Gu Xiaonuan whipped her head around to look at him. The blood-red hue in her eyes, previously contained like an insect trapped in amber, suddenly broke free and bled outward.

She tightened her grip on his arm. “I told you, don’t tempt me in a place like this.”

She was irritated by his casual provocation. Did he think it was fun to toy with her like this?

Especially when he knew full well there was another restless elder Vampire lurking nearby.

Gu Xiaonuan’s face remained cold as she pulled Lu Yichen out of her embrace. “Take him to the infirmary and get that wound treated,” she said, looking toward Taohua.

Lu Yichen looked at her. “Xiaonuan?”

At this moment, Gu Xiaonuan was shrouded in a chilling aura, and her previously gentle appearance had vanished. Seeing Taohua still standing there, she snapped, “Did you not hear me?”

“Oh, right!” Taohua nodded quickly and moved forward. However, Lu Yichen shifted his body, dodging her outstretched hand.

“I can go by myself,” he said. With that, he strode toward the park entrance. Gu Xiaonuan watched his defiant back, took a deep breath, and followed him.

“Taohua, go on,” Xiao Wu whispered.

Taohua looked at them and shook her head. She found a chair, sat down, and pulled out her tablet to start drawing again.

As she sketched, she muttered under her breath, “Teacher Lu is clearly angry. I’m not about to go looking for trouble.”

Gu Xiaonuan watched Lu Yichen enter the infirmary. She didn’t follow him inside, choosing instead to wait outside.

A long time passed, yet Lu Yichen didn’t come out.

Standing by the door, Gu Xiaonuan caught the scent of his blood in the air. It had been so long-was the wound still not treated?

“Hello? Do you need some help?”

Someone pushed the door open, noticing Gu Xiaonuan’s uneasy expression as she lingered. “The sun is quite strong out here. Why don’t you come inside?”

Gu Xiaonuan hummed in response and stepped into the building. There, in the back row of the treatment hall, she saw Lu Yichen.

He was sitting in a chair, leaning slightly against a nearby pillar, looking unwell.

A young woman approached him with a cup of water. She knelt before him and asked softly, “Sir, if you’re really feeling unwell, should I help you to the back to rest? Or we could call for an ambulance.”

“I’m fine. Just let me lean here for a moment.”

Lu Yichen spoke in a low voice. He lifted his dark eyes and saw Gu Xiaonuan walking in, but he immediately averted his gaze.

“Alright then. If you feel worse, please let me know right away.” The girl placed the water on the chair next to Lu Yichen. “I’ll leave the water here. Have a sip if you can.”

“Okay. Thank you.”

Lu Yichen’s voice sounded much weaker than before. The girl nodded and stood up to leave.

Gu Xiaonuan looked at the wound on his arm. The blood had already dried, and no more was flowing out.

It was only a thin scratch, but to her, anything involving him-no matter how minute-was something she was hypersensitive to.

She would get addicted.

Lu Yichen sat there with his eyes slightly downcast. He didn’t call out to her, acting as if he hadn’t even seen her.

Looking at him, Gu Xiaonuan felt as if he were an abandoned young animal, hiding weakly in a corner to silently lick its wounds.

Catching the scent of his blood, Gu Xiaonuan found a seat as far away from him as possible.

She would wait until the scent of his blood dissipated a bit more before approaching him.

Lu Yichen watched Gu Xiaonuan sit in the farthest possible seat. The corners of his lips curled up slightly as he reached for the wound on his arm and pressed down hard.

Fresh blood was forced out of the wound. Gu Xiaonuan turned her head instantly, catching the sight of Lu Yichen clutching his arm and huddling his body slightly.

“Sir, are you alright?” The girl who had brought the water earlier ran back over. Seeing the blood on Lu Yichen’s arm, she cried, “You’re bleeding! Let me take you to the back to get that treated.”

Gu Xiaonuan sat there, staring at the blood trailing down his arm. Just as her fangs were about to emerge, she dropped her head.

“Ha…”

Gu Xiaonuan sat there, panting slightly. It was his scent. Her nose could smell nothing but the sweet fragrance of his blood in the air.

“Okay… sorry for the trouble,” Lu Yichen said. With her keen hearing, Gu Xiaonuan heard the rustle of his clothes as he stood up.

Gu Xiaonuan slowly raised her head. Her reddish eyes watched as Lu Yichen draped his arm over the girl’s shoulder, leaning his warm body against hers.

