After lunch, the stroll around the ancient city continued.

A steady stream of activities began, and performers in ancient costumes kept appearing, drawing bursts of applause and cheers from the visiting tourists.

“Yichen! There’s an embroidered-ball matchmaking game up ahead!”

All along the way, Xiang Kaixi worked hard to make her presence known. Since Lu Yichen didn’t tell her to leave, she just kept following him.

Lu Yichen looked up. Not far ahead, several performers in ancient costume were already in position atop a tall building, holding a large embroidered ball in their hands.

Gu Xiaonuan lifted her little face and followed his gaze, gripping his hand tightly. “Do you want to go up? I can take you up there.”

Lu Yichen smiled and patted her on the head. That bag of osmanthus cakes was all she could get.

“No need, let’s just watch from down here.”

Xiang Kaixi had already squeezed to the front and was waving at Lu Yichen, signaling for him to join her. Lu Yichen glanced at the dense crowd ahead and waved her off.

Xiang Kaixi wanted to say more, but a burst of music sounded – the embroidered-ball matchmaking game had officially begun.

Lu Yichen had no interest in any of it. Other than Gu Xiaonuan, nothing else really interested him.

He had originally thought of taking Gu Xiaonuan away while Xiang Kaixi was up front, but when he looked down, he saw his little vampire tilting her face up, staring intently at the performance on the high stage.

Lu Yichen raised his eyebrows, surprised that she would enjoy it. He gave up the idea of leaving, and just quietly stood by her side.

On the high platform, the girl holding the embroidered ball stood up shyly and nervously. Amid the laughter and chatter, she threw the ball from her hands.

The ball whooshed through the air and landed directly on the high platform, even dropping right into the arms of the actress playing the young lady.

Someone exclaimed. Lu Yichen, however, didn’t seem flustered at all. He even patted her on the head. “You used too much force.”

“Did I? I thought it was fine.”

It was just a small incident. That kind of strength wasn’t impossible, and after all, it was just a ball.

The embroidered-ball matchmaking game soon ended, and the crowd dispersed. Xiang Kaixi walked over, looking at Gu Xiaonuan with a complicated expression. Was she really an editor?

Xiang Kaixi looked at Gu Xiaonuan’s slender arms and couldn’t help but reach out. She just couldn’t believe such thin arms could have any muscle.

Gu Xiaonuan sat on the bed, her face lowered slightly. Her fangs were already starting to show uncontrollably.

In a drunken state, desire became difficult to restrain.

“I’m going out for a bit, you handle it yourself.” Without changing her clothes, Gu Xiaonuan picked up her phone and walked out.

As she walked, she replied to Lu Yichen’s message: I’m not coming over, I’m not feeling right.

He watched as the night outside deepened, the lights of the ancient town reflected in his eyes like scattered starlight.
