Feed Me, Husband - Chapter 15
Gu Xiaonuan knew it was Ji Xiangnan who had arrived. He always spoke with a strange, ambiguous tone, his emotions unreadable.
But she couldn’t stop. The sweet, flowing blood made her unable to lift her head, unable to pull her teeth away from his body.
After a few more mouthfuls, Gu Xiaonuan finally raised her head, panting. Her reddened eyes looked toward the door, only to find that Ji Xiangnan was already by her side without her noticing.
He smiled, reached out, and gripped Gu Xiaonuan’s head.
With a gentle tug, he pulled her out of Lu Yichen’s arms.
For a moment, Gu Xiaonuan wanted to break free, but she couldn’t resist his strength at all. Like a rabbit, she was lifted and placed on the ground.
Lu Yichen leaned against the bar, a faint blush still on his cheeks, and a few drops of blood remained at the bite marks on his neck.
Ji Xiangnan’s other hand reached over and wiped those drops of blood onto his fingers.
“Old Man!”
Gu Xiaonuan’s breath caught. Ji Xiangnan glanced back at her, his cold eyes meeting hers, and smeared the blood-stained fingers across her lips.
Gu Xiaonuan was stunned. Ji Xiangnan’s voice was flat and emotionless. “Haven’t I taught you not to waste food?”
Suddenly, Lu Yichen’s knees buckled, his tall body about to collapse. Gu Xiaonuan darted forward and caught him from the front.
“Especially with feeding wounds, don’t leave any blood behind. If you leave blood after feeding, to our kind, it’s an invitation.”
“I understand.”
Gu Xiaonuan held the man in her arms, trying to carry him back to the bedroom.
Lu Yichen leaned heavily against her, his arm draped over her shoulder. As she picked him up, he wrapped his arm around her neck.
His head was lowered, black hair covering his eyes and half his face.
“Little one, I’m not finished talking.”
Ji Xiangnan spoke. Gu Xiaonuan froze and immediately stopped heading to the bedroom, turning around with Lu Yichen still in her arms.
Ji Xiangnan had always indulged her, but there were a few rules she could never break.
Don’t disturb him while he’s feeding.
When he speaks seriously, listen quietly until he’s done.
Lu Yichen rested quietly in Gu Xiaonuan’s arms, which Ji Xiangnan found satisfactory. As food, this man was quite a good choice.
“Go ahead.”
Gu Xiaonuan was as obedient as a child about to be scolded, hugging the man in her arms even tighter, as if seeking comfort.
“How promising.”
Ji Xiangnan’s tone was mocking. In a breath, he sat down on the sofa. “What time do you get off work tomorrow?”
“Should be the usual time. Why?”
“After work tomorrow, wait for me at home.”
After saying this, Ji Xiangnan stood up from the sofa. The scent of blood still lingered in the air, and his eyes behind the glasses lowered slightly.
“You really are just a kid, huh.”
“Did you come all the way here just to say that?” Gu Xiaonuan watched him head for the door. “Couldn’t you have just texted?”
“What, am I annoying you now?”
“No, not at all. I never said that.”
Gu Xiaonuan shrank back a little, instinctively hugging the man in her arms tighter. Lu Yichen let out a soft grunt. “Miss Gu, a little gentler.”
“Sorry, it was instinct.”
Gu Xiaonuan quickly loosened her grip. Ji Xiangnan had already walked out, and she hurriedly carried the weak-legged man into his bedroom.
“Are you hungry?”
Gu Xiaonuan placed him on the bed. “Have you been eating properly?”
As a writer, irregular routines were normal, and missing meals happened often. Lu Yichen was so young, but every time after feeding, his legs went weak. This made Gu Xiaonuan more and more worried.
“I don’t know how to cook human food. Should I…?”
Lying on the bed, Lu Yichen tugged her over and patted the spot beside him. “No, Miss Gu. I just haven’t been sleeping well.”
He couldn’t sleep without her-so how did he get through the past twenty-odd years?
“I haven’t slept well for a long time. I’ve been taking sleeping pills.”
Lu Yichen spoke in a low voice. “Only when I’m holding you can I stop taking the pills and not have nightmares.”
Nightmares…
Gu Xiaonuan looked at his pale face. If he kept living like this for decades, his fragile human body wouldn’t last long.
