Feed Me, Husband - chapter 1
Chapter 1
Am I going to die?
The little boy lay on the ground, his eyes shifting slightly, catching sight of the growing pool of red liquid spreading beside his face.
With the brightest color and a trace of warmth, it slowly seeped from his skin.
The little boy lay there motionless, silent, yet he smiled.
Maybe dying isn’t so bad. After all… no one needs him.
To die quietly and unnoticed like this wasn’t so bad either. Dad and Mom didn’t care anyway.
The little boy stared blankly at the azure sky and slowly closed his eyes.
Why did no one need him?
A pair of hands gently lifted him up, even holding him in a warm embrace.
The little boy opened his eyes in a daze, his vision already blurred. All he could see was a cross-shaped mark engraved on her snow-white neck.
This embrace… is so cold.
Someone softly kissed his wound, urgently licking the blood that flowed out.
Gulp, gulp.
He heard the sound of liquid being swallowed. The little boy looked at the blurry face before him. Was she drinking his blood?
“Are you… eating me?”
The little boy spoke in a low voice, already extremely weak, his little face pale.
But in those eyes, there was a hint of a smile, and even his tone lifted slightly, as if he had discovered something delightful.
Gulp, gulp.
No one answered him. Only the constant sound of swallowing liquid echoed in his ears.
“Only you… need me. Hehe, go ahead, eat, eat…”
The little boy closed his eyes with a soft laugh, his hand falling limply to the side.
The person gulping down the liquid suddenly realized something, jerked her head up, her lips stained bright red.
The little boy in her arms was motionless. She lowered her head to his chest and heard an extremely faint heartbeat.
“I-I’m sorry… I’m sorry!”
Her arms loosened, and she began to retreat in panic, wiping her mouth frantically, muttering over and over, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
“Ah-!”
With a startled cry, Gu Xiaonuan woke up in bed.
She looked at the familiar furnishings of her room and realized she had had that nightmare again.
The faint red in her eyes faded as she checked the time-2:30 a.m.
The lights outside were still flashing. This was a city that refused to sleep, even at this hour.
Gu Xiaonuan got out of bed, frowning. Her loose pajamas couldn’t hide her slender yet curvaceous figure.
Her exposed skin was pale and luminous, emitting a faint, cool glow.
She stood shrouded in darkness, gently pulling back the curtains to gaze at the night outside.
Her delicate features and long, slightly wavy black hair were reflected in the glass. Her appearance should have been irresistibly sweet, but those eyes added a touch of coldness.
Especially in the dark of night, the faint red glimmer in her eyes made Gu Xiaonuan exude an aura of danger.
Thinking of the dream just now, Gu Xiaonuan’s brows furrowed even more.
Twenty years. How much longer would this dream torment her?
Her red lips parted slightly, revealing the sharp fangs hidden within her mouth.
As a Vampire, that was the first time her own reckless greed had nearly cost a human their life.
The child in her arms had been as cold as she was, which finally snapped her back to her senses.
Gu Xiaonuan couldn’t help but cover her face with her hand, as if she could still clearly recall the sweet taste from back then.
It was so sweet that she nearly forgot everything, wanting only to devour him, bite after bite, until nothing was left!
Bzz-! Bzz-!
Suddenly, the vibration of her phone jolted her back to reality.
“Xiaonuan, I knew you’d be the only one awake at this hour!”
On the other end was a voice urgently seeking help. “I was supposed to pick someone up at the airport, but something came up and I can’t go! I called everyone, and only you can save me, Xiaonuan!”
“No problem. Send me the exact time and pickup location. I’ll head out now.”
“Oh my god! Xiaonuan, you’re the best! I’ll treat you to a big meal! I’ll send you the details right away!”
After hanging up, she yanked off her pajamas, her delicate figure standing in the room as she quickly changed clothes. It took only a few minutes.
Dressed in casual sportswear, a baseball cap, her long hair in a ponytail, and a face that looked ageless even without makeup.
Gu Xiaonuan drove straight to the airport.
“Xiaonuan, the person you’re picking up is a newly returned rising star author, and the publishing house is interested in signing a contract with him.”
The message came through. Gu Xiaonuan glanced at it and focused on driving.
“Here’s his profile and the contract. Just give him the contract, and you don’t need to worry about anything else! Xiaonuan, you’re my lifesaver!”
Gu Xiaonuan looked at the file sent over, replied with a sticker, and continued to focus on the road.
Arriving at the airport half an hour early, Gu Xiaonuan sat in her car, flipping through the information.
Though it was called a profile, it only contained a few lines: name, age, achievements, and a photo.
