Novel Info

In the Wasteland World, where material resources are scarce, people’s sensitivity to survival resources is like sharks in the sea smelling blood-catching even the faintest scent, they swarm in madly.

It’s instinct.

The white-haired old man and his crew are prime examples.

People here are not lacking in ways to make a living.

Gu Huaiwei doesn’t dislike such people. The white-haired old man has killed in front of her, but she doesn’t feel repulsed-she simply keeps an appropriate distance.

The white-haired old man mainly does business with the Rat People.

Business seems to be going well.

Gu Huaiwei believes that if everyone had the white-haired old man’s awareness, it wouldn’t be long before this street would flourish.

Perhaps, it might even develop into a proper commercial street.

Gu Huaiwei would be happy to see that happen.

Because the more prosperous it becomes, the better her hotel business will be.

The Scarred Woman comes to work about once a week.

Occasionally, she’ll bring a bag of metal scrap to the hotel entrance to exchange for sunflower seeds.

After coming so many times, the Scarred Woman started chatting with Gu Huaiwei.

Today, it was the Scarred Woman’s shift.

After finishing her morning chores, the Scarred Woman came to Gu Huaiwei’s shop to trade.

“Your stuff is really good-some things can’t even be found in the Upper District.” The Scarred Woman poured mineral water into her Protective Suit, then drank it through a special tube.

Once she leaves the hotel lobby, the Scarred Woman can’t take off her Protective Suit.

Gu Huaiwei can adapt to the wind and sand outside. She sat on a small stool at the hotel entrance, letting the dust settle on her long hair draped over her shoulders. “Actually, the themed rooms are even better. They let you experience a world unpolluted by nuclear blasts.”

Whenever themed rooms are mentioned, Gu Huaiwei can’t stop talking.

“When your shop’s business picks up, you must persuade that white-haired old man to bring you all over for a stay.

I’ve already opened four themed rooms.

The Wizard of Oz themed room has high oxygen levels, fresh air, and everywhere you look is green vegetation.

The Cloud Pavilion themed room has carpets as soft as clouds.

The Flowing Stream Banquet themed room has a clear stream running through the room, with pink peach blossoms floating on the water-it’s beautiful.

And in the Mountain Island Clear Moon themed room, you can see the moon on the ceiling.

Trust me, every single one of these rooms is worth experiencing. Your Gold Coins will be well spent.”

Gu Huaiwei wanted to promote the themed rooms.

The Scarred Woman just sipped the crisp mineral water, her fierce face showing confusion. “I can’t imagine it.”

Gu Huaiwei gestured, pointing to the sky and the distance, trying a different way to explain: “Um… it’s blue skies, white clouds, green mountains, and clear waters. Try to imagine their colors.”

The Scarred Woman knew blue, white, and green.

But she couldn’t connect those colors to the sky.

In their world, everything was more the color of rust.

The sky, and the water, too.

So, Gu Huaiwei ran back to the hotel, took photos of the four unlocked themed rooms, printed them in color, and gave them to the Scarred Woman, hoping she could help spread the word.

The Scarred Woman really liked the photos.

She didn’t bother with polite words, but simply tossed Gu Huaiwei a yellowed booklet.

“Women’s Dagger Self-Defense Technique”

Gu Huaiwei flipped through a few pages and saw that it was full of pictures and handwritten notes.

“What’s this?”

The Scarred Woman’s voice was cold: “You don’t have enough muscle. This suits you better.

Practice more with the dagger I gave you last time. Next time you see someone killing, don’t instinctively clench your fists.”

Gu Huaiwei said with some delight, “Alright, I’ll start practicing tomorrow.”

“Tch, don’t get yourself killed.” The Scarred Woman carefully put away the photos, shoved her hands in her pockets, and left.
Gu Huaiwei returned to the hotel and took advantage of her lunch break to flip through the book “Women’s Dagger Self-Defense Technique.”

She found that this book was truly practical.

A knife is a weapon for killing.

Gu Huaiwei recalled a news story she had seen before: a student who had just finished military training at university was robbed, fought back with a full set of military boxing moves, and was stabbed forty times by the assailant.

What she wanted to learn was not some kind of self-defense for fitness, but real fighting skills-skills that could actually win a fight.

Gu Huaiwei read the book carefully.

She discovered that, unlike modern martial arts classes, the moves taught in this book did not emphasize aesthetics, but focused on agility, speed, and power.

Exactly what she needed!

Gu Huaiwei held the dagger and practiced the moves from the book.

She was so absorbed that she didn’t even notice when Lin She walked over.

It wasn’t until Lin She’s hand, cold as a corpse, suddenly gripped her wrist that she realized she had almost stabbed the dagger into his throat.

Lin She let go of her hand and asked in a flat voice, “What are you doing?”

“Studying.” Gu Huaiwei raised the “Women’s Dagger Self-Defense Technique” in her hand.

After just a short practice, she felt that all the moves in the book were already imprinted in her mind.

She thought, if she could master everything in this book, then next time she encountered troublemakers, she could legitimately defend herself and knock them all down.

“Studying how to kill?” Lin She seemed quite interested.

Gu Huaiwei pointed to the words on the cover of the book and emphasized, “Not killing-it’s for self-defense.

Next time I’m practicing, don’t suddenly appear next to me.

This dagger is very sharp, and I’m very poor. If I hurt you, I can’t afford to compensate.”

“It’s fine. I’ll fight back,” Lin She said calmly, uttering something terrifying.

He showed no fear of the dagger, flipping through the book Gu Huaiwei was practicing from, and felt that what it taught were still killing techniques.

So, Lin She extended a hand in invitation: “These are just third-rate moves. If you want to learn how to kill, I can teach you first-rate skills.”

“Thanks, but no thanks.” Gu Huaiwei slapped his palm and turned her head away, ruthlessly refusing.

In the Real World, she was a law-abiding citizen and had no intention of ending up in jail sewing buttons.

Still, Gu Huaiwei secretly sized up Lin She. She had always thought he was just a gloomy, sickly-looking tech nerd, but unexpectedly, he knew these things too.

Truly, you can’t judge a book by its cover.

The membership card wouldn’t be ready until next week.

With so much work scheduled, Gu Huaiwei didn’t feel right about rushing Lin She.

After the hotel upgrade, Gu Huaiwei went from working year-round to having one day off a week.

On Sundays, she could take a day off and return to the Real World.

When Gu Huaiwei wasn’t around, Lin She would stay at the hotel and watch the shop.

Knowing that a full stomach makes for better work, before leaving, Gu Huaiwei planned to cook a big pot of eggs for him.

Tea eggs had more flavor, so Gu Huaiwei even bought a special spice packet.

Who would have thought, Lin She hoped she could bring some raw, sterile eggs next time as an employee reward.

He didn’t like tea eggs.

He even categorized his preference for a hundred ways to cook eggs, made a chart, and handed it to Gu Huaiwei.

Gu Huaiwei’s temples throbbed.

She held the chart and saw that Lin She’s egg preference was: sterile eggs > boiled eggs > tea eggs > other strange types of eggs.

So thoroughly organized, but really, it could be summed up in one sentence.

He likes them raw.

Gu Huaiwei flipped the paper face-down on the table. Previously, those two raw eggs she lost were definitely stolen and eaten by him!
