I ignored Pei Lang.

Behind him, Bai Chuan slowly opened his eyes, his pair of serpentine pupils cold and merciless as they fixed on me.

I looked back at him, swearing solemnly, “Come with me, and I’ll heal you.”

Bai Chuan’s pale lips pressed into a thin line. Bracing himself on the floor with his arms, he crawled toward me with unwavering determination in his eyes.

He crawled to my feet and looked up at me, gaze steady.

I crouched down and reached out to touch his face. “I’ll take you with me.”

Pei Lang rushed over and grabbed my hand, speaking anxiously, “Choose me! You should choose me! He’s about to die-why would you pick him?”

Now I was sure of it.

Pei Lang had been reborn as well.

Before I could react, Bai Chuan frowned, his bloodstained snake tail coiling around Pei Lang and flinging him aside with a violent motion.

Pei Lang slammed hard against the wall.

Bai Chuan’s gaze was vicious. “Come any closer, and I’ll kill you.”

Watching Pei Lang clutch his chest, I felt a surge of delight. In a good mood, I pinched Bai Chuan’s cheek.

“Impressive.”

Bai Chuan’s eyelashes trembled, and he quickly lowered his eyes.

After my father paid, we each took our chosen Beastfolk home.

Left behind in the cage, Pei Lang called my name unwillingly. I pretended to be troubled and glanced at the bodyguard beside me.

“He’s so annoying.”

The bodyguard immediately understood. “Understood, miss.”

I curled my lips in a smile.

In the Black Market, any Beastfolk not purchased would be sent to the arena to perform-a true living hell.

I was looking forward to it.

This good mood lasted all the way home.

Beastfolk would become our companions in the future, so my father spared no expense in their training. Manuals and medicinal herbs were delivered to my room in a steady stream.

Bai Chuan’s injuries weren’t severe, but he had a congenital illness, so his recovery was slow.

This only made me more curious about how he had survived the arena in his previous life.

Perhaps my gaze was too blatant, for Bai Chuan’s face gradually turned red.

“Ma… Master, do you have any orders?”

Hearing that title, I raised an eyebrow.

In my previous life, I had spoiled Pei Lang too much-he always called me by name.

Being addressed as “Master” was a novel experience.

I tossed the medicine to him. “Apply it yourself.”

Bai Chuan took it and nodded obediently.
