Ji Xiangnan looked at Gu Xiaonuan, whose head was hanging over the edge of the sofa, and spoke with a hint of mockery, “Got disciplined again?”

Cold fingers reached for her neck. Gu Xiaonuan grimaced and cried out in pain. Ji Xiangnan gave a cold snort, “Endure it.”

His long, jointed fingers pressed down forcefully. Gu Xiaonuan’s whole body wanted to curl up from the pain, but she held back.

After a few such presses, sweat broke out all over her from the pain, but finally, she could turn her head freely. Ji Xiangnan calmly checked the rest of her body and, after making sure there were no other serious wounds, sat down next to her.

“Don’t go out these days. Stay here quietly.”

Gu Xiaonuan responded with an “Oh,” then thought about what he had just said. “Is he really dead? He…”

Ji Xiangnan grunted, his brows tightly knit, seemingly unwilling to discuss anything else. Gu Xiaonuan stared at Ji Xiangnan. “Was he… killed by someone of the same clan?”

“There’s no use in you knowing these things. You just need to stay here quietly until I get back.”

“You’re going out? Where to?”

Ji Xiangnan shot her a cold look. Gu Xiaonuan immediately understood-asking would get her nowhere. Though Ji Xiangnan protected her, he rarely allowed her to be too involved in his life.

Gu Xiaonuan stood up from the sofa, her neck still aching a bit. She’d always been grateful for staying safe all these years.

Whatever Ji Xiangnan told her to do, she would do. He never gave her answers, and she never asked a second time.

“Then… you be careful too.”

Gu Xiaonuan walked to the door. After saying this, she pushed the door open and left. Ji Xiangnan sat on the sofa and, after a while, exhaled deeply.

A 300-year-old Vampire, getting reminded by a kid not even fifty years old-he really didn’t know whether to feel amused or annoyed.

Gu Xiaonuan rotated her neck slightly as she walked out. The dark corridor outside suddenly lit up with movement.

At the doorway on the other side, Lu Yichen was squatting on the ground, hugging his knees.

For a moment, Gu Xiaonuan thought he looked like an abandoned pet that had found its way home, waiting for its owner to come.

“Done talking?” Lu Yichen saw her come out and slowly stood up from the floor. His warm fingers reached over to touch her neck. “Are you okay now?”

“The Vampire Clan heals quickly. Why didn’t you come in?”

Gu Xiaonuan entered the code and opened the door. Lu Yichen followed her, seeming a bit dazed, leaning against her, his warm breath brushing her cheek.

“I don’t remember the code here.”

“The code is simple, it’s-!”

His warm palm gently covered her lips, his head resting on her shoulder from behind. “I don’t want to remember. We won’t always be here.”

“We may not be here forever, but we’re not leaving for now.” Gu Xiaonuan turned slightly. Her neck still felt a bit sore, but it didn’t matter anymore. She wrapped an arm around him, half-hugging him as she led him toward the room.

“Why won’t we leave for now?”

Lu Yichen, supported by her, entered the bedroom and sat on the bed. Gu Xiaonuan didn’t answer and turned to leave.

“Where are you going?”

He grabbed her cold wrist, tugging gently. “Don’t go.”

“I’m just going to my own room to tidy up, I’ll be back soon.”

Gu Xiaonuan looked back and saw the flash of fear in his eyes. The hand holding her wrist tightened slightly, then let go.

“…Alright.”

Lu Yichen sat there with his head lowered. Only then did Gu Xiaonuan notice the mess on his white T-shirt, with even some bloodstains.

He was still afraid. Gu Xiaonuan was silent. He was human; of course he couldn’t easily recover from that terror.

His beautiful hands tightened slightly at his sides, trembling faintly. Lu Yichen looked up, as if there were a glint of moisture in his eyes.

Gu Xiaonuan walked over, stood in front of him, and hugged him tightly in her cold arms.

His face pressed against the spot where her heart would never beat again.

Lu Yichen’s body shuddered violently. Gu Xiaonuan hugged him even tighter.

After hesitating a few times, the man’s arms finally wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer bit by bit.

He sat at the edge of the bed, tightly hugging Gu Xiaonuan who stood before him. Surrounded by her cold body, Lu Yichen felt that at this moment, it would be even better if her fangs could pierce him.

With a forceful pull, he made her kneel at the bedside. Lu Yichen lifted his white T-shirt from below, exposing his chest.

Near his heart, Gu Xiaonuan’s bite marks still remained.

His warm fingertips guided her cold fingers to that spot.

Thump, thump.

Gulp.

Gu Xiaonuan heard herself swallow, but she couldn’t bite that spot again.

Besides, it hadn’t been long since her last feeding.

“I’m not hungry.”

She pulled down his shirt and quickly opened the door and left. Lu Yichen sat at the bedside, watching her quickly disappear as if fleeing, then his body went limp and he collapsed into the bed.

The one who was hungry was him.

Hearing the sound of shower water from the next room, Lu Yichen sat up and took off his white T-shirt, his fair, slightly muscled upper body completely exposed.

He tossed the white T-shirt on the floor and opened the door to leave.
