Late at night the following day, Ji Xiangnan returned.

Hearing the sound of a door opening next door, Gu Xiaonuan woke up. She looked at the person sleeping soundly beside her, gently pushed away his arm, and went to the next room.

Gu Xiaonuan pushed open the door of the adjacent room. Ji Xiangnan was sitting on the sofa and turned his head slightly to look at her. “Are you here to welcome me home, little one?”

She stood at the doorway, not knowing what to say for a moment.

Ji Xiangnan raised his eyebrow. “Are you here to ask me about your food?”

Gu Xiaonuan made a quiet sound of agreement. Ji Xiangnan leaned his head back against the sofa. “Tomorrow, I will take him to the clan gathering. You don’t have to come.”

Ji Xiangnan turned his head, his sharp fangs already exposed. “After all, I am going to bite him in front of the clan, to declare that he belongs to me.”

Gu Xiaonuan’s hand clenched. Ji Xiangnan looked at her subtle emotions. “What, you don’t want me to bite him?”

“…No.” Gu Xiaonuan, like a child being lectured, never refuted Ji Xiangnan’s words. “I want to go together.”

Ji Xiangnan laughed. “How rare, hearing you say you want to attend the clan gathering on your own initiative.” He stood up from the sofa and, in the next second, was already in front of Gu Xiaonuan.

His cold, powerful presence pressed in on Gu Xiaonuan, and the narrow, peach blossom eyes hidden behind his glasses held a dark gleam.

His cold, pale fingertips lightly brushed over the spot on Gu Xiaonuan’s neck where the Cross Mark was.

“I have taught you not to get attached to humans, especially your food.”

“I haven’t.” Gu Xiaonuan lifted her small face to look at Ji Xiangnan. “…I haven’t.”

Ji Xiangnan narrowed his eyes, patted her on the top of the head, and with a teleport, arrived at the doorway. “Wash your food clean tomorrow. Go back.”

Snap.

Ji Xiangnan walked into the room. Gu Xiaonuan couldn’t help but reach out to press a spot on her own neck. “Old Man…”

Ji Xiangnan didn’t respond to her. Gu Xiaonuan opened the door and left. When she returned, Lu Yichen was still sleeping, but not peacefully.

Without Gu Xiaonuan in his arms, he turned restlessly. Gu Xiaonuan stood at the bedside, her gaze sweeping over his figure lying on the bed.

From his fair neck, to his curving waist, and the faintly raised legs under the blanket.

Gu Xiaonuan took a deep breath, covered her face with her hand, and didn’t understand what was wrong with her. She was becoming someone she didn’t recognize; she actually had the thought of not wanting Ji Xiangnan to bite him.

Food-he was just her food.

“Mm…” The man on the bed murmured and turned over again. “Xiao Nuan…” he called softly. Gu Xiaonuan’s body trembled, and she lay down.

An arm instantly wrapped around her, pulling her into his embrace. Gu Xiaonuan looked at his fair neck. The bite marks belonging to her had faded, almost disappearing.

Thinking about Ji Xiangnan’s fangs piercing his skin, crimson spread in Gu Xiaonuan’s eyes.

She didn’t understand why she was doing this, but her hand was already touching Lu Yichen’s body.

All she could hear was his gentle breathing; he did not wake up.

He only held her tighter, so tight that his fair neck drew even closer.

Click.

Fangs sprang from her mouth and pierced into Lu Yichen’s neck.

“Mm!”

The sudden bite made Lu Yichen frown and wake up, but he did not push away the little figure in his arms; instead, he held her even closer.
Her hand gently stroked the head resting against her neck, and she whispered, “Are you hungry?”

Gu Xiaonuan didn’t answer him. She only took another sip, looked at the fresh bite marks that had appeared, and finally withdrew her fangs.

Lu Yichen patted her back absentmindedly, as if soothing a sulky child. He wasn’t fully awake yet, and soon drifted back into sleep.

The next day, Gu Xiaonuan sat in front of her computer, reviewing manuscripts, when a message from Ji Xiangnan arrived.

“You have two hours. Clean him up, then bring him over.”

A location was sent. Gu Xiaonuan replied with a simple “Got it,” then stood up and walked to the next room.

“What’s wrong?” Lu Yichen, wearing glasses, poked his head out to look at her. The golden glow of sunset poured through the window, gilding him in warm light.

He was dressed in cozy, warm-colored loungewear, his face carrying a gentle, shallow smile.

Gu Xiaonuan walked over, pulled him out from behind the computer, and led him straight into the bathroom.

“What’s this about? You want me to shower? Now?”

“We’re going to a clan gathering tonight. The Old Man… will announce that you belong to him.”

Lu Yichen’s eyes were hidden behind his lenses. “You want me to shower-for Ji Xiangnan? Is he going to bite me?”

Gu Xiaonuan suddenly felt irritated. She pushed him a bit roughly into the shower. “Take off your clothes. We only have two hours.” With that, she took out a new bottle of body wash. “Use this.”

After speaking, Gu Xiaonuan walked out of the bathroom and leaned against the wall by the door. “You’d better hurry.”

Lu Yichen looked at the body wash in his hand, his thin lips curling up as he took off his glasses.

Soon, the sound of running water and steam drifted out.

Standing at the door, Gu Xiaonuan inhaled the scent of the body wash, forcibly retracting her own fangs.

Half an hour later, Lu Yichen came out with a towel wrapped around his waist, drying his hair with another towel. The scent that Ji Xiangnan liked lingered around him.

“Do you want to check?” Lu Yichen asked as he dried his hair, walking up to Gu Xiaonuan. “I don’t really understand if your idea of cleaning is the same as a human shower.”

Gu Xiaonuan took a step back. Lu Yichen’s hand paused mid-motion.

Those dark eyes quietly watched Gu Xiaonuan, full of hurt.

“Why are you avoiding me?”

Gu Xiaonuan stood there, her nose filled with the fresh scent of the body wash. She regretted her decision to go along. Maybe she should have just stayed home and waited for them to return.

“I’m not.” Gu Xiaonuan lowered her head, not wanting to meet his eyes. She only felt ashamed of her own weakness, and irritated that she had to share herself because she couldn’t protect him.

His damp body pressed her back against the wall. The man’s arm bent, trapping her between himself and the wall.

“Why won’t you look at me?”

Lu Yichen’s voice was low. The towel slipped from his hand, his wet black hair clinging to his skin, water droplets slowly tracing down the muscles of his shoulders.

“Are you… thinking of leaving me again?”

Gu Xiaonuan suddenly looked up. His eyes were red, tears slipping from the corners. Her cold hand couldn’t help but rise, and the moment she touched his tears, the heat was almost scalding.

He leaned in, pressing his salty tears into her mouth.
