Marry the NPC with Money, Wife Comes Knocking - Chapter 10
There are many sick animals in this hospital. Is this bear rabid?
Maybe in the game settings, alcohol can make NPC actors take a detour, but for animals, they don’t care about the rules set by humans.
“Don’t just stand there, run!” Hua Suihe didn’t have time to mind the smell of alcohol all over Ban Ting. She grabbed his wrist and pulled him forward at a run.
Ban Ting’s heart nearly leapt out of his throat, but he was used to being startled and quickly regained his composure. “We can’t just run, we won’t outrun it. Get into a room to the side, quick!”
They spotted a quiet room with its door open and rushed in together. The instant they closed the door, there was a heavy bang as the door was struck.
If they’d been a moment slower, that huge beast outside could have slapped them to death.
The bear only hit the door once, then it went quiet.
Hua Suihe thought of Ye Susheng working in such a dangerous environment and grew even more anxious. What if Su Sheng was wandering around on the third floor and ran into these crazed animals?
The pitch-black room was oppressively quiet. For now, they were safe.
Hua Suihe paced absentmindedly. “It’s not hitting the door anymore, but we can’t be sure it’s gone. We can’t just stay in the room forever.”
Ban Ting was completely deflated, speaking only in a whisper, afraid of alerting the monsters. “Can we just stay in here until morning?”
Hua Suihe ignored him and went straight to the window. She drew back the curtains, revealing the moon hanging high in the sky like a sharp crescent blade, bringing the only light to this world.
[Streamer, you’re not thinking of jumping, are you?]
[Where is this? There’s no way to guarantee anyone’s safety?]
[Why is there a bear? Is this for clicks? If it’s really that dangerous, how do you even have the mind to stream?]
Hua Suihe had no time for the comments. She opened the window and looked outside to observe.
Sure enough, there was a narrow external walkway. When Yi Shuang broke through the window on the fourth floor, she didn’t jump-there was a path.
“We’ll go outside, get to another room, and exit from there.”
“We still have to go?”
“If you don’t go, I will.” Hua Suihe had no time to argue. She propped herself on the window ledge and climbed straight out.
The external corridor was very narrow, with no railing, just wide enough for one person. Although it was only the third floor, in the darkness it looked bottomless.
Hua Suihe took a deep breath, pressed herself tightly against the wall, and moved sideways toward the next room.
“Hey, you…” Ban Ting poked his head out and saw that she had already made it quite a distance. He clenched his teeth and climbed out as well.
What else could he do? He was betting he wouldn’t die.
Hua Suihe passed by several windows in a row, estimating that she had gone past four or five rooms before stopping.
The window wasn’t locked. Hua Hua opened it and carefully lifted the curtain from outside, trying to see into the room.
The glint of a knife flashed before her eyes. The sharp blade shot at her like lightning. Hua Suihe instinctively dodged back but lost her balance.
“Ahhh!!” She grabbed the edge of the curtain with a flailing hand, but her body still tilted backward.
Now she couldn’t care whether those crazed animals would come at the noise. She didn’t need to be bitten-she’d die from the fall.
If she died in the game, could she respawn?
If not, would she return to the real world?
Ban Ting, at the previous window, saw Hua Suihe clutching the curtain and struggling to steady herself. He instinctively stopped in his tracks.
At this rate, it was hard to say if she could regain her footing, but her scream would definitely draw the monsters.
Ban Ting was caught in the dilemma of whether or not to save her.
Hua Suihe didn’t struggle for long-the curtain couldn’t hold her weight and came crashing down.
The tension inside Hua Suihe finally snapped.
[Holy crap holy crap holy crap!]
[Don’t die! Don’t die on my phone! How do I save her, what do I do?!]
[Wait-what’s that guy next door doing? Why is he climbing in through the window? Isn’t he going to help?!]
[This is a disaster. Is this a TV show? Are they filming? I don’t want to watch, ahhh!]
Hua Suihe closed her eyes and resigned herself, trying to hypnotize herself: It’s just a game, falling doesn’t hurt, falling doesn’t hurt…
Suddenly, a strong pull yanked the curtain, dragging her body back from the window.
Hua Suihe screamed, clutching the curtain fabric, her body limp with fear, but her grip so tight her knuckles turned white.
Then a cold hand gripped her wrist, pulling her in from outside the window and back into the room.
“Hua Hua, Hua Hua! Are you hurt? Where does it hurt?” A trembling hand searched her face, wiping the cold sweat from her forehead.
Crying, Hua Suihe threw herself into her arms, enveloped in that familiar cool scent, still shivering from the shock.
Ye Susheng wrapped her arms around Hua Suihe, not daring to hold her too tightly, afraid of touching any injuries.
“Hua Hua, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry… I shouldn’t have left you alone…”
Hua Suihe wiped her tears on Ye Susheng, sobbing, “I almost died, wuwuwu…”
Suddenly, the pitch-dark room was flooded with light, so bright that Hua Suihe instinctively squeezed her eyes shut.
Ye Susheng apologized over and over, guilt-ridden, crying even harder than Hua Hua.
Once the lights came on, Hua Suihe calmed down.
She dried her tears, then looked up at Ye Susheng, who was crying so hard she was a mess.
She’d almost fallen, and had scared her lover out of her wits.
Hua Suihe cupped Ye Susheng’s face in both hands, her voice choked as she tried to comfort her: “It’s okay, I’m fine, I’m not hurt. Ye Zi pulled me up.”
Ye Susheng’s eyes were always a deep crimson, but now, after crying, they were so red you couldn’t even see the whites.
Hua Suihe was used to this, and deftly wiped her tears. “Don’t cry, don’t cry, Hua Hua’s not hurt.”
[Wait-wait! Isn’t the White-Haired Girl actually Ye Susheng?!]
[Ahhh! What the hell! The character model came to life?!]
[Ye Susheng! HD Ye Susheng! She’s Hua Hua’s wife!]
[I have a wild theory…]
[Could this Ye Susheng actually be our Hua Hua?]
[What kind of livestream is this? We know Hua Hua died suddenly, so if this is really her… I’m getting chills.]
[What’s so scary? Maybe she faked her death. Would Hua Hua really hire someone to play her wife and act all lovey-dovey?]
[Did I stumble into a horror channel? She doesn’t even have any whites in her eyes-is she a ghost?]
“Hua Hua, don’t play games anymore. I want to stay with you all the time.” Ye Susheng said, aggrieved, pressing Hua Suihe’s hand to her own cheek, her other arm tightly wrapped around Hua Hua’s waist, as if she was afraid to let go.
“Yeah, no more games.” Hua Suihe remembered her goal. “This animal hospital is weird. After the doctors leave, the sick animals just run wild. There are a lot of big animals here too-it’s not safe at all. Ye Zi, don’t go to work today. If we lose today’s pay, so be it.”
“This place is really not suited for Script Game…” Hua Suihe’s voice faded.
Ye Susheng was a regular staff member in the troupe who assigned tasks. The Script Game’s location was set by the troupe, and had nothing to do with Ye Susheng herself.
