Feed Me, Husband - Chapter 26
The words “mind” almost slipped out, but Gu Xiaonuan held them back.
She was shocked by her own first reaction-she actually wanted to provoke a Vampire who was about the same age as Ji Xiangnan, all for Lu Yichen.
Standing before her was a woman who had lived for over 280 years, a Vampire who, if she wished, could sever Gu Xiaonuan’s pretty head in an instant.
Gu Xiaonuan stood there, lips pressed tightly together.
For the first time, she felt a desire to protect something-Lu Yichen was her food, he was hers.
The woman’s manicured fingers lightly traced Gu Xiaonuan’s neck, the cross-shaped engraving on her nails faintly visible.
“Such an important mark for the Vampire Clan, just casually growing in a place like this. I really don’t understand why Ji Xiangnan protects you so much.”
The woman withdrew her hand and sat back down on the sofa. “Although that food is indeed tempting, I haven’t fallen to the point of sharing food with you.”
Gu Xiaonuan listened to the barbed, mocking words, but felt a sense of relief. The woman pointed to another spot on the sofa. “Sit. Xiang Nan asked me to watch over you, so naturally I have my own rules.”
Gu Xiaonuan sat across from her, expressionless. This elder Vampire, though about the same age as Ji Xiangnan, was far more arrogant in temperament.
Although 280 years wasn’t much among the Vampire Clan, in the current territory, she was already considered a senior.
Listening to her so-called rules, Gu Xiaonuan felt it was more like bossing her around.
“Every morning at 8, clean the house. The floor must be spotless.”
“I’ll bring my own food. You’re responsible for taking care of my food.”
“And…”
Gu Xiaonuan’s crimson eyes lowered, silent. Everything this elder Vampire said could be done by a housekeeper.
Meanwhile, in the bedroom, a figure quietly hid in the darkness, listening to the voices coming from the living room.
His face was slightly lowered, short hair covering most of his face, only the faintly upturned thin lips visible.
Slender, pale fingers played with a sharp-tipped cross.
With a flick of his fingers, the cross danced at his fingertips, but the sharp tip did not harm him at all.
Finally, he gripped the cross in his palm, silently walked back to the bed, and tucked it into the jeans on the floor.
The door was quickly opened. Gu Xiaonuan walked in. As she lay down on the bed, Lu Yichen deftly turned and pulled her into his arms.
He murmured something sleepily, holding Gu Xiaonuan even tighter.
Gu Xiaonuan thought she had woken him, but when she looked back, she saw he was deeply asleep-he must have just turned over in a daze.
Lying in his warm embrace, her back pressed against his chest, she could feel the heart inside beating steadily.
Gu Xiaonuan couldn’t help but turn around, her eyes watching his sleeping face in the darkness.
Food, her only food.
Gu Xiaonuan frowned slightly. Was it just food? Would she really want to provoke an elder Vampire just for food?
Was she really that impulsive?
Besides, what the elder Vampire spoke of was sharing, not taking away.
Gu Xiaonuan stared at Lu Yichen’s face. Or was it that she couldn’t even share?
Among the Vampire Clan, the habit of sharing food had long existed. If she hadn’t been stuck gnawing on blood bags, she probably would have shared Ji Xiangnan’s food many times.
Even several closely related Vampires feeding on the same prey together was a common occurrence.
“Mmm…”
The sleeping Lu Yichen let out a murmur, frowning slightly. His hand, as if trying to grasp something, pulled her even closer.
Her cheek, devoid of any warmth, pressed against his chest. It seemed that every time he fell asleep, he had to hold something in his arms-otherwise, why would he always hug her so tightly and refuse to let go?
Gu Xiaonuan was still immersed in the choice she had just made. Lu Yichen’s bare body under the covers was almost completely entwined with hers.
She lifted her eyes slightly, gently placing her hand on his waist, mimicking his movements.
Gu Xiaonuan softly closed her eyes. At that moment, her phone vibrated a few times.
She looked at the lit-up screen, turned over, and saw a message from Ji Xiangnan.
“I was the one who sent her. While I’m away, she will look after you for the time being.”
Gu Xiaonuan quickly typed, “When are you coming back?”
Soon, Ji Xiangnan replied, “I don’t know. Maybe soon, maybe a long time.”
“Did you run into something tricky?”
Ji Xiangnan replied almost instantly, “Just take care of your own food. No need to worry about me.”
Gu Xiaonuan put down her phone and lay quietly with her back to Lu Yichen. The arm around her waist tightened subtly. The distance she had just managed to put between them was quickly closed again, their bodies pressed together urgently.
Lu Yichen’s dark eyes opened slightly. It seemed that sending Ji Xiangnan away was far from enough.
At seven in the morning, Gu Xiaonuan opened her eyes. The man behind her was still sound asleep.
Gu Xiaonuan was just about to get up when the man’s arm behind her tightened, flipping her over so that she was lying on top of him.
“Lu Yichen, if you’re awake, let go of me.”
Gu Xiaonuan braced herself on either side of him. She knew how fragile a human body was and tried her best not to use her strength on him. After all, the first time they met, she had broken his wrist.
“No.”
He opened his eyes, still hazy with sleep. “No, I just want to hold you. You’re not allowed to leave.”
As if acting spoiled, he murmured softly, his hand slipping under her pajamas and reaching for her back.
Smack!
His hand was mercilessly brushed away. Gu Xiaonuan broke free from his embrace with a deft movement and got out of bed lightly.
Lu Yichen sat up groggily, the covers sliding off him. The two bruised marks on his neck had deepened even more.
“Aren’t you not going to work? Why are you up so early?” He yawned, sitting dazed on the bed, a few strands of his short hair sticking up.
“I’m going next door. Don’t follow me.”
Gu Xiaonuan put on some clothes, quickly washed up, and left the bedroom. The man sitting on the bed lowered his eyes, a glimmer flashing through them, and mumbled in a daze.
Hearing the door open and close, Lu Yichen got out of bed, all traces of sleepiness gone.
In a great mood, he returned to his own room and put on some loungewear in a color similar to Gu Xiaonuan’s.
He grabbed something from the kitchen and leaned against the bar, his dark eyes fixed on the small space beneath it, a gentle smile on his lips.
His little Vampire, when facing an elder of her kind, had actually refused to agree to share him.
Thinking of this, Lu Yichen’s cheeks flushed slightly. His hand gently stroked the bite mark on his neck. If only her little fangs could grow a bit longer.
