Gu Huaiwei noticed that when Jiang Yingyue spoke to her, her fingers kept rubbing the bracelet on her wrist-this was something Gu Changge used to do often.

What does the Jiang Family plan to auction off?

A thought flashed quickly through her mind.

Perhaps, this was a good opportunity to force Jiang Yingyue to hand over that bracelet.

Clearly, Jiang Yingyue was also aware that Gu Huaiwei was strapped for cash at the moment. Even if she pooled all the money from selling gold earlier, it would only amount to a few million.

“Hmph, I knew you didn’t have what it takes.” Jiang Yingyue sneered, her tone full of disdain and provocation. “Want the Jiang Family to pay for you? Then you’ll have to behave and follow the Jiang Family’s rules.”

Gu Huaiwei ignored her childish provocation and asked directly, “When is the auction?”

“Next weekend.”

“Alright, if I’m free, I’ll come back to attend.” Gu Huaiwei replied calmly, her fingers moving slightly as she prepared to roll up the car window.

But Jiang Yingyue suddenly pressed her hand against the window, her tone arrogant, as if granting a favor: “No, starting today, you have to return to the Jiang Family.

Don’t worry about money, the Jiang Family won’t treat you badly. That’s much better than you renting a place outside and reselling that suspicious gold.”

The Jiang Family was doing this, first, to gain a good reputation after swallowing up the Gu Family.

Second, to keep her under their nose for easier control.

“Sorry, I have strong teeth-I only chew on hard bones, not soft food.” Gu Huaiwei said, gently brushing off Jiang Yingyue’s hand, her tone tinged with impatience. “Don’t block the car, you’re making my friend late for school.”

Jiang Yingyue covered her reddened hand, eyes wide with disbelief: “You dare hit me?”

Gu Huaiwei blinked, looking at her own hand, a bit surprised.

She hadn’t used much force just now, yet Jiang Yingyue’s hand was already red.

It seemed her strength had increased again.

“Be good, don’t make a fuss. I’ll attend when the time comes.” Gu Huaiwei reached out the car window, gently touched Jiang Yingyue’s hand, her smile carrying a hint of comfort, then stepped on the gas and sped away.

The upgrade of the Oasis Hotel was completed smoothly.

Gu Huaiwei stood at the entrance of the Oasis Hotel, staring wide-eyed at the newly renovated building before her.

Had her hotel been injected with some kind of growth hormone?

The transformation was so drastic that Gu Huaiwei found it hard to connect this brand-new luxury hotel with the slightly old four-story building it had been before.

The original single four-story building had become two connected towers, east and west.

Each tower was eight stories high, with twenty-four rooms on each floor-twelve on the east side and twelve on the west. Specifically, each floor was divided into four themed rooms and twenty standard rooms.

Standard rooms were categorized into four types: king bed, twin bed, triple bed, and family room, with forty rooms of each type, totaling one hundred sixty rooms.

Themed rooms had increased from eight to twenty-four. They recreated famous mountains, rivers, and landmarks from around the world before the nuclear apocalypse, allowing guests to feel as if they were truly there and temporarily forget the reality of the Wasteland.

The remaining eight rooms were presidential suites yet to be unlocked, requiring Gold Coin to unlock and not yet available.

It wasn’t just Gu Huaiwei who found it unbelievable.

Other guests at the hotel also gathered at the entrance, some whispering, some taking photos to upload to forums.

They had been staying in their rooms, yet had no idea when the hotel had changed.

Even if their rooms had been relocated, they hadn’t noticed a thing.

Everyone attributed these miraculous changes to Gu Huaiwei.
The way they looked at Gu Huaiwei shifted from initial wariness and probing to fear and greed.

Karl walked over, muttering, “Has the 3D printing technology in the First District advanced to the point where they can conjure up a skyscraper out of thin air?”

Then he immediately denied his own thought, “No, this is clearly beyond the realm of science!”

Karl stared at Gu Huaiwei, as if trying to bore a hole through her with his gaze.

Gu Huaiwei glared back, “Don’t look at me. I’m just an ordinary worker who knows nothing.”

Karl didn’t believe that for a second.

He was convinced that Gu Huaiwei was hiding her true abilities, and that this building was her doing.

She was so modest, unwilling to admit her skills.

Karl hesitated for a long time before finally squeezing out a sentence: “Can I get your contact information?”

Gu Huaiwei raised her eyebrows slightly, “Why?”

“Uh… just to make friends,” Karl scratched his head and gave an awkward smile.

Before he finished speaking, the people around immediately crowded in, their faces plastered with ingratiating smiles.

“I want to add you too!”

“Me too!”

“I was here first! I even traded a nutrient solution for hotpot with you before-I’m an original customer, add me!” A tall young woman held out her phone to Gu Huaiwei, her eyes pleading.

“Add me first, I’m from the Fourth District. My dad is the Deputy Commander there.” Another person squeezed to the front, his words dripping with pride.

“Add me, little beauty.” A handsome brown-haired man with striking features playfully lifted a strand of Gu Huaiwei’s hair, flashing a charming smile. “Who knows, maybe we could develop something more.”

Suddenly, Gu Huaiwei became the center of attention.

Karl, who had been standing there just fine, was shoved to the outskirts by the crowd. He looked bewildered at his crushed phone and cursed, “Damn it, move! I was the first to ask to be friends!”

Then, he used his muscles to push the crowd aside, craning his neck to squeeze back in.

These customers were all shrewd and cunning.

Almost everyone, at the same time, had the urge to get close and probe.

Gu Huaiwei was pulled left and right, nearly knocked off balance.

None of them dared hurt her, but they blocked her way, not letting her return to the hotel.

“Move aside, don’t pull at me. If you step on my foot, don’t blame me.”

She pushed out with both hands, stomping hard on their toes, trying to get them to back off.

But they were all wearing Protective Suits, thick-skinned and tough, their eyes filled with greed and frenzy, completely oblivious.

“If you don’t move, don’t blame me for being rude.” Gu Huaiwei was about to draw her knife, ready to force these overly enthusiastic customers to keep their distance.

Suddenly, a swirl of black mist swept up the sand and dust from the ground, a dark tide surging, swallowing the light and shrouding the crowd, obscuring everyone’s vision.

The black mist scattered the troublesome customers surrounding her.

For a moment, Gu Huaiwei couldn’t tell east from west.

Tiny grains of sand stung her skin. Instinctively, Gu Huaiwei raised her arm to shield herself from the wind and sand, groping toward the hotel entrance.

The crowd began to trample each other, and Gu Huaiwei kicked away someone who was tugging at her clothes.

In the chaos, a cold hand suddenly gripped her wrist.

Gu Huaiwei instantly drew her knife and stabbed at the hand.

The blade was blocked by something hard.

“It’s me.”