The girl reached out, wrapping her hand around his waist from behind to support him.

Lu Yichen lowered his head slightly and gave a small smile as he thanked her. His face was only inches away from the girl’s cheek.
Gu Xiaonuan clenched her fists tightly, watching him be supported by the waist as he was led step by step inside. The scent of his blood filled the air, the sweetest temptation imaginable.

Rising to her feet, she pushed open the door and strode quickly out of the hall. If she stayed any longer, she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from sinking her fangs into his arm.

Gu Xiaonuan rushed out in a disheveled state. Outside, people were everywhere.

With a flash of movement, she bolted out of the amusement park. Her blood-red eyes fixed on the back of the processing center near the entrance. Finding a deserted corner, she leaped up and quickly vanished from sight.

Inside the medical room of the processing center, Lu Yichen sat while a young woman, her face slightly flushed, tended to his wound.

His dark eyes were fixed on the window, seemingly waiting for something.

“That should do it,” the girl said, looking up at him. He was truly handsome, especially his profile.

Lu Yichen turned his head, looked at the gauze over his wound, and smiled. “Thank you.”

“Do you feel unwell anywhere else?” The girl blushed as she looked at him. “I saw you sitting there earlier looking very uncomfortable. It shouldn’t just be because of your arm.”

Lu Yichen lowered his gaze. “Yes, my chest feels very tight.”

“Is it heatstroke? The temperature outside is quite high today. If it’s heatstroke, you should rest here for a bit.” The girl stood up. “Um… would you like to exchange contact information? You can reach out to me anytime if you need anything.”

Lu Yichen looked down at his wound, then looked up. “No need. I should be fine after a little rest.”

“Alright then, get some rest.” Her face red, the girl hurried out the door. The smile in Lu Yichen’s eyes vanished completely the moment she left.

His fingers roughly tore the gauze away and tossed it onto the floor.

The wound that had just been treated began to seep blood again because of his actions.

*Whoosh.*

A figure appeared outside the window. Lu Yichen sat there, his lips slowly curving upward.

Outside the window, Gu Xiaonuan stared at him with crimson eyes.

*Clatter.*

Lu Yichen stood up and opened the window.

Like Juliet waiting for her love, he leaned against the windowsill and slowly extended his arm, offering it to Gu Xiaonuan.

He watched her swallow hard. Her cold hand touched his arm, and her cold, red lips pressed against it.

The moist tip of her tongue licked the fresh blood from his wound, yet she never once bared her fangs.

Her gentle licking was much like animals grooming each other’s wounds. Lu Yichen narrowed his eyes, looking down at her slightly lowered face.

As blood flowed out, it was swept into her mouth by her gentle tongue until no more blood emerged.

She looked up, her ruby-like eyes meeting Lu Yichen’s.

*Thump!*

The next second, the petite figure leaped in through the window, pinning him directly to the floor.

Gu Xiaonuan didn’t bite him; she just stared at him like that.

She wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do. She wanted to pierce his skin with her teeth, but the image of him leaning on another woman earlier made her want to vent her frustrations in some other way.

Footsteps approached from outside, heading toward the room.

Gu Xiaonuan moved to leave quickly, but Lu Yichen grabbed her back. Still lying on the floor, he pulled her up with one arm and sat her on the bed in the room.

*Swish.*

The curtain beside the bed was drawn, concealing both their figures.

Gu Xiaonuan was stunned. Just as she was about to struggle, the door was pushed open.

Lu Yichen’s hand supported her waist, making her sit in his lap with her back to him.

“This medicine can help relieve chest tightness…” The girl from before entered. Seeing the silhouette behind the bed curtain, she stopped at the door. “Sir, are you resting?”

With one hand, Lu Yichen pulled the curtain open slightly, while his other hand pressed Gu Xiaonuan tighter into his embrace.

“Yes. Is it alright if I lie down for a bit?”

“Yes, of course. Please rest well; I won’t disturb you.” The girl placed the medicine on the table. “I’ll leave the medicine here. If you still feel unwell, you can take some.”

“Alright, thank you.”

Lu Yichen pulled the curtain shut again. Gu Xiaonuan turned her head to look at him, but he gently pressed her back.

His warm palm slid under her clothes, touching her chest-right where her heart was located.

Lu Yichen pressed his palm over her heart, which had long since stopped beating, and held her tight.

“Xiaonuan, it hurts here.”
