The discussion salon lasted several hours before finally coming to an end. Some of the young writers suggested getting together afterward, and soon many voices chimed in in agreement.

Xiang Kaixi looked at Lu Yichen with a cheerful smile. “Lu Yichen, won’t you join us?”

Lu Yichen sat there, his glasses a little old-fashioned on the bridge of his nose, but they couldn’t hide his naturally handsome features.

He raised his eyes with a touch of languor, and the slight upturn of his lips made Xiang Kaixi blush yet again.

“I think I’ll pass. Inspiration just struck-sorry, everyone.”

Lu Yichen stood up. “If there’s another gathering, you can add her and have her contact me. See you all next time.”

He walked out. Xiang Kaixi was left standing there a little awkwardly, having no choice but to stay put. After she finished tidying things up, she hurried out to look for him, but Lu Yichen was already gone.

At home, Lu Yichen was tapping away on his keyboard in front of his computer. Gu Xiaonuan was in her own room next door.

His phone buzzed a few times. Lu Yichen picked it up, several messages popping up on the screen. He opened them one by one, and a voice message played.

“Ji Xiangnan changed his itinerary and went to Europe.”

It was the voice of the woman who had brought Gu Xiaonuan to Ji Xiangnan’s office that day-the same woman who had sobbed in the stairwell.

Lu Yichen arched his eyebrows slightly. Europe-Ji Xiangnan had actually gone to Europe.

He typed a few lines in reply and cleaned up the incoming messages. Leaning his palm lightly against his forehead, Lu Yichen let out a cold chuckle.

He still hadn’t fully managed to control himself; he had revealed his emotions in front of that Vampire.

Now, Ji Xiangnan was wary enough to go all the way to Europe. He probably suspects Lu Yichen again.

Lu Yichen sighed softly and leaned back against the chair.

A silver cross appeared, spinning deftly between his fingers. He wondered, if a Vampire over two hundred years old died now, would his little Vampire be afraid?

The image of Gong Lin about to bite Gu Xiaonuan flashed in his mind, and the cross spun even faster between his fingers, the sharp tip darting past his skin with such speed, yet never nicking him.

How dare he defile her fangs.

Crack!

The cross stopped abruptly, gripped tightly in his hand.

Inside Gong Lin’s residence, melodious music played as he stood before an easel on the balcony, finishing an artwork.

The door was opened without a sound, but Gong Lin seemed not to notice, still holding his brush as he painted.

Clang!

A chain whipped through the air. Gong Lin sensed something instantly and bared his fangs, but before he could react, a silver chain looped tightly around his neck!

“Ah!”

His fangs were strong and long; a Vampire over two hundred years old wouldn’t be truly helpless just because of a silver chain around his neck.

Sizzle-

The moment his hand touched the silver chain, the sound of burning flesh rang out. Gong Lin used all his strength and tore the chain from his neck!

Whoosh!

A silver cross flashed before his eyes. The silver chain he had just broken free from was pinned to the floor from behind by a silver cross.

What was that-

Gong Lin staggered, his body yanked backward by the chain, dropping to his knees before he could resist!

Thud!

Two small crosses were stabbed straight into his eye sockets!

Blood streamed from his eyes like crimson tears!

“Ah-!” His throat was tightly constricted, and he could only let out a muffled, agonized howl. Before his eyes were gouged out, he didn’t even see who struck!

A figure approached and crouched down before him.

Gong Lin’s face and eyes were covered in blood, the silver chain around his neck like a collar, tightly bound.

Lu Yichen curled his lips into a smile, then drove two more small sharp crosses into the palms of Gong Lin’s hands.

The Vampire knelt there, transformed into a trapped beast shackled and restrained in just a matter of seconds.

Gong Lin heard the clatter of metal. Something was shoved into his mouth, and the next moment, his fangs were savagely pulled out!

Just as he tried to roar in pain, the silver chain around his neck tightened again, forcing all the sound back down his throat.

Lu Yichen’s hands didn’t pause, and he pulled the other fang out of Gong Lin’s flesh as well.

The fangs were tossed carelessly to the ground, and the crosses blinding Gong Lin’s eyes were wrenched out with brute force.

Gong Lin’s body curled up and was once again dragged back by the chain.

Lu Yichen’s smile deepened as he leaned in, murmuring in Gong Lin’s ear, a string of words in a foreign language pouring from his lips. Gong Lin began to tremble violently as he listened.

The chains and crosses binding him were withdrawn by Lu Yichen, and Gong Lin collapsed to the floor.

On a deserted street in the silent night, Lu Yichen slipped off his coat and tossed it into a trash bin. The engraving of the cross flickered at the center of his back, then quickly vanished beneath his skin.
