Chapter 137

Zhou Chuanning continued to feed Gu Huaiwei. At first, he used a bowl, but eventually, he was holding the entire pot and feeding her with a soup ladle.

Gu Huaiwei maintained a calm expression as she took one sip after another, but her hands were constantly trying to push the pot away.

She was stuffed!

This was enough for four people, and half of it was already in her stomach.

Couldn’t the others who hadn’t eaten enough speak up and say something?

“Can’t you see she doesn’t want to eat anymore?” Lu Beijiu was the only guest present who wasn’t wearing makeup. He sat with his arms crossed, completely refusing to participate in the interactions. Even when the camera was on him, it was impossible to edit any plot out of his footage.

This was the only sentence he had spoken all day.

Hearing this, Gu Huaiwei immediately pulled out a napkin to wipe the corners of her mouth.

As soon as Lu Beijiu spoke, Chen Liuxiang’s gaze drifted over. Her stare was particularly thick and lingering. Although she was still mechanically feeding He Jiarui small sips of soup, her attention had shifted entirely to this side.

“Miss Gu has a good appetite; she can still eat a bit more.” Zhou Chuanning did not put down the ladle. He looked up at Lu Beijiu with a cold gaze. His attitude didn’t carry the patient tolerance an Alien usually showed toward humans; on the contrary, it revealed a hint of loathing.

“Are you still eating?” Lu Beijiu ignored Zhou Chuanning and turned to ask Gu Huaiwei instead.

Zhou Chuanning brought the ladle back to Gu Huaiwei’s lips, smiling tenderly. “Be good, just one more bite. I blew on it; it’s not hot.”

It was a rare sight for Gu Huaiwei to see such heavy tension between a human and an Alien.

“I’m full.” Gu Huaiwei pushed away the spoon that was nearly poking her in the face and tossed her napkin into the trash.

In the live stream’s chat, the audience’s focus on Gu Huaiwei was intensifying.

[She clearly looked like she had a great appetite just now, why interrupt her eating?]

[When humans say ‘no,’ they actually mean ‘yes.’ He should have force-fed her; humans love that stuff.]

[Why does that Lu Beijiu like a human? Hasn’t he noticed Chen Liuxiang is looking at him? How can humans be so oblivious!]

After the first day concluded, there was a host interview segment.

Gu Huaiwei had originally thought the hype would center on He Jiarui’s four-way love entanglement.

As it turned out, the audience’s attention was entirely on Gu Huaiwei’s appetite.

These Aliens thought it was adorable for a human to be able to eat so much.

The more they ate and the plumper they got, the better.

With the first day of filming over, the second day featured a dating segment.

Although it was presented as a random draw, everything had been pre-arranged with a script to maximize the show’s popularity.

Gu Huaiwei was paired with Zhou Chuanning.

As the sponsor, He Jiarui had privately asked Gu Huaiwei to pair her with Ji Xuan, and then put Chen Liuxiang and Lu Beijiu together. She also wanted their date locations to be very close to each other, hoping to provoke Chen Liuxiang.

As the benefactor of this event, Gu Huaiwei readily agreed and told Lin She to give that group more screen time.

Wu Ming and Lin Xiaomei were paired together. Their progress was quite fast; they had taken a liking to each other since yesterday. Wu Ming had even secretly begged Gu Huaiwei to arrange a romantic date setting for them.

For this round of dates, a large sum of money was spent on renting a spaceship for He Jiarui and the others. Those two groups of guests would pass through celestial anomalies to have their dates in outer space.

Gu Huaiwei saved on costs for her own side, taking Zhou Chuanning for a stroll through a free park.

They walked for three or four hours first.

Gu Huaiwei’s stamina was remarkably good. To match her form-fitting black lace gown, she was wearing heeled leather boots, yet after several hours of walking, she showed no sign of fatigue.

“Aren’t you hot?”

“I’m fine.” Gu Huaiwei looked up at the shimmering, colorful sky. “There’s no sun here anyway.”

