Chapter 41

“Hua Hua…” Ye Susheng hummed and murmured, eyes misted over, gaze unfocused, her cheeks flushed like peach blossoms.

Hua Suihe’s teeth really couldn’t break her skin, but that didn’t stop an indescribable tingling from shooting up Ye Susheng’s spine and spreading through her limbs.

“Hua Hua, Hua Hua…”

Relying on her abundant theoretical knowledge, Hua Suihe took care of her thoroughly from left to right. Just as she was about to slowly savor what kind of ripe-fruit sweetness this was, she was abruptly pushed over.

Ye Susheng imitated her movements, shoving aside the fabric in the way. The way she bent over and buried her head there was impatient to the point of desperation.

“Hiss-” Hua Suihe winced and reached out to push her, but couldn’t move her at all. “Ye Susheng!”

It was like Ye Susheng had discovered a new continent, the best possible way to ease this ravenous hunger. Hua Hua’s taste flooded every inch of her senses, ten thousand times better than beef jerky.

A faint metallic tang spread in her mouth. Ye Susheng snapped back to herself and hurriedly kissed the wound in guilt. “I’m sorry, Hua Hua, I didn’t mean to…”

Hua Suihe was about to be driven insane by her. She just knew this girl would latch onto one spot and gnaw like crazy. She kicked her in the calf with pent-up grievance. “Get off. Sleep.”

After one fierce scolding from Hua Suihe, Ye Susheng instantly turned flustered, desire and helpless confusion tangled in her red eyes.

Hua Suihe stared at her in silence for a while, then calmly pulled her hem back down, reached out to tug the blanket over herself, and turned her back to lie facing away from her.

Ye Susheng sat on the bed and gave the blanket a tentative little tug. Hua Suihe still ignored her.

She was done for. She’d bitten Hua Hua and hurt her. Hua Hua was mad at her.

Clutching the blanket, Ye Susheng tried to win her partner’s sympathy. “Hua Hua, my body feels really weird.”

Hua Suihe opened her eyes and glanced over at her-only to be greeted by an eyeful of spring scenery.

She reached out and turned off the light. “There’s nothing weird about it. Go to sleep.”

Now was absolutely not the right time to keep going. Ye Susheng really treated her like a dish to be served up and gnawed on, with not a shred of understanding about how to actually flirt.

Ye Susheng could only obediently lie down, staring up at the ceiling. The black mist restlessly seeped out, skillfully wrapping around and exploring upward from Hua Hua’s ankle.

It bumped into something; the main body’s eyes flared red. It sneakily slipped into Hua Suihe’s blanket and wrapped an arm around her waist from behind.

Hua Suihe grabbed her hand. “Don’t move around when you’re sleeping.”

Ye Susheng denied it without batting an eye. “I didn’t.”

The black mist had eaten its fill, sweet and satisfying. If only Hua Hua would let her eat again next time.

Ye Susheng licked her lips, buried her face in Hua Suihe’s hair, and fell asleep breathing in her scent.

On the last day of their break, Hua Suihe had planned to buy a comic so Ye Susheng could broaden her theoretical base a little. As luck would have it, her period came.

She woke up early with an aching back and sore waist. After a trip to the bathroom, she saw that the auntie who hadn’t visited in over a month had suddenly shown up.

She’d been in the game world for more than a month, and this was the first time her period had come. It had been absent for so many days she thought it was gone for good-turned out it was just a little late.

While Ye Susheng was cooking breakfast, Hua Suihe came out of the bathroom. Ye Susheng’s nose was sharp; she immediately caught the scent of blood on Hua Suihe.

Having never had a period before, Ye Susheng had no idea this was a normal bodily function. She rushed over to Hua Suihe, hands already reaching to lift her clothes and check.

Tears of guilt spilled out of her eyes without warning. “Hua Hua, where are you hurt? Is it the bite from yesterday that still isn’t healing? Is it bleeding again…”

Hua Suihe quickly pressed her hands down. “No. It’s my period. It’s a normal physiological phenomenon.”

“What’s a period?” From the moment she was created, Ye Susheng had been an Anomaly. Her body structure might be the same as Hua Suihe’s, but ultimately she wasn’t human.
Hua Suihe gave Ye Susheng a simple explanation that periods were a normal physiological phenomenon.

Seeing Hua Suihe sitting there pale and weak, like a wilted cabbage, Ye Susheng’s heart ached. “So Hua Hua just has to hurt like this? Is there any way to make it better?”

Hua Suihe took small sips of the warm porridge. “I can take some painkillers.”

“I’ll go buy some for Hua Hua.” As soon as the words left her mouth, Ye Susheng vanished from where she stood.

She can use Flash even on rest days? And she usually puts up with taking public transportation with me…

Hua Suihe blankly spooned porridge into her mouth, thoughts drifting off. If she were a native NPC in the game world too, maybe she wouldn’t have to deal with menstrual cramps.

Ye Susheng came back with painkillers and had Hua Suihe take them with warm water.

Hua Suihe’s cramps were so bad that even after swallowing the medicine, her head felt muzzy and heavy. All she wanted was to go back and lie down and sleep.

Ye Susheng stayed at her side all day, attentive to every little thing.

Hua Hua had said her period would last five to seven days.

But she had to go to Rose Manor for work tomorrow. She wouldn’t be able to stay home to look after Hua Hua, and Hua Hua had to go to Rose Manor to do the dungeon mission too. This mission had to be cleared.

On top of that, they would have to stay inside the Manor for three full days and couldn’t return to the cabin.

Leaning over the edge of the bed, Ye Susheng held Hua Suihe’s hand, kissed the back of it, then pressed it gently against her own cheek.

The next morning, Ye Susheng was forcibly teleported to Rose Manor. At that time, Hua Suihe was still asleep.

[Dungeon “Rose Manor” has opened. Player count: 50. Survival time: four days. Please complete any one of the following missions. Failure to complete a mission will be considered a failed dungeon clear.]

[First: Expose the secret of the Master of Rose Manor. This is the main storyline mission. Completing it will grant the highest bonus point reward.]

[Second: Speak with butler Su Sheng and obtain relevant clues about the dungeon.]

[Third: Within four days, find the true young master of Rose Manor and prepare a gift that satisfies him.]

[Fourth: The Manor will host a banquet for four days. Among the invited guests are both players and NPCs. Please distinguish them carefully. Before midnight on the fourth night, submit a complete list of all NPCs to the System. Pay attention to how you observe them, and do not incur their wrath.]

[Fifth: The System will assign each of you an identity for attending the banquet. All players must play their roles well. Do not use words like “player” in conversation. Please abide by the rules of an immersive murder-mystery scenario.]

As always, after receiving the dungeon mission from Ye Susheng, everyone lived peacefully in Rose Manor for three days.

However, during those three days, everyone was confined to their own rooms and could not wander freely around the Manor, in order to prevent players from exchanging information ahead of time.

There were fifty players and thirty NPCs. Over the three nights of banquets, there would be eighty guests in total. Everyone had to wear a name brooch pinned to their chest to help people remember names and match them to faces.

All relevant background information for each role would be sent directly to that person. Players had those three pre-dungeon days to familiarize themselves with their character cards.

[The dungeon has officially begun. We wish all players a successful clear.]

The System’s notification jolted Hua Suihe out of her sleep.

She blinked drowsily and looked at the clock on the wall. It was exactly eight in the morning. Ye Susheng was already gone.
