After the game system prompted a successful clearance, the personal perspective livestream room also showed as closed, and there was no way to start a new stream.

The pet hospital was quiet after dawn. The elevator went straight to the first floor, and not a single doctor was seen. Walking out the main entrance, even the security guard was nowhere to be found.

Leaving the hospital, Su Sheng pulled Hua Hua to the nearby bus stop to wait for a bus. Bored, Hua Suihe wanted to take out her phone to check the time, but her pocket was empty.

Her phone had been taken back after leaving the hospital.

Not long after, a white No. 33 bus drove up and stopped in front of them.

Ye Susheng led Hua Suihe onto the bus, swiped the bus card twice, and took her to sit in the double seat at the back.

They were the only two people on the bus.

Hua Suihe propped her chin and stared blankly at the passing streets. It must have been too early; the streets were deserted, heavy with fog, cold and lonely.

Su Sheng pressed close to her arm and asked with concern, “Hua Hua, are you hungry?”

Hua Suihe touched her stomach. “I’m okay…” She paused, yawned sleepily, “But I’m really tired, stayed up all night.”

Su Sheng gently wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes, coaxing her softly, “Get some sleep. I’ll wake Hua Hua when we arrive.”

Hua Suihe slowly closed her eyes, tilted her head onto Su Sheng’s shoulder, murmured weakly, and soon fell into a deep sleep.

She felt her body falling, as if being pulled into a bottomless pit, unable to move no matter how she struggled.

She tried hard to open her eyes. The black mist blocking her vision suddenly changed color, red ink swirling within the darkness, gently spreading before her eyes.

She stepped into the blood mist, her vision blurred, and only when she bumped into a railing did she realize she was back at the pet hospital’s main entrance.

This time, she saw the security guard’s face clearly-no eyes, no nose, only a mouth taking up the entire face, grinning ‘friendly’ at her, drool dripping from the corners.

Hua Suihe’s legs went weak, and she staggered back a few steps until her back pressed against the cold wall.

The scene changed again. She was in a cramped elevator lit by a white fluorescent lamp. Next to her stood a female doctor in a white coat, wearing thick glasses, but her eyeballs bulged unnaturally, crazily rolling against the lenses, sticky and bright red liquid streaming from her eye sockets, dripping onto the elevator handrail.

The absurd scene shocked Hua Suihe’s nerves. She screamed, hugged her head, and squatted down. The scene changed again; she was covered in shadow, her arm pressed against the leg of a wooden table.

She was crouching under the table.

In front of her was a dust-covered eyeball, its black pupil reflecting her panicked face.

Then a child’s small hand reached out and grabbed the round eyeball.

Hua Suihe’s gaze followed the arm upward. A little girl squatted in front of her, tilting her head, looking at her with pitch-black eye sockets. When their eyes met, the girl gave a pure, innocent smile.

“Sister, hello~”

“Ah!!!”

Hua Suihe jolted awake, a chill rushing up from her feet along her spine. Cold sweat slid down her forehead, her face pale as paper, her eyes filled with terror and confusion.

“Su Sheng…” Hua Suihe looked around mechanically, realizing she was alone on the bus, not even the driver was there.

Her hand gripped the edge of the window, fingertips still trembling. Everything from the dream was still vividly imprinted in her mind, impossible to shake off.

Sunlight broke through the white fog outside, shining on the glass, but when it passed through and landed on her, it carried no warmth.

Hua Suihe raised her hand to touch her forehead, feeling nothing but sweat.

She sat quietly, adjusting her breathing, and only after her heartbeat steadied did she stand up from her seat.
She took a step forward, her gait slightly unsteady, and walked toward the door of the bus. As she approached, the sensor-activated door slid open automatically.

Hua Suihe stepped off the bus.

In front of her stood a two-story building. The electronic sign above the door flashed with the four characters of Yu Sheng Troupe. The main entrance was wide open, but she couldn’t see what was inside.

Hua Suihe glanced up at the position of the sun. At this time, Ye Susheng should be at her post, issuing quests to players.

Thinking this, Hua Suihe walked straight toward the door of Yu Sheng Troupe. Even as she got closer, she still couldn’t make out the scene inside. She knew, just like in most games, entering a new scene required a brief blackout for loading.

Hua Suihe stepped through the door, and the scene before her instantly became clear. Directly opposite her, Ye Susheng stood at her post like a receptionist.

Seeing her familiar wife, Hua Suihe immediately ran over, exclaiming in delight, “Ye Zi!”

Su Sheng looked at her too, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes. Her lips pressed tightly together as she stared at Hua Suihe’s approaching figure.

As Hua Suihe drew near, she stretched out her long arms, bent down with her hips sticking out, and sprawled herself across the desk in front of Su Sheng, complaining in a familiar tone, “Ye Zi, why didn’t you wake me up just now? I had such a long, long nightmare. If you’d called me, I could’ve woken up sooner.”

Su Sheng tilted her head slightly, lowering her gaze to Hua Suihe’s relaxed posture. The tips of her brows lifted gently, her glassy red eyes emotionlessly fixed on the top of Hua Suihe’s head, the corners of her lips curving upward just a bit.

“Player, Hua Suihe.” Su Sheng’s red lips parted, uttering a few words.

The strange form of address made Hua Suihe straighten up from the desk, her dark, shiny eyes staring at Su Sheng in confusion.

Being looked at like that by Hua Suihe, Su Sheng moved her lips, and for a moment, she actually forgot the line she’d said thousands of times before.

Hua Suihe crossed her arms over her chest, her back straight, a hint of righteous indignation in her posture. “What did you just call me?”

Hua Suihe-calling her by her full name, so distant!

Su Sheng’s gaze flickered, and she spoke again, “A new instance is about to begin-Free School. Game duration: one month.”

At this point, she got stuck, simply staring at Hua Suihe in silence.

Hua Suihe waited for a long time with no follow-up, a big question mark in her mind. “And then?”

Su Sheng pursed her lips, looking utterly aggrieved. “Next, my job will be as the dormitory supervisor at the school, so I hope Hua Hua can bring me a loving lunchbox every day…”

“Of course, I’m not asking Hua Hua to cook for me. I can make the food myself, and Hua Hua can just put it in the lunchbox and bring it to me.” She twisted her fingers together, head lowered, sneaking glances at Hua Suihe, looking pitiful.

“Oh, I thought it was something serious.” Hua Suihe pouted, waving her hand dismissively. “It’s a small thing. But this time the script lasts so long-are we using a real school?”

Su Sheng nodded. “Mm, the troupe applied to the school. As long as our activities don’t interfere with normal teaching, it’s fine.”

“But don’t worry, Hua Hua. I’m still the same as before-I get off work at eight every morning.”

It’s always the night shift. Good thing Su Sheng is a data wife, otherwise her body would be exhausted.

At the same time, a quest prompt from the game system sounded in Hua Suihe’s mind.

[Instance ‘Free School’ is about to begin. Player Hua Suihe, game level 2. Leveling up will unlock some gift reward functions. Game quest… Game quest: Provide a loving lunchbox to dorm supervisor Su Sheng every day. Please complete the quest actively.]
