Su Hua stared blankly at the ceiling, as if she hadn’t heard anything.

Gu Beixian sighed, gently patted her shoulder, and turned to leave.

As he stepped out, he instructed the bodyguard at the door, “Protect Su Hua well. Call me immediately if anything happens.”

The bodyguard responded, “Yes, President Gu.”

After getting into the car-

The assistant reported to Gu Beixian, “I brought people to check all the surveillance along the route. We had to mobilize several groups to finally find Huang Que. When we caught her, she was in a black taxi, fleeing to the countryside, trying to hide.”

Gu Beixian’s gaze was icy cold. “What’s her background?”

“Huang Que is Huang Guang’s younger sister. Huang Guang is the bald man who previously kidnapped Young Madam to restore the ancient painting. After that incident, it was discovered he participated in a tomb-robbing gang and was sentenced to seven years. Surveillance shows that in the past few days, Huang Que disguised herself as a delivery person and lingered around Antique City, waiting for an opportunity to take revenge on Young Madam.”

Gu Beixian clenched his hand at his side, his knuckles turning white.

They arrived at the small building where Huang Que was being held.

Huang Que had short hair, a sallow face, red-rimmed eyes, and dry, cracked lips. She looked quite similar to her bald brother and had an androgynous appearance.

Gu Beixian walked over and sat down on the sofa, looking up, his gaze cold and indifferent as he swept her with his eyes. “Why did you crush Su Hua’s fingers?”

Huang Que’s face was filled with hatred, and she ground her teeth. “She made my brother go to prison!”

Gu Beixian sneered, “Your brother robbed tombs and kidnapped Su Hua. He deserved to go to prison.”

Huang Que glared at him sideways and said nothing.

Gu Beixian’s lips lifted slightly, half smiling, half not, his tone unhurried. “I’ve never hit a woman before, but you’re just too despicable!”

The moment he finished speaking, he grabbed the ashtray from the coffee table and hurled it at Huang Que’s head.

Huang Que tried to dodge, but the assistant held her down so she couldn’t get away.

“Bang!”

The glass ashtray grazed her head, crashed to the floor, and shattered into pieces.

The assistant kicked Huang Que’s leg.

With a thud, she fell to her knees on the broken glass, her whole body trembling from the pain, whimpering non-stop like a wounded wild dog.

Gu Beixian stood up from the sofa and looked down at her, his eyes cold and detached.

The assistant understood and stomped heavily on Huang Que’s hand several times.

The sharp glass shards pierced her fingertips.

Huang Que cried out in pain, repeatedly begging for mercy: “My hand, it hurts, it hurts, please let me go.”

Gu Beixian laughed, “So you do know what pain is. When you crushed Su Hua’s fingers in the door, did you ever think about whether she would hurt?”

Those were the hands she valued more than her own life.

Those hands had tirelessly massaged his legs and gently soothed his body and mind over the past two years.

Such a good girl, so gentle and unassuming, yet this scum crushed her most precious fingers.

Gu Beixian suppressed his anger, put one hand in his pocket, and said indifferently, “Those hands are too wicked. Deal with them as you see fit.”

The assistant quickly replied, “Understood, President Gu.”

Gu Beixian turned and left.

After he left, the assistant grabbed Huang Que’s hand-

“Crack!”

A cold flash glinted before their eyes, and Huang Que immediately let out a blood-curdling scream!

“Thud!”

She collapsed to the floor, body stiff, limbs convulsing, eyes rolling back as she fainted!

Back at the hospital.

Gu Beixian sat down beside Su Hua’s hospital bed.

Seeing her blank, dazed expression, Gu Beixian felt a pang in his heart. Just as he was about to tell her the revenge had been taken, his sleeve was suddenly grabbed by her.

She appeared gentle on the outside but was strong inside and rarely showed her vulnerable side.

But now she was fragile and helpless, filled with dependence on him.

Gu Beixian’s heart softened. He felt needed.

He coaxed her in a warm voice, “Don’t be afraid. I won’t leave. I’ll stay with you these next few days.”

Only then did Su Hua slowly release his sleeve.

Gu Beixian gently brushed the messy hair falling over her face behind her ear and said, “Close your eyes and try to get some sleep. I’ll watch over you.”

But Su Hua couldn’t sleep. Four of her fingers were swollen and throbbing, the pain radiating from the tips with every heartbeat.

All her fingernails had turned black and purple-an alarming sight.

She kept her eyes shut, enduring the seconds as they passed, grief tightening in her chest.

Her fingers were broken. If they didn’t heal well, she’d feel she had let down her grandfather’s years of careful guidance.

Knock, knock-someone rapped on the door.

Gu Beixian got up to open it.

Standing outside was Shen Huai, tall and dressed in a white coat, holding a bouquet of white roses.

