Feed Me, Husband - chapter 14
Chapter 14
Before Gu Xiaonuan could even say a word, the things from her previous apartment were quickly packed up and delivered to her.
Ji Xiangnan didn’t even show his face. Looking at the several packed boxes, Gu Xiaonuan curled her lips-truly worthy of being the Old Man.
Gu Xiaonuan first took out her phone and laptop, then swiftly pulled out a set of clothes. After changing, she opened the door and left.
With Lu Yichen on Ji Xiangnan’s turf, he would be very safe.
She no longer needed to follow him around constantly, which was a real relief for Gu Xiaonuan.
“Xiaonuan, you’re finally back at work?”
After being absent from the office for several days, Gu Xiaonuan was greeted with much concern as soon as she appeared. She had taken nearly ten days off, citing sick leave.
Fortunately, she was always efficient and did her work well, and she got along with everyone, so there was no gossip behind her back.
“Are you feeling better? You still don’t look fully recovered. Do you want to take a few more days off?”
“No need, I’m much better now.”
Gu Xiaonuan sat down. When she left, Lu Yichen seemed not to have woken up yet. She sent him a message, telling him not to go out unless necessary.
She also messaged Ji Xiangnan, but after waiting a long time, neither of them replied.
Lu Yichen was probably still asleep, but Ji Xiangnan…
Gu Xiaonuan curled her lips. This wasn’t the first time she’d run into this. The first time, she’d panicked and ran out, only to smack right into the doorframe, which Ji Xiangnan had teased her about for a long time.
Having lived for 300 years, he told her that tasting was an art-it was about eating the most delicious food at the perfect moment.
In the end, Ji Xiangnan just laughed and gently patted Gu Xiaonuan’s head.
“Little one, you’d better stick to blood bags.”
Looking at her phone, Gu Xiaonuan thought, the Old Man really hated being disturbed while savoring food. If it weren’t for her, anyone else who interrupted him would have been thrown out already.
“With so much variety, aren’t you afraid of overeating?” Gu Xiaonuan muttered softly, focusing on her own work.
“Xiaonuan, come here for a moment.”
Sister Liu pushed open the door and called out. Gu Xiaonuan quickly went in. It was clear that Sister Liu was a bit disappointed about not signing Lu Yichen’s new book.
“This is a new author we’ve signed, just a short-term contract. You’ll be in charge of following up and urging him to submit his manuscript on time.”
“Okay.”
Gu Xiaonuan took the document and heard Sister Liu sigh, “I thought there was hope with Lu Yichen, but as expected… our reputation is still too small.”
“Sister Liu, let’s try harder next time.”
“Alright, go on and get busy.”
Gu Xiaonuan pushed the door open and left, just in time to bump into a colleague head-on. She could have dodged instantly, but that kind of speed was clearly not human.
“Ah, sorry Xiaonuan, did I hurt you?”
The colleague quickly apologized, reaching out to steady her, but Gu Xiaonuan hurriedly stepped back. “It’s fine, I’ll get back to work.”
She hurried back to her seat, her mind still on her phone, but still, no one had messaged her.
A busy day passed. At 8 p.m., Gu Xiaonuan returned to the apartment next door that Ji Xiangnan had prepared for her.
She glanced at Ji Xiangnan’s door and sighed. Forget it, better wait until the Old Man cools off.
When she opened her own door, the boxes in the living room were still stacked just as they were when she left, except now all the lights in the apartment were on.
From the room where Lu Yichen was staying, she could faintly hear the sound of typing and a phone call.
Gu Xiaonuan continued to unpack her things. Checking the time, she got up and walked into the bathroom.
The house Ji Xiangnan prepared for her was exactly the same as his own, with the same layout-spacious, bright, and fully furnished.
Gu Xiaonuan stood in the cold water, listening to the sounds outside. Lu Yichen seemed to be on a conference call, the discussion still ongoing.
A faint hunger stirred in her stomach. Gu Xiaonuan frowned slightly. It had only been a day and a half-was she already hungry?
As if to wash away this hunger, the sound of running water intensified, the cold stream continuously flushing over her.
Outside, Lu Yichen stepped out of the room and saw the coat left on the sofa. For a moment, a flash of delight crossed his face.
He hadn’t seen her all day, and now, finally, she was back.
His slender fingers picked up her coat, but as he brought it to his nose, he froze in midair.
The man narrowed his eyes slowly. Why did her clothes carry another scent?
“Ah, your conference call is over?”
Gu Xiaonuan emerged from the bathroom, her hair slightly damp. Lu Yichen stood by the sofa, smiling gently at her. “Yes, it’s finished. You just got back?”
“That’s right. I’ll keep unpacking. You should go to bed early.”
Gu Xiaonuan walked past him, directly bypassing Lu Yichen. The man’s fingers gently caught her wrist. “Did you… go somewhere else today?”
Gu Xiaonuan turned her head. Lu Yichen’s eyes were fixed on her. With a gentle tug, he pulled her into his embrace.
“Lu Yichen?”
Gu Xiaonuan quickly stepped back, her waist pressing against the sofa behind her.
His arms fell, resting on either side of her on the sofa, his body leaning in slightly, forcing her to retreat.
“Does Miss Gu like men’s cologne?”
He asked softly, his eyes locking onto Gu Xiaonuan’s gaze. “It’s just that this scent doesn’t quite suit Miss Gu.”
“What men’s cologne…” Gu Xiaonuan recalled bumping into someone earlier in the day-perhaps she’d accidentally picked up the scent then. Was his sense of smell really that sharp?
“You…” Gu Xiaonuan frowned. Only then did Lu Yichen step back, giving her space to stand upright.
“Are you hungry?”
His slender fingers tugged lightly at his collar, revealing his fair neck.
Lu Yichen stood there, his eyes moist. He retreated slightly, his lower back leaning against the bar counter in the open kitchen.
Gu Xiaonuan looked at his exposed neck, the sound of blood rushing beneath the skin impossibly enticing.
Lu Yichen spread his arms slightly, a posture of complete surrender.
As if bewitched, Gu Xiaonuan walked over.
The man’s dark eyes lowered, and he drew her into his arms. The moment her fangs appeared, his thin lips pressed against hers.
A wound opened on his lips, and blood immediately welled out. Gu Xiaonuan drank desperately, while Lu Yichen, being fed upon, flushed slightly, his hand cradling the back of her head, refusing to let her go.
Blood dripped from his fair skin onto his clothes. Gu Xiaonuan, gasping for breath, left his lips and bit down on his neck.
A muffled groan escaped him as Lu Yichen lifted her by the waist.
Click.
At that moment, the door opened. A figure slipped in silently, watching the entwined couple without any change in expression.
Ji Xiangnan leaned against the doorframe, his dark eyes behind his glasses fixed on Gu Xiaonuan, who was lost in Lu Yichen’s blood, watching her little fangs pierce the pale skin.
And her eyes, gradually burning red from the blood.
Ji Xiangnan slowly curled his lips. “Not bad, little one. You’ve grown up.”
