Desert Book - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Next morning, I looked at Isis-who appeared as if he had been ravaged by a common thug-and fell into a long, heavy silence.
At this moment, Isis was lying on his side upon the snow-white bedding, propping his head up with one hand as he gazed at me intently, his face practically radiating the words “I am so happy.”
The air was filled with iridescent, sweet bubbles of joy that one couldn’t bear to pop.
Thus, the interrogation that was on the tip of my tongue was swallowed back down.
Instead, Isis showed no intention of making excuses and took the initiative to confess his “wicked deeds.”
“Forgive me. I used my Divine Power to bewitch you,” he said, his bitten, swollen red lips parting and closing. “I have committed a crime against you. I am willing to accept any punishment, except for leaving you.”
I looked down at my neatly dressed self, then back at Isis.
Likely because certain areas could no longer bear the friction of fabric, Isis’s divine robes were loosely draped over his body in a deep V-neck style, without any clasps fastened.
As a result, those mottled marks and rather exaggerated bite wounds were on full display.
Indeed, someone had committed a crime, but it seemed-probably, maybe-that person wasn’t Isis.
After all, Isis’s Divine Power would only amplify the desires in my heart, not override my sanity.
Shouting “Male Mommy, let me have a taste” and then biting him like that… was simply because I’m a pervert!
Carrying this extremely sober self-awareness, I took Isis’s hand with a heart full of guilt.
“It’s not your fault. It’s all because my will wasn’t strong enough.”
He’s just an insecure Male Mommy; what could he possibly have done wrong?
Seemingly not expecting me to say that, Isis stared at me in a daze for a long time. His eyes flickered, and he was actually moved to the point of tears.
“You don’t blame me… Xie Weila, do you like me?”
If I were holding a game console right now, the game interface would definitely pop up with options:
[Direct Confession] / [Change the Subject]
As a professional player, I chose the direct approach without hesitation.
“Of course, Isis. You are my lover and (one of) the most important people in my life. Of course I like you.”
Because of this confession, a century of waiting vanished from Isis’s heart in an instant.
The Quest Book popped up. The green Progress Bar, which had advanced significantly without me noticing, suddenly filled to the max at this moment.
Isis squeezed my hand back.
The morning light filtered through the window screen and fell across his brow. He was standing before me in the flesh, far more beautiful than any exquisite CG.
The God of Life’s eyes curved into crescents as he gave me a gentle, tranquil smile:
“I was once like an ancient anchor forgotten by you, stationed in the sorrowful twilight of a century ago. I craved your backward glance countless times, yet you were always distant.”
“But a miracle has finally descended, and fate has allowed me to meet you again. My dear lover, I bring new life to all things in Egypt, but only you can ignite the destiny of the God of Life.”
“Xie Weila, may fate entwine us together, never to be parted in this lifetime.”
