Novel Info

Ye Susheng was a very clingy person, so since she didn’t need sleep or rest, after finishing her night shift and returning home, she spent her days circling around Hua Suihe.

After a few days together, Ye Susheng noticed that Hua Suihe’s living habits were different from her own, so she joined her in making tables and chairs, building a bathroom, and even digging a vegetable garden.

The two of them brought home vegetables picked from the garden, along with some meat that Ye Susheng had somehow bought from who knows where, and began preparing dinner.

Every time Hua Suihe finished eating, it was time for Ye Susheng to go to work.

Looking up at the sky, she realized that dusk had arrived without her noticing-it always felt like daytime passed so quickly.

At six in the evening, the two of them cleaned up the dishes together. Ye Susheng asked, “Hua Hua, you said you’d see me off to work-does that still count?”

It was time for Ye Susheng to go to work.

Hua Suihe put away the washed bowls, skillfully helping her dry her hands. “Of course, but where’s the car?”

A blush appeared on Ye Susheng’s cheeks. After Hua Suihe let go, she pointed to the roadside not far ahead. “I usually wait for the bus there, but I need to go back and change into my work uniform first. Hua Hua, wait for me.”

Where she pointed, a bus stop sign had truly appeared out of thin air.

Seeing Hua Suihe nod, Ye Susheng jogged back to the wooden cabin.

Hua Suihe’s gaze returned to the bus stop sign, and in the blink of an eye, a white bus had pulled up there.

Ye Susheng went inside and quickly changed into her work uniform for the day-a doctor’s white coat.

As she walked closer, Hua Suihe saw the badge she wore: “Pet Veterinarian Su Sheng?”

Hearing Hua Suihe read it aloud, Ye Susheng looked a little shy. “That’s my job today-I’m playing the role of a veterinarian at the pet hospital.”

A layer of confusion appeared in Hua Suihe’s eyes. How come she’d never triggered this kind of scenario when she played?

“Let’s go, the bus is here.” Ye Susheng took Hua Suihe’s hand and led her to the roadside. One after the other, they boarded the bus. Ye Susheng swiped her card twice and took Hua Suihe to sit at the back.

The driver’s gaze followed them, his neck turning a full one hundred and eighty degrees, his eyes landing on Hua Suihe. Suddenly, he grinned. “New passenger?”

After sitting down, Hua Suihe was surprised to hear the driver’s rough, hoarse voice. She looked up in his direction, but all she saw was his well-behaved back, accompanied by a few crisp cracking sounds.

Ye Susheng seemed very familiar with the driver and introduced Hua Suihe with a smile in her voice. “She’s my girlfriend.”

Hua Suihe responded politely, “Hello, uncle.”

The driver glanced at them in the rearview mirror, his hand trembling as he silently started the bus and drove into the fog along the road.

Not hearing the driver speak again, Hua Suihe sighed in disappointment. Why were the NPCs in the game so quiet, too?

At that moment, the driver just wanted to deliver this ancestor to her destination as quickly as possible.

Ye Susheng had dislocated all his bones with one hand, and it had taken him a month to piece together his three thousand shattered bones. Now, just like that, a month’s work had gone to waste.

Hua Suihe gazed out the window. The white fog obscured all vision, but before long, her view cleared.

What appeared before her eyes were familiar high-rise buildings, modern architecture brightly lit. If it weren’t for the empty streets, she’d have thought she’d returned to the real world.

[Welcome to Yu Sheng. Players, please actively complete tasks to earn points.]

A familiar, cold system voice sounded in her mind out of nowhere.

After ten days here, it was her first time entering the city, and she finally heard the game system’s prompt.

“Hua Hua? What’s wrong?” Ye Susheng gently shook her arm, her eyes full of concern as she looked at the dazed Hua Suihe.

Hua Suihe snapped back to herself, and the system’s voice sounded in her mind again:

[Daily task refreshed. As the player did not speak to NPC Su Sheng within the allotted time to accept the task, you will be automatically assigned to this large-scale scenario as a pet hospital client.]
Hua Suihe subconsciously glanced at the badge on Ye Susheng’s chest. Ye was the doctor, and she was the client.