He called, “Cousin,” and said, “I just got out of surgery. I heard Su Hua’s hand was hurt, so I came to see her.”
Gu Beixian’s expression remained calm, but his tone was rather cold: “Young Master Shen has quite a few professions.”

Shen Huai smiled and said, “My main job is as a doctor. Antique Studio is my grandfather’s shop.”

Gu Beixian ignored him and walked over to sit beside Su Hua.

Shen Huai placed the flowers on the bedside table, came to check Su Hua’s hand, and asked gently, “Does your finger still hurt?”

Su Hua nodded.

“Don’t worry too much. I heard Bai Lao performed your surgery. His skills are excellent, and you’re so young-your finger will definitely heal well.”

“Thank you,” Su Hua said softly.

Shen Huai stared at her black and purple fingernail and said, “There’s blood congestion in your finger. We need to drain it. Once the blood is released, the pain will ease a bit.”

He called the nurse to bring a needle.

Gu Beixian raised his eyebrows at him, “Are you up to it?”

Shen Huai showed his work ID, “Attending physician. I’ve been on the operating table; draining blood is no trouble.”

Soon, the nurse brought the needle and disinfectant cotton.

Shen Huai disinfected the needle, then inserted it along Su Hua’s nail bed, squeezing out a lot of congested blood.

After the blood was drained, Su Hua felt her finger hurt less.

Shen Huai tidied up and gently patted her arm, “It’s getting late. Rest well. I’ll come see you again tomorrow.”

Gu Beixian stood up and said coolly, “I’ll walk you out.”

The two of them left one after the other.

Gu Beixian closed the door, gave him a cold glance, and said indifferently, “Su Hua isn’t into your type. Don’t bother her again.”

Shen Huai’s expression shifted slightly, then he smiled, “So what type does Su Hua like?”

Gu Beixian tried to picture Ah Yao’s appearance, but couldn’t figure out what type he was, so he said, “She likes my type.”

Shen Huai’s smile deepened, “Too bad you’re her cousin.”

Gu Beixian’s eyes turned cold, freezing over. “I am her…”

Ring ring ring-Shen Huai’s phone rang.

He pulled out his phone from his white coat and waved it at Gu Beixian, “Cousin, I need to take this call.”

He answered and walked away while talking.

Gu Beixian felt a surge of frustration, his face dark and unpleasant. He returned to the ward, saw Su Hua in such discomfort, and his anger dissipated.

He glanced at his watch-it was getting late.

Gu Beixian called for Aunt Liu to bring three basins of hot water.

He took a towel and wiped Su Hua’s face, then lifted the corner of her quilt, picked up her foot, and prepared to wash it for her.

Su Hua shrank her foot back, refusing to let him wash it.

Gu Beixian’s tone softened, “For those two years when I couldn’t stand, you took care of me every day. Now it’s my turn to look after you.”

Su Hua stopped resisting, her eyes turning slightly red.

After washing her feet, Gu Beixian was about to take off her pants.

Su Hua suddenly realized what he was about to do and pressed her legs tightly together, not letting him take them off.

Gu Beixian smiled faintly, “We’re husband and wife. You love cleanliness so much-if you don’t wash, you’ll definitely feel uncomfortable. Let me help you.”

Su Hua looked at him with a hint of grievance in her eyes.

Ever since the word “divorce” was brought up, and with Chu Suosuo stirring things up, even if they hadn’t officially divorced, their relationship was no longer quite the same as before. Letting him wash such private areas felt awkward.

Seeing her reluctance, Gu Beixian was silent for a moment and said, “Should I let Aunt Liu help you?”

After a few seconds of silence, Su Hua slowly relaxed her tightly pressed legs.

Compared to Aunt Liu, Gu Beixian was clearly more intimate.

Aunt Liu was tactful and quickly excused herself.

Gu Beixian was very careful as he washed her.

Su Hua’s face was as red as burning coal.

Afterward, Gu Beixian also wiped her legs and upper body.

Aunt Liu came in to take away the basins.

By the second half of the night, Su Hua finally fell asleep.

Gu Beixian lay beside her, not daring to sleep, worried that she might move her hand in her sleep and dislocate her finger, so he kept holding it.

No one knew how much time passed before Su Hua had another nightmare. She trembled and curled up into a ball.

Gu Beixian held her in his arms and gently patted her, like soothing a child.

Su Hua felt a sense of security and instinctively snuggled closer to him, mumbling with her eyes closed, “A Yao Ge…”

Gu Beixian raised his hand to press her lips, blocking the last two syllables. After a long while, seeing her calm down, he finally moved his hand away and whispered, “Little heartless thing.”

In her sleep, Su Hua turned over lightly.

Naturally, she couldn’t hear his words, nor did she know that countless times in her nightmares, she called out “A Yao Ge.”
