Dragon Keeper - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
The dry, cracked scales on the Dragon’s body were simply more than I could bear.
As a disciple of the Beast Taming Sect, I cannot stand seeing a filthy beast.
Naturally, that extended to Dragons as well.
With my professional instincts kicking in, I pulled my grooming tools out of my Mustard Seed Bag, found a spot with a water source, and treated the Dragon to a full-body spa session.
Two hours later.
The Dragon woke up. It let out a shriek and used all four claws to cover its non-existent private parts.
“What did you do to me?!”
I massaged my aching wrists, my tone remaining calm and indifferent.
“What does it look like?”
Isn’t it obvious?
I gave it a cleaning and a full-body treatment; I hadn’t even packed away my tools yet.
As soon as the words left my mouth, the Dragon’s expression turned into one of humiliated rage, its scales bristling all over.
“You touched my whole body! You saw everything!”
The Dragon’s voice cracked from screaming, sounding exactly like a victim being harassed by a rogue.
I remained silent… before reaching out and pinching the Dragon’s snout shut.
“If you don’t know how to speak properly, then don’t speak at all. What do you mean ‘touched your whole body and saw everything’? I was helping you clean up.”
“Countless animals intentionally collapse on the path that Beast Taming Sect disciples must take to descend the mountain every day. Our disciples pick up beasts daily.”
“Did you faint in the middle of the road just to get a free cleaning, or are you trying to use this as an excuse to leech off me?” I countered.
The fact that the Beast Taming Sect provided free cleaning and grooming for any animals they found had long since spread throughout the beast kingdom.
I didn’t believe for a second that it knew nothing about it.
The Black Dragon’s eyes darted around, avoiding my gaze. Finally, it simply closed its eyes and stiffened its neck.
“So what? I’m leeching off you now!”
I was so exasperated by its sheer audacity that I let out a sharp laugh.
Fine, fine. I was actually being extorted by a Dragon.
Trying to leech off me? In your dreams!
I turned around and bolted.
Hehe…
I didn’t make it. The Dragon’s tail swept out and coiled around me, dragging me back.
In a fit of rage, I struggled with all my might.
The result was total immobility. I fell silent.
Ever since a piece of my spine was extracted, even basic struggling felt like a joke. Now, I could only do useless things to vent my emotions.
So, I pulled out my tools, lowered my head, and gave the Dragon’s restraining claws a manicure.
The Dragon tilted its head, its brain stalling for a good while as it failed to comprehend my behavior.
A moment later.
The Dragon stared down in disbelief at its claws, which were now adorned with a black cat-eye finish. Then it looked up at me as I prepared to run with a guilty conscience.
Decisively, it picked me up in its mouth and carried me back to its cave.
Just like that, the Dragon’s psychological trauma was cured.
It poked me with a claw, spun around in delight, and proposed that it should keep me.
I agreed.
Because there was a pile of Crystal Spirits here. I had been stuck at the Golden Core Stage for a long time.
Perhaps I could use this opportunity to break through a level before the Sword Sect competition began.
When the time came, having a few more chips to crush my enemies would be worth it.
But after only two days of living together, I had reached my limit with this Dragon’s neuroticism.
For heaven’s sake! During the day, I had to scrub its scales, and at night, I had to endure the Dragon’s obsessive, intoxicated huffing of my scent.
If I ignored it for even seven and a half minutes, it would start yelling, howling incessantly: “Human, why aren’t you paying attention to me? Look at me-”
I plan to run away from home tonight.
