The girl who opened the door whispered with a red face, “It’s fine, I’ll close the door.”

Lu Yichen smiled politely and sat down beside Gu Xiaonuan. Gu Xiaonuan couldn’t help but look at him in confusion. Lu Yichen blinked, as if to say, I just want to sit next to you.

“Yichen, you’re here.”

The editor-in-chief came out from his office, pausing when he saw Gu Xiaonuan. “Is this… the editor you found?”

“Yes,” Lu Yichen replied. Gu Xiaonuan handed over her business card. The editor-in-chief glanced at it, then murmured thoughtfully, “…A junior editor, huh? Yichen, she’s so young and pretty, and she’s capable too. Why didn’t you introduce her to me sooner?”

“You flatter her. Xiao Nuan’s abilities aren’t quite enough for your department yet, but she’s more than capable of handling my work,” Lu Yichen said with a clean, comfortable smile.

Gu Xiaonuan, sitting beside him, frowned slightly. The aura around him didn’t feel happy at all.

The editor glanced at his blushing niece, then at Gu Xiaonuan, who was sitting next to Lu Yichen.

“Let her stay by your side for now, just to do some proofreading work. It’ll give her a chance to learn and gain some experience. For important matters, let the editor you selected handle them. What do you think?”

Gu Xiaonuan’s body gave a slight shiver. Lu Yichen’s thin lips brushed lightly over her fair neck. “Don’t you want to?”

Gu Xiaonuan was a little annoyed, her eyes beginning to turn red as she looked at him. “Don’t tempt me, especially in places where we might be seen.”

The man laughed. He leaned back a little, looking every bit like a devil who tempts and then pretends innocence.

He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his embrace, and rubbed his face against hers with a smile. “Are you really willing to let that woman follow me around?”

Gu Xiaonuan was silent for a while. “As long as she doesn’t take care of you, I don’t mind the rest. If there are more events for the new book in the future, I might not be able to handle everything alone.”