Hua Suihe said, “Wife, I’m going to keep you company at work tonight.”

At these words, Ye Susheng’s expression turned cold for an instant. She quickly avoided Hua Suihe’s gaze, not wanting her to notice anything, and gently reassured her, “Hua Hua, don’t be afraid. It’s just a simple bit of role-play.”

“I know, I’m not afraid. It’s just a game.” Hua Suihe really was relaxed, even a little excited to be personally involved in the script.

After all, it was just a game-they’d be up all night, and then go home with Ye Susheng to sleep in the morning.

What really made her curious was, since she was a client bringing her pet to the hospital, where was her pet? Was she supposed to mime it? The game system hadn’t provided any extra hints, only assigned her an identity badge.

The driver glanced back at them once more in the rearview mirror. Seeing the blood-red gleam in Ye Susheng’s eyes, he quickly stepped on the accelerator, eager to get them to their destination as soon as possible.

Tonight was sure to be a chaotic bloodbath, and with this lady’s girlfriend joining in, things were bound to get interesting.

But it had nothing to do with him. He planned to go home and mind his own business; he wouldn’t be taking part in this event.

The bus stopped in front of Yusheng Pet Hospital.

As soon as the two got off, the driver immediately drove away.

The pet hospital ahead was as large as a major general hospital. The iron gate stood three meters high, with only a small side door near the security booth left open. The security guard stood at the entrance, backlit, so that only the outline of his uniform was visible.

Night had completely fallen. Light from the security room filtered dimly through the glass; even up close, it was hard to make out the guard’s face.

Hua Suihe instinctively tightened her grip on Ye Susheng’s hand.

Suddenly, the previously pitch-black main building of the hospital lit up, dispersing much of the darkness.

Hua Suihe couldn’t help but marvel, “Such immersive gameplay-even the pet hospital is real.”

“This is the only pet hospital in the city,” Ye Susheng explained. “So a lot of people come here-some are role-playing players, some are real doctors and clients.”

After explaining, Ye Susheng leaned close to Hua Suihe’s ear and whispered, “Once we’re inside, we have to switch identities. Remember to follow the role-play rules, Hua Hua.”

Hua Suihe understood-no breaking character. She nodded at once.

Ye Susheng led her through the gate and stopped in front of the security guard, whose face remained indistinct. “My girlfriend’s dog is sick. I’m the dog’s attending physician, but the dog’s condition hasn’t improved. Hua Hua is really worried, so I brought her here for a checkup.”

Hua Suihe’s eyes trembled. Dog? Where was her dog? Where was it?

Ye Susheng didn’t wait for the guard to say anything, leading Hua Suihe straight toward the hospital’s main building.

Hua Suihe looked back at the guard. He was still standing in the shadows, his face unreadable, but she saw him lift a hand to wipe away tears.

Hua Suihe leaned close to Ye Susheng’s ear and whispered, “The security guard at the pet hospital is really caring. He was so sad about my dog’s illness that he’s crying.”

Ye Susheng paused slightly, said nothing, and continued walking-though the security guard behind them seemed to shrink back a little.

How dare he! Drooling over Hua Hua right in front of her!

With no script from the system, Hua Suihe had no idea what to do next, so she just followed Ye Susheng’s lead.

Ye Susheng in work mode was totally different from her usual clingy self. Normally, she’d call Hua Hua “wife” hundreds of times, but now she was cold and reserved.

A wife so professional at work really is charming, Hua Suihe thought with a secret grin.

After they entered the hospital building, the security guard-still reeling from before-quickly posted in the work group chat:

Ye Susheng’s girlfriend has arrived. Don’t scare her, and don’t hurt her.

He attached a blurry screenshot from the security camera, faces indistinct.

The news that Ye Susheng had brought her human girlfriend to work spread through the hospital in an instant.
