Why was he crying again?

In the car, Gu Xiaonuan watched Lu Yichen, who sat in the passenger seat without saying a word, quietly gazing out the window.

Outside the bathroom door, after kissing her, he got up, put on his clothes, and when everything was ready, spoke in a low voice: “We can go.”

In the elevator, Gu Xiaonuan tried to take his hand, but he gently pulled away.

This was a five-star hotel. After handing her car to the valet, Gu Xiaonuan walked inside, with Lu Yichen following in silence.

On the second floor, at the executive banquet hall, Gu Xiaonuan presented the invitation from Ji Xiangnan and entered.

Turning back, she found Lu Yichen hadn’t followed.

He stood outside, like a lost fawn-clearly nervous, but doing his best to appear calm.

Gu Xiaonuan walked over and took his hand. This time, he didn’t avoid her. Instead, he gripped her hand tightly.

She felt Lu Yichen’s hand trembling, his palm slick with sweat.

Those eyes finally met hers. Gu Xiaonuan smiled, “Don’t be afraid. I’m right by your side.”

This was a Blood Clan gathering where only he was not a Vampire-it was only natural for him to be afraid. Gu Xiaonuan held his hand firmly and led him into the hall.

As soon as she appeared, the vampires instantly recognized whom she was holding.

Sherry saw Gu Xiaonuan, arched her brows slightly, and immediately turned away, pretending not to see her. Gu Xiaonuan didn’t want to exchange greetings with any of her kind either, and led Lu Yichen straight to a corner.

“Xiao Nuan.”

Lu Yichen spoke softly. Gu Xiaonuan squeezed his hand. “They wouldn’t dare bite you here.” She scanned the Blood Clan present. The Old Man’s influence has always been like this. In T City, the oldest Vampire is Ji Xiangnan.

A stir erupted at the entrance, drawing every Blood Clan member’s gaze.

It was Ji Xiangnan, in a well-tailored black suit, his refined and handsome face framed by gold-rimmed glasses, and his slightly long hair simply tied back, falling like a small ponytail over his shoulder.

Gu Xiaonuan gripped Lu Yichen’s hand even tighter as Ji Xiangnan’s gaze fell on them.

“My little one has already brought me my food.”

Lu Yichen’s eyes darkened, his grip on Gu Xiaonuan’s hand tightening.

Ji Xiangnan walked to the center with a faint smile. “Bring him over.”

Suddenly, every step Gu Xiaonuan took felt as heavy as lead. She led Lu Yichen over to Ji Xiangnan’s side.

Ji Xiangnan looked at their joined hands, and Gu Xiaonuan let go.

“I think many of our kind have misunderstood whose food this human truly is.” The blood in Ji Xiangnan’s eyes deepened. “I only asked my little one to look after him for a while. Of course, I’m willing to share with her.”

Expressions varied among the Blood Clan present, but no one spoke.

“You want to tease my little one-I never interfere. But with this one… you need to understand, he is my food.”

Snap.

A cold hand pressed to Lu Yichen’s neck. Ji Xiangnan’s fangs extended and pierced him.

The scent of fresh blood instantly filled the air. Lu Yichen’s flavor made the vampires inhale deeply, baring their fangs.

This human tastes quite good.

Gu Xiaonuan watched the blood left on his neck, saw the emptiness in Lu Yichen’s eyes in that instant, and felt that Ji Xiangnan’s fangs had pierced not only his neck, but also his heart.

“Xiao Nuan, come here.”

Ji Xiangnan looked up, Lu Yichen’s blood staining his lips.

“I permit you to share with me. Come here.”

Ji Xiangnan’s eyes were icy cold. Gu Xiaonuan knew he was showing the Blood Clan that she had this right-this food… food…

Click!

Gu Xiaonuan’s fangs appeared. Ji Xiangnan smiled and stepped back a bit. The vampires below bared their fangs, pairs of crimson eyes fixed on Gu Xiaonuan.

The vampires let out restless, low moans. Gu Xiaonuan leaned in, hearing Lu Yichen softly call her name.

“Xiao Nuan.”

Her fangs pierced his warm skin. Lu Yichen’s body trembled, and he collapsed weakly into her embrace.

Gu Xiaonuan held him tightly, drinking a mouthful of his blood.

So bitter. So bitter.

Ji Xiangnan frowned slightly. “Take him to the room upstairs and wait for me.”

Gu Xiaonuan retracted her fangs, answered softly, and picked up Lu Yichen. Under the watchful eyes of her kind, she left the banquet hall.

Gu Xiaonuan saw several humans file in. After they entered, the doors closed. Inside, another party was about to begin.

In the elevator, Gu Xiaonuan set Lu Yichen down. He leaned lightly against her and, after a long pause, murmured, “He bit me so hard…”

Gu Xiaonuan turned and saw the deep, wide bite marks left by Ji Xiangnan on his neck-his fangs so much sharper and stronger than hers.

“Does it still hurt?”

She touched the mark and saw the dampness in his dark eyes. “Mm, it hurts a lot.”

Gu Xiaonuan frowned. Didn’t most humans like the Old Man’s bite?

They entered the room upstairs. Without turning on the lights, Gu Xiaonuan brought him to the sofa in the suite. Looking at the marks on his skin, Gu Xiaonuan pressed her red lips to them.

Her delicate tongue soothed the wounds. Lu Yichen let out a low groan, his trembling arms holding her close. “Will he come back to bite me again?”

“No. Does it still hurt?”

In the darkness, the man’s head rested on her shoulder, his hand on her lower back, pulling them even closer.

“It hurts.”

Her tongue moved closer again. Gu Xiaonuan listened to his uneven breaths, desperately restraining her urge to sink her fangs in again.

Click.

The door swung open. Ji Xiangnan stepped in from the shadows, his cold gaze falling on the two of them entwined on the sofa. With interest, he said, “Don’t you want to bite him?”
