Chapter 43

“Huh?” The strap on Hua Suihe’s mask suddenly snapped. “This mask is such terrible quality.”

“Hua Hua.”

Hua Suihe rolled the mask up and stuffed it into her pocket. When she looked back at Ye Susheng, she found those ruby-red eyes fixed on her face.

“You…”

“Hua Hua looks so pretty today.” Ye Susheng leaned in and kissed her cheek, then kept kissing in tiny, lingering pecks, lightly nibbling the tip of her nose and the corner of her lips. “Hua Hua smells so good~”

Hua Suihe turned her head to dodge her. “We’re in the car. Don’t mess around. I didn’t even put on makeup today.”

“Hua Hua is pretty even without makeup.” Unable to keep kissing, Ye Susheng still wanted to cling to her and rub against her-like a cat addicted to mint-her half-lidded eyes glossy and dazed.

“Miss Hua, Butler Su Sheng, we’ve arrived.” The driver parked steadily, got out, and opened the rear door for them.

The two of them got out together and headed into the building.

[Congratulations to the player for receiving a tip-Peerless Beauty. The bonus has been applied.]

[Congratulations to the player for receiving a tip-Get Rich Overnight. Current detection: Rose Manor dungeon. Drawing a reasonable identity for the player-Mr. Zhuang’s younger sister, the Manor owner’s sibling, with 50% inheritance rights to the Manor’s assets.]

“Huh?” Hua Suihe frowned, confused, and muttered unhappily, “They’re assigning me an identity again.”

Inheritance rights sounded nice, but wasn’t it still just a script arranged by the Yu Sheng Troupe? Once the dungeon ended in four days, it would all be nothing. And she still had to act like some rich young lady.

Ye Susheng tightened her grip on Hua Suihe’s hand. She stopped on the stairs, lowered her gaze to Hua Suihe one step below, and asked, “What identity?”

“The Manor’s lady of the house.”

Ye Susheng blurted out in disbelief, “Mr. Zhuang’s wife?!”

“No, no.” Hua Suihe tapped her own head and hurriedly added, “His sister. Second Miss. Half the Manor is his, half is mine.”

That still counted as lady of the house… kind of.

The rise and fall of Ye Susheng’s chest eased a little. If Hua Hua had been given the wife role, she would’ve gone and killed that ugly bastard with the surname Zhuang on the spot. Nothing-scripted identity or not-gave him the right to share a wife with her!

Damn that Horror System. She had clearly arranged an easy task for Hua Hua in advance-what method did it use to slap an identity onto her anyway?!

Hua Suihe had seen the livestream viewers’ tips. Her Streamer Level was now 3, unlocking some pricier gift effects, and she’d realized the tips in the livestream were being “packaged” onto her in the form of System-issued rewards.

It was basically one way of cashing out.

“Wife, what’s the Rose Manor script supposed to be? I don’t really get it.” Hua Suihe finished reading the identity info the System had sent her.

It said that on the surface, Mr. Zhuang and she were harmonious, but in secret he wanted her dead so he could swallow the property for himself. Privately, the two sides were evenly matched, each pulling people into their own faction.

It even came with a list of her own supporters. That was all she knew.

Ye Susheng thought seriously for a moment. “The key to Rose Manor is killing Mr. Zhuang. Hua Hua, I’ll just help you kill him.”

Hua Suihe: …

“Let’s take a look first. Feels like it’s testing my brain a bit.” Deciding to give up on thinking, Hua Suihe walked into the grand hall with Ye Susheng.

Quite a few people were already inside, chatting and networking. Everyone was probing each other, smiles hiding sharpened edges.

Ye Susheng led Hua Suihe in by the hand. The atmosphere in the room stalled for a brief moment, and assessing gazes landed on Hua Suihe-plainly dressed.

“So that’s the Second Miss. Naturally gorgeous.”

“The Second Miss is dressing this low-key on purpose for the banquet. Not giving President Zhuang any face at all.”

“You can’t put it like that. The Second Miss is just coming home. What she wears is her own freedom.”
“Sister Hua’s beauty is the glory of the Manor.”

