“Boss Li, it looks like this haunted house project is quite popular.”

The staff member following Li looked at the number of people queuing behind them and spoke with a smile. “If that’s the case, would you consider adding some related merchandise or special events? For example…”

The staff member spoke eloquently; it was clear he was highly capable. The tall Li stood there, nodding with a smile as he listened, appearing quite satisfied.

Queuing in front of Li were two young girls. They stood between Li and Gu Xiaonuan. Compared to Lu Yichen, who clearly had a female companion, the tall, handsome foreign man was significantly more attractive.

As it happened, the hairpins on the two girls’ heads fell to the ground. Li raised an eyebrow and leaned down to pick them up.

“Thank you…” The two girls blushed. They stole a few glances before quickly lowering their heads. Li smiled. “Shouldn’t a ‘thank you’ involve looking into someone’s eyes to be more polite?”

Gu Xiaonuan turned her head. This elder Vampire had successfully charmed those two in just a few seconds.

“Ah, weren’t we just about to go eat? Why are we standing in line here?”

The two girls couldn’t help but mutter to themselves as they stepped out of the queue.

With a lingering smile, Li took a step forward and stood directly behind Gu Xiaonuan.

He looked down at Gu Xiaonuan, who only reached his shoulder, and curled his lips. “Looking at me like that… haven’t you done the same?”

Gu Xiaonuan looked at the staff member standing with him and silently pulled Lu Yichen in front of herself.

Seeing her movement, Li couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle. He lowered his head slightly, his voice drifting from behind her along with his icy breath.

“Little one, as long as I want to, there is no hiding.”

Seeing Gu Xiaonuan’s body instantly stiffen, Li’s smile deepened. This was indeed very fun.

“Xiaonuan?” Lu Yichen looked back. Gu Xiaonuan reached out and hugged his waist directly, her body pressing against his back somewhat uncontrollably.

The warm human body temperature brought Gu Xiaonuan back to her senses. It was as if the coldness behind her didn’t dare to approach such warmth.

Being held like this, Lu Yichen’s face flushed slightly. He said nothing, letting her circle him from behind; she could even hold him tighter if she wanted.

“Teacher Lu…” Taohua, who had been focused on drawing Lu Yichen, looked up and held up her iPad. “This is what I just drew.”

“Thank you.”

Lu Yichen glanced at it. She did indeed draw very well; even a simple sketch was quite striking.

Taohua’s gaze shifted, catching sight of the hands Gu Xiaonuan had wrapped around his waist. She bit her lip slightly. “Teacher Lu, can I add your private WeChat? I’ll send the draft to you.”

Xiao Wu was a bit surprised. Taohua was actually being so proactive.

Lu Yichen’s lips curved upward. “You can add Xiaonuan as a friend. If you send it to her, I’ll be able to see it.”

Taohua lowered her head. Just then, the line finally reached them. Xiao Wu spoke up quickly to break the awkward moment. “It’s our turn. Let’s go in!”

Xiao Wu, Taohua, Lu Yichen, Gu Xiaonuan, Li, and the accompanying staff member made exactly a group of six.

“Visitors, welcome to Charlie IX’s Vampire Castle.”

Stepping inside the haunted house, the theme turned out to be vampires. Gu Xiaonuan couldn’t help but frown slightly. Charlie IX-who on earth was that?

“I am the butler of this ancient castle. Hello, everyone.” A staff member led them into a small living room decorated in a very medieval style. “First, let me introduce the history of this castle to you all.”

Listening to the introduction, Gu Xiaonuan looked around. This was a highly immersive haunted house. The decor everywhere was very meticulous; there were even small videos playing and authentic-looking cobwebs.
Gu Xiaonuan had shifted from wrapping her arms around Lu Yichen’s waist to clutching his arm.

Mr. Li made her feel very uneasy.

The tall, imposing Li stood there, his blue eyes scanning the surrounding decor. His lips curled in a mocking smirk as he glanced down at the staff member standing beside him.

A moment later, he turned and silently walked back out.

“Once you push open these doors, your adventure begins. However, you’ll need to split into two groups for now to experience different plotlines. You’ll reunite at a turning point in the story to experience the ending together.”

The staff member turned back and realized one person was missing. “How are there only five people now? Well, you’ll have to decide how to split up.”

“I can go with them.” Li smiled, looking at Xiao Wu and Taohua. He then glanced back at Gu Xiaonuan. “Those two are a couple, so let them stay together.”

Gu Xiaonuan looked into his blue eyes; flecks of blood-red were beginning to surge within them.

Li was conveying a single message to her: he was going to feed.

*Clap.*

Gu Xiaonuan gave Lu Yichen a push forward and stepped back, positioning herself next to Li. “We’ll go together. The three of them can be the other group.”

Lu Yichen looked back at her. Gu Xiaonuan gave him a look that told him not to ask questions. Li arched an eyebrow. “Fine by me.”

“Then… let the story begin. Have a pleasant journey, everyone.” Sensing the strange atmosphere, the staff member pushed open the large doors, revealing two corridors branching off to the left and right.

Xiao Wu pulled Taohua toward the left. “Teacher Lu?”

Lu Yichen looked at Gu Xiaonuan, appearing somewhat upset, but he eventually turned and followed them into the left passage. The three figures were quickly swallowed by the darkness.

“baby first.”

Li leaned forward slightly in a perfect display of aristocratic etiquette.

Gu Xiaonuan stared at him before walking into the right-hand corridor. She heard his footsteps following behind her.

The doors to both passages closed. In the shadows, two pairs of blood-red eyes lit up simultaneously.

The interior of the passage was pitch black, but to the two vampires, it was as clear as day.

None of the hidden jump-scare mechanisms had any effect on them; only the eerie sound effects and music echoed continuously around them.

Gu Xiaonuan walked slowly, her attention fixed on the elder Vampire beside her. The discomfort he caused wasn’t just physiological; it was psychological as well.

It wasn’t just the oppressive power of his age, but the aura he exuded that made her inexplicably uneasy. It felt like encountering a thug among humans.

“What’s wrong, little one?” Li looked at Gu Xiaonuan. “Does being with me displease you?”

“No.”

Gu Xiaonuan spoke in a low voice. Li laughed. His laughter was light, like the sound of the wind-much like the speed at which his body moved.

*Thud!*

Gu Xiaonuan was seized by the throat and pinned against the wall.

Li pressed his face close, using his back to block the surveillance camera. To anyone watching, it would look as though he were leaning down for a kiss.

“Little one, did Xiang Nan never teach you that predation can occur even among Fellow Kin?”

Li suddenly raised his head, fangs sliding out from his mouth.

Gu Xiaonuan’s fangs snapped out instantly as well. With a fierce snarl, she bit directly into the palm of the hand clutching her neck.

His powerful fangs moved toward her pale neck, but in the next second, Li suddenly jerked his head up.

The sweet scent of blood drifted clearly through the air, carried by the ventilation.

It was the scent of Lu Yichen.
