Infinite Pollution: The SSS Guide Pierces the Horror Dungeon - chapter 10
Wen Song.
The familiar name entered Qin Xu’s field of vision at the very moment he tried to politely avoid Wen Song’s Light Brain.
For a moment, Qin Xu actually forgot to look away.
It was as if countless stormy waves had been stirred up in his heart.
Wen Song didn’t notice Qin Xu’s reaction at all. She simply clicked the cross, thought for a moment, then found the contact block option.
She swiftly blocked Shao An.
For a “master,” her adjustment period to no longer having a devoted follower was a bit too long.
“Wen Song.” Wen Song looked up and continued answering Qin Xu’s question.
Hearing the familiar name for the second time, Qin Xu’s fingers paused over the input, and he turned his gaze to Wen Song.
Wen Song leaned back in her chair and nodded calmly. “Mm, the one engaged to you, Wen Song.”
The air in the entire office seemed to freeze for a moment, then grew thick and heavy.
The two locked eyes, neither looking away first.
After a long while, Wen Song’s brows and eyes slowly curved into a smile. “Captain Qin, shall we continue the registration?”
Qin Xu withdrew his gaze and wrote “Wen Song” neatly and accurately at the top of the form.
Next line: Spirit Power Level.
“C-rank,” Wen Song answered smoothly.
Qin Xu’s fingers paused. He looked up. “That’s not right.”
“Hmm?” Wen Song didn’t know what was wrong, but in her memory, the school had matched her Spirit Power Level as C-rank.
“Your Spirit Power Level is incorrect,” Qin Xu repeated.
He had only been guided by a Guide twice. The first time was a remote session, the second-
Qin Xu’s thoughts halted for a moment, and he restrained himself from letting those memories surface.
But he knew his current mental state all too well.
“You’re A-rank, or… even higher,” Qin Xu said quietly.
His breathing slowed. A-rank might be a conservative estimate.
Normally, after a thorough mental guidance session, an A-rank Guide’s spirit and body would both be weakened and would need some time to recover.
But Wen Song… seemed to need no rest at all.
Wen Song’s brows furrowed as well. A-rank?
She was certain her memory wasn’t wrong.
Then, there were only three possibilities.
First, there was a mistake during the initial Spirit Power Level test.
Second, there was no mistake during the test, but someone had deliberately concealed her true Spirit Power Level.
Third, the original body’s Spirit Power Level was indeed C-rank, but her arrival had caused the level to change.
Strangely, all of Wen Song’s instincts pointed sharply to the third possibility.
She had first been tested for Spirit Power Level at age fourteen, when she was still the Wen Family’s “true daughter.”
The Wen Family’s influence in the Imperial Capital was neither small nor great, but the higher her Spirit Power Level, the more benefit she would bring to the Wen Family. They had no reason to hide it.
After that, the academy regularly tested students’ Spirit Power Levels to prevent upgrades or errors.
In all subsequent tests, her Spirit Power Level remained C-rank.
Then there was the fog that had never appeared in the original body’s memory, and the changes in the Spirit Body.
What was the reason behind it all?
“Knock, knock, knock.”
As Wen Song pondered, the door was suddenly knocked on urgently. Yu Tao rushed in, his expression anxious. “Bad news, Boss! Pollution Zone Seven is spreading! Civilians have been caught up in it!”
Qin Xu shot to his feet and strode out quickly. “Which direction?”
“Southeast,” Yu Tao replied.
“Gather all team members in the conference room!”
“Yes!”
When Qin Xu reached the conference room, he found that Wen Song had followed as well. He turned, “Guide Wen, I’ll register the rest of your information after I return. The situation is urgent right now.”
“I know. I’m going too.”
The moment Wen Song heard about Pollution Zone Seven, her forehead twitched.
Her intuition told her that she should go.
When Qin Xu heard that Wen Song actually wanted to go to the Pollution Zone, his face immediately darkened. “Guide Wen, do you even know what a Pollution Zone is? This isn’t some child’s play at the Empire Academy!”
Yu Tao quickly walked over to persuade her as well. “Guide Wen, the Pollution Zone is extremely dangerous. It’s not a place for Guides. It could take your life at any moment. Please, go back.”
Upon hearing that the Pollution Zone was spreading, all the team members, no matter what they were doing, dropped everything and rushed over.
Qin Xu didn’t waste any more time. He had already pulled up the video of Pollution Zone Seven’s expansion on his Light Brain.
Unlike the bustling Imperial Capital, the Northern Frontier was a vast expanse of white. Countless desolate ruins bore witness to the decay of this place. The uneven heights of the houses indicated that people still lived here, with faint lights glowing inside the buildings.
A few residents, bundled in heavy clothing, moved between the structures, preparing for the next day’s survival.
The accident happened on such an ordinary night.
More than ten kilometers away, Pollution Zone Seven was silently spreading.
The black mist was like a giant, bloodthirsty maw, devouring every building and resident it passed, bit by bit.
Because it was a time of rest, many people were completely unaware.
The first to notice was a little girl. She wore a tattered floral cotton jacket, rubbing her frozen hands together, preparing to bring some firewood she had chopped during the day into the house to keep her grandmother warm.
Perhaps it was the unusual sound of the wind that betrayed the Pollution Zone’s presence. The girl turned around and saw the terrifying scene of the Pollution Zone expanding madly.
“Grandma!!!” The little girl dropped the firewood in panic and dashed into the house. “The Pollution Zone is here! The Pollution Zone is here!”
Her grandmother opened her eyes, fear filling her already-clouded gaze.
In the next instant, she desperately pushed the little girl in front of her. “Go! Run! Hurry!”
The little girl wanted to take her grandmother with her, but her grandmother could no longer walk. She did her best to push the girl out, her voice firm.
“Go! Find help! Go find Captain Qin! Grandma will be fine! Go, quickly!”
The little girl stood in front of her grandmother, as if making a decision. She turned and ran outside with all her might, shouting as she ran.
“The Pollution Zone is here! The Pollution Zone is here!”
Someone heard her and ran out without even stopping to put on clothes.
Some didn’t hear, and were swallowed up by the rapidly advancing Pollution Zone.
The little girl ran with all her strength until the spread of the Pollution Zone finally stopped.
She didn’t stop, continuing to run toward the watchtower at the Northern Frontier outpost.
At last, she grabbed a Sentinel on patrol, her voice hoarse with desperation. “Please, please, save my grandma, save my grandma! The Pollution Zone is spreading, it’s spreading… wuwuwu…”
The video cut off abruptly.
As the video stopped, no one spoke.
They all knew how dangerous the Pollution Zone was. The little girl’s grandmother was probably-
“Ten minutes. Gear up, get in the vehicles, move out!” Qin Xu’s voice was firm and commanding.
Even if the chances of survival were slim, they would do everything in their power to save everyone.
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone stood up.
Wen Song also headed toward the equipment room.
“Guide Wen!” Qin Xu’s voice was icy, tinged with anger.
He hated anyone who disobeyed orders!
Wen Song turned back, staring straight into his eyes. “Captain Qin, I’m an A-rank Guide. You know what I can do in the Pollution Zone.”