The chatter wouldn’t stop. Hua Suihe kept her teeth clenched behind a smile, eyes fixed straight ahead.

She had just checked the livestream chat. Gu Gu had been spamming the Peerless Beauty gift for her. Once she had a chance to get out, she was definitely going to settle that score.

The moment Yi Shuang saw Hua Suihe walk in, she immediately had a good idea of how this round would go.

“Shuang-jie, isn’t that Peanut?” someone sidled up to her ear and whispered.

Ever since Fang Ge had recognized Yi Shuang, she’d been clinging to her thigh like an old pro. Seeing the Identity Card mark Yi Shuang as an ally only made Fang Ge more determined to stick with her.

Right now, Yi Shuang sat at the top of the overall player rankings, with a 95% clear rate. Her livestream POV was one of the hottest on the platform.

Fang Ge hadn’t been drawn into the last dungeon. She hadn’t expected to run into Hua Suihe again this run.

Hua Suihe’s existence was bizarre. Call her a player-yet she was the only one in the entire network with no livestream. Say she wasn’t-yet she appeared on the rookie rankings.

Now she’d drawn the Identity Card of the Manor’s Second Young Miss, and on top of that, she was having a romance with butler Su Sheng.

“With her here, it’ll be easier for us to move,” Yi Shuang said.

Hua Suihe found a sofa in a quieter corner and sat down. A dull ache tugged at her lower belly, leaving her looking pale and listless as she leaned back to rest.

Ye Susheng came over with a plate of desserts. “Hua Hua, want a little cake?”

“Yeah.” Hua Suihe tipped her head back and opened her mouth, waiting to be fed.

Ye Susheng fed her a few bite-sized cakes, then held a cup to her lips so she could drink. Her care was meticulous.

“Why is Ye Susheng so attentive to this Second Young Miss?” Xinrou still hadn’t given up on digging information out of Ye Susheng. Seeing this scene, she could hardly believe her eyes.

“Who’s that girl?” she asked the man beside her, Water Cube.

The instant Water Cube saw Hua Suihe, eight hundred thoughts flashed through his head.

As a rookie, Hua Suihe had survived two dungeons in a row. She’d even broken the rules and still hadn’t died. So it turned out she’d gotten in with Ye Susheng and earned herself a get-out-of-death-free card.

Thinking back, he realized he’d never offended Hua Suihe. If he could get on her good side, wouldn’t that be like hanging that get-out-of-death-free card around his own neck?

Xinrou got no answer. She jabbed him with her elbow. “I’m talking to you. Who is that girl?”

“She’s the Second Young Miss. Second Young Miss Hua of the Zhuang Family, from an outside branch.”

They were not allowed to directly use the words “player” or “NPC” in conversation, so Water Cube kept that to himself and didn’t explain any further.

Xinrou had never seen Hua Suihe before. Watching how close she was to Ye Susheng, she guessed the other woman must be an NPC from the dungeon.

Once she sorted that out in her mind, Xinrou headed toward them. This time, Water Cube didn’t stop her, only watched from a distance.

He was someone who had already died once. Now, whenever he saw Ye Susheng, he hallucinated the scene of himself being chewed to pieces by mirrors. He no longer had any points to buy a revival card. He had to treasure his life more than ever.

“Miss Hua.” Xinrou walked up and tried to strike up a conversation with Hua Suihe.

Up close, she realized Hua Suihe’s beauty wasn’t just empty praise. Her skin was like congealed cream, her features dazzling, those black eyes holding the light of a starry river. The pallor of her bloodless face only added a fragile, pitiable air. Meeting her gaze made Xinrou’s heart tremble.

Hua Suihe didn’t recognize her, so she straightened up but didn’t stand. “Were you looking for me?”

“Ah… ah.” Xinrou snapped out of it, a little embarrassed. “Are you feeling unwell? Sorry to disturb you.”

“It’s fine. What did you need from me?”

“Hua Hua.” Ye Susheng came back with a hot-water bottle and tucked it into Hua Suihe’s arms to warm her stomach.

Ye Susheng straightened, meeting the stranger with a cold gaze. “Do you need something?”
