Qian Duoduo’s expression was unpleasant. “You really went to the Upper District?”

Gu Huaiwei lightly raised her brow and began to spout nonsense. “Yes, just as you imagined.

The Underground City was built by me, and all the leaders inside are my disciples and grand-disciples.

Actually, I’m two hundred and eighty years old this year, and I’m not human.”

“How is that possible?” Qian Duoduo tried hard to read Gu Huaiwei’s expression, but she couldn’t see through her.

Is it true?

Is it false?

Or half-true, half-false?

Gu Huaiwei nodded solemnly. “Anything is possible, young lady. Trust your instincts.”

After speaking, Gu Huaiwei returned to the hotel, leaving Qian Duoduo alone, bewildered in the wind.

It wasn’t until the wind and sand began to damage Qian Duoduo’s Protective Suit that she snapped back to reality and hurried into the hotel.

That night, Qian Duoduo tossed and turned, unable to sleep, thinking about Gu Huaiwei’s words.

It sounded so much like nonsense, but what if it was true?

She had sold Gu Huaiwei’s photo to the Black Spiral Research Institute. Could it be that Gu Huaiwei already knew, and said those things to warn her?

Yes! That must be it!

Otherwise, Gu Huaiwei wouldn’t have been standing at the hotel entrance right after she completed the transaction!

The more Qian Duoduo thought about it, the more frightened she became.

She shrank deeper into the soft quilt.

Gu Huaiwei was truly a terrifying and unfathomable woman.

The temperature difference between day and night in this world was extreme.

Daytime was like a furnace, nighttime like an ice cave.

Outside the hotel, the temperature gradually dropped.

The sky was very dark.

The air was so dry it was suffocating, fine sand grains clogged the throat with every breath, Rat People burrowed into underground holes, and the Protective Suit repair shop across the street had closed early.

Gu Huaiwei stood inside the hotel, looking out through the clean glass. The wind and sand raged in the night, blurring the outline of the entire world.

Lin She had not returned.

A Radiation Storm had already started outside, and Gu Huaiwei had no idea where he would spend the night.

After business hours, Gu Huaiwei locked the hotel door.

She took insecticide from the storeroom, poured it into the hotel’s cleaning robot, and let the robot do a round of pest control during the night.

The next day, when business resumed, Lin She still hadn’t returned.

Nor on the third day.

Gu Huaiwei sent him messages on her phone, but he didn’t reply.

This made Gu Huaiwei uneasy; she couldn’t afford to lose this technical backbone.

On Sunday, Gu Huaiwei brought those nutrient solutions back to the Real World.

At the factory, there were often thugs loitering around the perimeter. Mu Lingxi had already messaged Gu Huaiwei, telling her not to go near the factory at night.

Gu Huaiwei was heading to Mu Lingxi’s newly rented apartment.

Blinding headlights cut through the night, and a runaway van suddenly crashed through the guardrail, nearly running over Gu Huaiwei as she walked on the sidewalk.

She had just steadied herself when the van door was flung open with a bang. A group of thugs got out aggressively, baseball bats in hand, eyes fierce, closing in step by step.

Gu Huaiwei recognized these people; Mu Lingxi had shown her the police report-they were the same thugs who had bullied Mu Lingxi last time.

The thugs surrounded Gu Huaiwei. The leader spat thick phlegm, revealing yellow teeth, and spoke menacingly: “Bitch, you sure can hide. Made me look for you for a whole week!

You think you can escape your debts? Pay up, or come with me to the club to work it off!”

The others jeered, eyes vicious, waving their baseball bats.

Gu Huaiwei remained calm. She took off her glasses and stuffed them into her pocket, crossed her arms, and swept a cold gaze over everyone present. “I don’t recall owing you any money.”

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of yellow hair at the street corner.

The sharp, icy glint in Gu Huaiwei’s eyes made everyone present freeze for a moment.
The gang leader’s eyes darted around. “It’s your missing sister who owes us money.”

“If there’s a grievance, there’s a culprit; if there’s a debt, there’s a debtor. If you say my sister owes you money, then go find my sister.”

“You shameless woman, are you trying to renege on the debt?” The leader was utterly unreasonable. With a wave of his large hand, he ordered, “Boys, grab her! Strip her and lash her a few times at the club. She’ll remember how much she owes us then!”

In the shadows, Jiang Xingyi, the mastermind behind all this, was ready to let Gu Huaiwei suffer a little before making his grand entrance as the hero.

He lurked sneakily at the street corner, watching.

The gang leader, who was leading the fight, was also waiting for the Third Young Master of the Jiang Family to make a move so that he could pretend to be beaten up and retreat unscathed.

Gu Huaiwei observed the scene carefully.

There were seven people in total.

None of them had knives, only baseball bats and similar weapons.

Gu Huaiwei wanted to test the power of women’s self-defense techniques.

She pulled her right hand into her sleeve, and a black dagger gleamed coldly as it slid from her cuff into her palm.

Gu Huaiwei pointed the tip of the blade at them. “If you spew filth again, I’ll cut out your tongue first.”

The leading thug grumbled to himself, wondering why the Third Young Master of the Jiang Family still hadn’t appeared.

If this continued, it wouldn’t just be a simple street brawl.

Meanwhile, his lackeys were all watching. There was only one woman across from them, acting so arrogant-if he didn’t step up, wouldn’t that be a loss of face?

So he roared, swung his bat, and smashed it fiercely at Gu Huaiwei’s face.

Just as the bat was about to hit Gu Huaiwei, she moved in a flash, deftly dodging to the side.

How amazing!

She could clearly see the thug’s attack trajectory.

It was as if everything was in slow motion.

Gu Huaiwei was pleasantly surprised. She hadn’t been able to do this before.

The blade in her hand went straight for the man’s wrist. The baseball bat fell to the ground with a clatter, accompanied by the gang leader’s wail of pain and the sight of blood.

“Damn! Boss!”

The rest of the thugs immediately rushed forward.

This can’t turn into a real fight!

Jiang Xingyi rushed out, ready to play the hero according to his original plan.

Who could have guessed that Gu Huaiwei would move so quickly, using the handle of her dagger to precisely strike the elbows, knees, and napes of the remaining thugs… Before they could react, they were all heavily knocked to the ground.

“What is this, a martial arts movie shoot?” Jiang Xingyi rubbed his eyes in disbelief.

Could it be that he hadn’t paid enough, so he ended up hiring a bunch of useless actors?

Even though this was supposed to be an act, he had told those thugs to rough Gu Huaiwei up a bit, just to give her a taste of hardship.

But before they even touched Gu Huaiwei, these seven burly men were already down for the count.

Wasn’t this pulling punches a bit too obvious?

Gu Huaiwei shot Jiang Xingyi a cold glance, put her knife away, and under his complicated gaze, dialed the police.

At the police station.

Gu Huaiwei leaned over the desk, tears and snot streaming down her face as she wailed, “Officer, it was just too terrifying…

Wuwuwu…

I was just walking along the road when suddenly a van charged at me.

Before I could even react, seven big men jumped out.

They were all fierce-looking, brandishing weapons, cursing and hitting me, saying they would sell me to a club to pay off some debt.”

Even though Gu Huaiwei was sobbing uncontrollably, her words were clear.

She explained the sequence of events precisely and emphasized that it was the thugs who attacked first-she was merely acting in self-defense.

The seven thugs were all bruised and battered, one of them still bleeding from the wrist.

They were handcuffed with silver handcuffs, squatting in the corner with their hands over their heads.

As a witness, Jiang Xingyi watched Gu Huaiwei’s dramatic change of face and couldn’t help but twitch his lips.
