Even Though I'm So Pitiful, What's Wrong with Having Two? - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
I am a defective omega.
Although I have a Gland, it doesn’t secrete any pheromones, nor am I affected by them.
This means my information cannot be entered into the Federation pheromone matching system, and I am unable to have an alpha husband or wife.
Furthermore, due to my defect and my reclusive personality, even finding love on my own was out of the question.
Ultimately, after I graduated from university, the Federal Government assigned me three Beta husband candidates.
Their professions were engineer, military doctor, and university professor.
Although the three of them had different jobs, their basic profiles were consistent.
They earned high salaries that could guarantee an omega’s basic quality of life; they had gentle temperaments and wouldn’t take the initiative to attack an omega; and they led monotonous lives, moving strictly between work and home every day.
After a few dates, I chose the military doctor.
That was Ning Ze.
He had a certain blunt, steady quality about him. While his face wasn’t as dazzling as an alpha’s or as beautiful and delicate as an omega’s, he had a charm all his own if you looked closely.
He had a pair of watery eyes that inexplicably reminded me of a stray puppy in the countryside.
Deceived by this harmless aura, I resolutely chose a man who was very likely to expose my true identity.
It wasn’t until the night we registered our marriage that I finally understood what it meant when they say the quietest dogs bite the hardest.
Yes.
I’m not a native; I’m a transmigrator.
The so-called “defect” is simply because I’m an Earthling.
My “reclusiveness” was because I couldn’t understand their language and couldn’t distinguish between their genders.
A knock sounded outside the villa.
Ning Ze was in the kitchen cooking, so I got up from the sofa to answer the door.
The night was hazy, and the porch light flickered on.
A tall, blonde man stood outside the door wearing a black trench coat and holding a document.
He looked down at me, his green eyes seemingly carrying a hint of a smile.
“Good evening, Miss. I am Albert Huo Lun. Is this the home of Doctor Ning Ze?”
My nose caught a faint scent, like the fresh fragrance of a bamboo forest after rain.
I couldn’t help but wrinkle my nose, unsure if it was perfume or a pheromone.
“Good evening.”
Huo Lun paused, his fingers instinctively moving to the back of his neck.
He wasn’t in his Susceptibility Period, nor was he releasing any pheromones.
Hearing the voice, Ning Ze looked over with a surprised expression. “Colonel Huo Lun, what brings you here?”
“Xiya asked me to bring something over to you.”
“Sorry for the trouble, Colonel Huo Lun.” Ning Ze walked over to my side and placed an arm around my shoulder.
Huo Lun finally shifted his gaze to Ning Ze and said, “I’ve already introduced myself. Doctor Ning, aren’t you going to introduce this lady to me?”
Ning Ze said, “This is my wife, Lin Xiangwan.”
“Hello, Miss Lin.” Huo Lun extended his hand toward me.
I gave it a polite shake and said, “Hello, Colonel Huo Lun. It’s late; would you like to come in for a cup of tea?”
“Miss Lin is so hospitable, how could I possibly refuse?”
“…”
I was stunned. Do foreigners not understand polite social cues?
After Ning Ze poured him a cup of tea, he went back to cooking.
Huo Lun sat on the sofa, watching Ning Ze stir-fry in an apron with surprise. “Doctor Ning is usually so busy with work; I didn’t expect him to cook at home too.”
I: “…”
He was definitely taking a jab at me.
The house had an open kitchen, and I was sitting on the sofa opposite Huo Lun.
Hearing this, Ning Ze didn’t seem to mind. “You’re far too kind, Colonel Huo Lun. It’s just a small matter.”
Huo Lun seemed somewhat puzzled and asked, “Why not hire a housekeeper?”
I grumbled inwardly. Because in this technological age, manual labor is incredibly expensive.
Ning Ze sighed softly and met my eyes, his gaze conveying a sense of helplessness that said, *’There’s no explaining it to rich people like them.’*
I couldn’t help but laugh.
Huo Lun, seemingly lacking any social awareness, added, “My mother also loves eating fresh vegetables, so the family hired several housekeepers specifically to cook for her.”
Ning Ze: “…That’s nice.”
As the conversation hit a dead end, Huo Lun slowly looked toward me.
“I heard Miss Lin graduated from the Federal Military Academy?”
“Yes.”
“What a coincidence. I was also a student at the Federal Military Academy. I’m… three years ahead of you. You can call me Senior.”
“…Heh heh.”
The word “Senior” triggered a bizarre memory.
I remember when I first arrived eight years ago, right after a massive explosion.
I was one of the survivors of that blast.
Afterward, I was taken in by the Federal Government as an orphan and sent to school for a standardized education.
In this world, the average lifespan is 120 years, and one doesn’t reach adulthood until 28.
And so, at the advanced age of 20, I returned to middle school.
The Federation language was obscure and difficult to understand; I spent my entire time in middle school struggling to learn it.
Upon entering the Federal Military Academy, I finally made my first good friend.
She was a student in the Command Department, one year ahead of me, and I called her Senior.
She was tall, gentle, and beautiful with excellent grades-the goddess in many people’s hearts.
I thought she was an omega and felt like I had truly found a treasure.
Until one time, I went to the training room to find her.
The scent of freesia filled the entire cramped changing room, and I saw her holding my undergarments and… pleasuring herself.
I was scared out of my wits on the spot and avoided her ever since.
Good Lord, she was an alpha!
I realized belatedly that the hard thing pressed against my lower back had never been her belt buckle, but…
I treated her as a friend, but she actually wanted to sleep with me.
From then on, I gave up on the idea of making friends.