The man in the photo had refined features, fair skin, and a gentle warmth between his brows. His black hair was so smooth that not a single strand stuck out, and the corners of his mouth curved slightly upward, giving the illusion that he was always smiling.
Gu Xiaonuan looked at the photo and smiled softly. What a sunshine-like young man.
As the time to meet the arriving flight approached, Gu Xiaonuan quickly got out of the car and entered the arrival hall. Unlike usual, the hall was surprisingly crowded at this hour, and most of the people were young.
With just one glance, it was clear that this was a group waiting to greet a celebrity.
Wearing a baseball cap, Gu Xiaonuan stood in the back corner, peering over the crowd toward the arrival gate. Even at such a distance, her view remained clear.
Soon, a commotion broke out at the gate, and all the young people surged forward, blocking the way completely.
People kept coming out from inside, struggling to make their way through the crowd.
A figure emerged, dragging a suitcase. He wore simple jeans and a T-shirt, also with a baseball cap.
His figure was tall and slender, but the exposed parts of his body were solid and strong. With each subtle movement, the lines of his muscles were clearly visible.
The face beneath the cap lifted slightly, as if searching for someone.
A few young girls waiting for the celebrity couldn’t help but exclaim, “Ah! That guy is so handsome!”
“Wow, is he someone who hasn’t debuted yet?”
Noticing their gaze, the young man smiled gently, and the girls immediately blushed.
“Mr. Lu?”
At some point, Gu Xiaonuan had made her way through the crowd and was now standing beside him.
“Ah, yes, that’s me.”
The young man was momentarily stunned, his eyes settling on the beautiful woman smiling at him.
“This is my business card. It’s a last-minute arrangement-I’m here to pick you up.”
Gu Xiaonuan handed over her card, bending slightly to take his suitcase from the other side.
Her loose clothing shifted with the movement, revealing a stretch of fair neck, where a cross-shaped mark caught the man’s eye.
“You must be tired from your journey. Let me take you to your hotel first.”
“Thank you, I appreciate it.” The young man smiled, following Gu Xiaonuan out of the airport.
“My luggage is heavy, let me handle it.” When they reached the car, the young man spoke with a smile, decisively taking the suitcase from Gu Xiaonuan’s hands.
Gu Xiaonuan smiled and didn’t insist. “I’m really sorry to trouble you with this.”
“It’s fine. I can’t let a young lady carry my luggage.”
His long fingers gripped a spot on the suitcase, and with a forceful motion, he lifted it up.
Whoosh-
A sweet scent, like a freshly baked cake, rushed into Gu Xiaonuan’s nose.
In just a few seconds, a red haze appeared in Gu Xiaonuan’s eyes.
Why, why is this happening…
She wasn’t a Vampire who lost control at the scent of blood. She possessed a self-control that even her Fellow Kin found astonishing, never having been obsessed with any human’s blood.
Except for that one, twenty years ago.
“Miss Gu? Are you alright? You don’t look well.”
“I’m fine. It’s probably because this was a last-minute arrangement and I didn’t get enough rest.” Gu Xiaonuan quickly stepped back half a pace. “Mr. Lu, are you hurt? It’s better to check.”
The man paused, his dark eyes belatedly glancing at his hand. “Maybe I scratched myself while moving the luggage. It’s nothing, just a small wound.”
“Even small wounds should be treated. Don’t ignore it.”
No, this scent is too sweet…
Gu Xiaonuan swallowed, quickly pulling out a band-aid from her bag. “Please take care of it yourself.”
She hurriedly slipped into the car, catching sight of her own eyes turning red in the rearview mirror.
Her throat was dry, so thirsty.
Her fangs began to emerge from beneath her flesh, when-snap-the car door behind her opened.
As the man entered, that overwhelmingly sweet scent filled the entire car.
Gu Xiaonuan’s body trembled violently. He hadn’t treated his wound.
“Why-!” For a moment, she lost control and her voice rose sharply. She quickly reined in her nearly uncontrollable emotions. “Mr. Lu, why didn’t you treat your wound?”
“Oh, it’s nothing. It’s just a small cut, no need to cover it.”
The man in the back seat smiled lightly, his slender body reclining. “I’m a bit tired. Please wake me when we arrive.”
“…Alright.”
At 4 a.m., the car drove through the city, finally quiet.
Streetlights occasionally passed by outside, casting their glow into the silent car.
Shadows sometimes fell into the back seat, where the man leaned back, his baseball cap covering his face, one hand lazily resting on his knee, a fresh cut on his index finger.
Inside the car were his steady breaths, Gu Xiaonuan’s inexplicable swallowing, and the slowly rising corners of his mouth beneath the cap.
