I hugged my favorite ribs, gnawing away until my face was covered in grease, not caring what the people at the next table were saying.

The Emperor Lord propped his head on his hand, spinning his teacup, and sighed leisurely.

“Can you stop looking for your mother?”

“No.”

I shook my head.

“How about I find you a master?”

“Don’t want one.”

I shook my head again.

“Your mother never returned to that mountain.”

I kept gnawing.

“Little one, the Dragon Clan does not have the habit of raising their young. It’s normal for her to leave you. You shouldn’t be so attached to this.”

I pouted, then tilted my head back and shouted:

“I want my mother, want my mother, I just want my mother…”

“Alright, alright, we’ll keep looking.”

I immediately stopped shouting, pointed happily at the empty plate on the table, and said:

“I want more ribs.”

“…”

The day the Emperor Lord took me away from the mountain, he had already stood up the invitation from the South Sea.

Later, because he couldn’t find my mother, he missed several Dharma Assemblies one after another.

In the past two years, he carried me up to the Heavenly Court and down to the Underworld, looked into the Brahma Mirror, and checked the Book of Life and Death.

Still, he couldn’t find any trace of my mother.

“Donghua, oh Donghua, you’ve been clever all your life, but now you’re muddled.”

“What do you mean?”

“With all this earth-shaking searching, if she were around, even if she were just a mayfly, you would have found her by now.

“Since there’s no news at all, she must be hiding in the Mortal World.”

“How could I not understand that? But the Mortal World is vast-I can’t take her and search everywhere, can I?”

“You really are getting old. You’ve completely forgotten about the Heavenly Fate Well of the Fate Weaver Goddess.”

I rested my chin in my hands, watching the Emperor Lord and the Bright Moon Envoy play chess, each taking turns, thoroughly enjoying myself. Suddenly, the Emperor Lord threw down his chess piece.

“Haha~ Could it be you’re so afraid of being entangled by the Fate Weaver that you don’t even dare think of her anymore?”

The Bright Moon Envoy clapped his hands and laughed, gloating:

“Let’s see if you’ll go beg her now.”

“Thanks to your reminder, I really had forgotten about those three wells.”

“Emperor Lord, what are those three wells?”

I was very curious; it sounded like they could help me find my mother.

The Emperor Lord sipped his tea without answering. The Bright Moon Envoy picked me up and said:

“Those are the Heavenly Fate Wells of the Fate Weaver Goddess. One shows your past and present lives, one reveals your blood relatives, and the last one-can show you your destined one.”

“What is a destined one?” I asked.

“That’s the person who will come riding a big horse to marry you when you grow up.”

“Xinyue, you’re getting more and more improper. She’s just a child, why are you telling her this?”

I really didn’t understand what the Bright Moon Envoy meant, so I just kept asking.

“Can the destined one help me find my mother?”

The Bright Moon Envoy was stunned, then burst out laughing, nodding repeatedly.

“Yes, yes, definitely yes.”

I saw the Emperor Lord roll his eyes at him, then reached out, picked me up, and left.