“Human skin is very fragile; excessive exposure to the outside world accelerates aging.” After walking back and forth on the same path eight times, Zhou Chuanning finally couldn’t help but speak up. “Have a Magnetic Beverage. Let’s take a short rest.”
The Magnetic Beverages were provided by the production crew.

Gu Huaiwei quickly put the unopened Magnetic Beverage back.

“No thanks, I brought my own.” Gu Huaiwei pulled out a massive thermos. Since funds were limited, she didn’t need to drink Magnetic Beverages; she had simply filled the thermos with water to save on costs.

Zhou Chuanning frowned slightly. “It’s almost dinner time. I remember there’s a restaurant nearby that serves both Alien and human meals. The atmosphere is quite nice; we’ll eat there tonight.”

“Oh, it’s fine. I brought a lunch box. We can just sit in the park and eat.”

The camera zoomed in for a close-up, revealing that the lunch box in Gu Huaiwei’s hand was clearly filled with yesterday’s leftovers.

Not only that, but she also pulled several tubes of nutritional supplements from her pocket. Lifting her chin arrogantly, she put on a patronizing expression. “I brought some for you too. There are all sorts of flavors, so you can pick whichever one you like. Well? Aren’t I good to you?”

“…” Zhou Chuanning looked at the tubes of supplements, then at the filming camera nearby, and accepted them in silence.

[It’s the first time I’ve seen a human take the initiative to provide food for an Alien. Look at Zhou Chuanning’s face, it’s priceless hahaha. It feels like he’s becoming a human’s kept man.]

[This show actually has two Independent Humans who aren’t wearing Contract Rings. That’s incredible.]

[I’m touched. To think a human would be willing to save up their Magnetic Value to buy nutritional supplements for an Alien… I believe in love again.]

As far as Gu Huaiwei was concerned, today’s date was a success as long as she saved money.

On the way back, Zhou Chuanning received a text from a colleague. He suddenly muttered a cold “Just as I thought.” Gu Huaiwei’s ears were sharp, and she caught his grumbling. Just as she was about to ask what was wrong, he dragged her out of the camera’s view.

“Let’s go. There’s a lead on that last case. I’m taking you somewhere.”

“Where?”

“Be quiet and just follow me.”

There was no sunset or dusk here, but as evening approached, the sky turned a murky orange-yellow. Zhou Chuanning grabbed Gu Huaiwei’s wrist and slung her over his shoulder like a sack of flour. His legs grew incredibly long, stretching out like tentacles as he covered five or six meters in a single stride. He moved with extreme speed, clearly intending to lose the cameraman.

Gu Huaiwei had just finished her leftovers, and the position was making her stomach feel rather uncomfortable.

Lin She had not followed Gu Huaiwei’s instructions to film He Jiarui’s group.

He had been hiding in the shadows of the park the entire time, watching Gu Huaiwei and Zhou Chuanning’s date.

The cameraman couldn’t keep up.

Lin She stealthily snatched the camera from the cameraman. The man only felt a gust of cold wind blow past before realizing his hands were empty.

While Zhou Chuanning ran toward a remote area with Gu Huaiwei on his shoulder, Lin She moved without his feet seemingly touching the ground, gliding rapidly through a marsh bubbling with purple foam. He followed closely behind them, neither attacking nor making a sound.

Zhou Chuanning stuffed Gu Huaiwei into a Biological Spaceship. The Biological Spaceship was a living entity; the so-called cockpit was actually the interior of a Hard-shelled Beetle.

Gu Huaiwei sat on a somewhat slimy leather chair, her limbs held fast by an adhesive substance.

“Officer Zhou, we are currently live-streaming. We are filming a dating show, not a crime scene. If this is about specific case details, we can discuss it slowly back at the shop. Don’t do this while we’re filming the program.”

Realizing her movements were restricted, Gu Huaiwei quietly drew a dagger from her Jade Bracelet and sliced through the layers of adhesive lace pinning her to the back of the chair.