Passing away peacefully in bed… If anything were to happen to him, she could forget about escaping from the contract.
The Old Man had reminded her time and again to take care of her own food. Gu Xiaonuan sighed softly and climbed directly onto his bed.
Lu Yichen approached with a smile at the corner of his mouth, burying himself into her cold embrace.
“Little one, is he the only one who calls you that?”
His words were light, almost a murmur. Gu Xiaonuan gave a soft ‘mm’ in reply. Indeed, only Ji Xiangnan addressed her this way. The others of their kind would give Ji Xiangnan some face on the surface, but behind his back, they called her far worse names.
“What about me, then? How long do I have to call you Miss Gu?”
Lu Yichen couldn’t help tightening his arms. He sighed softly, “…Xiao Nuan.”
Leaning against the soft pillows at the head of the bed, Gu Xiaonuan felt as if her whole body had been electrified.
She was stunned, momentarily unable to react. She even thought that the instant her name was called, she heard her own heart beating-an illusion.
“Xiao Nuan, Xiao Nuan…”
Lu Yichen murmured gently. Gu Xiaonuan only felt as if her whole body was suddenly being forcefully pulled by something, drawn toward him, drawn to the voice that called her.
She couldn’t refuse, couldn’t resist.
“Xiao Nuan… mm.”
Her cold hand suddenly pressed against Lu Yichen’s lips, trembling slightly.
He can’t call her that again, he can’t!
The man nestled in her arms was surprised as well and slowly lifted his head.
In the dim room, Lu Yichen’s computer on the table suddenly lit up, and the sound of incoming messages rang out.
Gu Xiaonuan’s hand covered his thin lips; when she was sure he wasn’t calling her anymore, she moved it away.
“Someone’s looking for you.”
Gu Xiaonuan turned her gaze aside, not daring to look at him, still immersed in the feeling of being summoned just now. Was this what the Old Man meant by saying she must respond to his call?
This feeling… it was as if his voice had put a collar around her neck.
Lu Yichen raised his upper body slightly. Gu Xiaonuan thought he was about to get up, but in the next second, he pressed her down.
“Xiao Nuan…”
His low whisper was like the wind, but it crashed heavily against her cold chest, against a heart that no longer beat.
She reached out again, only for her hand to be gripped by his warm palm, held firmly, pinned above her head.
“Do you want to cover my mouth that badly?”
Lu Yichen looked down at her from above, applying slight pressure so that her upper body leaned forward a little. “Do you really not want me to call your name?”
Something flashed in his eyes.
Gu Xiaonuan’s voice stuck in her throat. Lu Yichen gave a light laugh, let go of her hand with ease, and left the bed to sit in front of the computer.
His beautiful fingers continued tapping at the keyboard, focused on replying to some messages.
Gu Xiaonuan looked at his profile, then silently got out of bed, pushed open the door, and left.
Lying in bed, Gu Xiaonuan found herself unable to sleep. The only sound in the room was the ticking of the second hand. Tossing and turning, every time she closed her eyes, all she saw were Lu Yichen’s eyes.
“This is really too much, letting a piece of food get me all restless.”
Gu Xiaonuan covered her face, murmuring to herself as she lay in bed. The door was pushed open, and Lu Yichen walked in.
“Aren’t you…!”
On the bed, Gu Xiaonuan watched as he walked over calmly, lifted the covers as if it were the most natural thing in the world, and slipped under the blanket.
The warmth of a human body drew close again. His arm gently pulled her into his embrace.
She faced away from him, and at the back of her neck was his warm breath.
“You left, so of course I had to come find you.”
Lu Yichen whispered, “Didn’t I say? Without Miss Gu, I can’t sleep well at all.”
His embrace from behind was gentle but implied that he would not let her go.
Hearing him call her Gu Xiaonuan, Gu Xiaonuan couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Listening to his heartbeat behind her, she slowly drifted off to sleep.
The second hand kept moving. Lu Yichen, however, slowly opened his eyes.
The woman in his arms was lying with him, but there was not a trace of her that truly belonged to him.
His fingers lightly brushed the Cross Mark on her neck, sliding down along her beautiful neckline.
“Xiao Nuan.”
A soft call, and the sleeping Gu Xiaonuan instantly turned over, nestling into his arms.
His thin lips curled slowly upward; in the darkness, his eyes shone.
Ah, so this is how it is.
