Chapter 64

Hua Suihe had just lifted her leg to walk toward her door not far away when a sudden gust of wind rushed at her from behind.

[Ahhh help help help help help!!]

Hua Suihe sensed something and shifted her position to the side. As a result, someone tumbled down right next to her on her left.

“Eh?” Hua Suihe was startled. The person who had fallen to the ground was a young man. He must have accidentally tripped; he looked like he was in a lot of pain, rolling on the ground and wailing.

Hua Suihe wanted to help him up but didn’t know where to start.

“Hua Hua.”

Hua Suihe looked up and saw Ye Susheng coming out of their house. She walked toward her, completely ignoring the man on the ground.

Ye Susheng took her hand. “Hua Hua, I’ve already bought the groceries. Why did you come out?”

“I came out to find you,” Hua Suihe replied. She then looked down at the man on the ground. He seemed to have recovered a bit; he was no longer wailing or rolling around. Instead, he lay prone on the ground with his back to them, likely too embarrassed to show his face after such a fall.

Since he had fallen right next to her, Hua Suihe considered whether she should help him up. She tentatively asked, “Are you okay?”

“Hua Hua,” Ye Susheng tugged at her hand. “Let’s just leave him. He might be a scammer.”

Hua Suihe thought about it and realized that made sense. The man had fallen right next to her, after all. If she helped him up only to be falsely accused, it would be a huge hassle.

“Um, if you’re okay, please get up yourself. We’re going home now.”

After Hua Suihe finished speaking, Ye Susheng pulled her back into the house.

After entering the door, Hua Suihe still looked back uneasily. The young man who had just fallen had already stood up and was walking toward the other end of the alley with his back to her.

Hua Suihe breathed a sigh of relief. He really was fine. He probably just stayed still earlier because he was too embarrassed to face anyone.

She put the incident out of her mind and followed Ye Susheng into the kitchen, where they began preparing simple greens and lean meat.

The phone’s livestream was still on. At this moment, the camera was pointed at Ye Susheng as she handled the ingredients, and the viewers in the chat suddenly became active.

[It’s hard not to suspect the origin of that lean meat…]

[Just jumped over from Li Wen’s perspective. Li Wen didn’t find a ghost marriage partner but ran into Ye Susheng instead. His stream shutting down proves he’s a goner.]

[I came from his side too. He was just about to knock Peanut out and drag her back, but then he got ended by Ye Susheng.]

[He was twitching for ages before he died. Not a single drop of blood was spilled. Peanut is such a total airhead, actually asking him ‘Are you okay?’]

[Several perspectives have gone dark already. Peanut, you need to keep your woman in check. We can’t afford to lose any more players; it’s only the first day.]

No matter how many requests appeared in the bullet chat, Hua Suihe didn’t look at her phone at all.

Ye Susheng finished stir-frying two dishes, and the porridge Hua Suihe had cooked was also ready to eat. The two of them sat down to eat together. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, not at all like living in a Thriller dungeon.

“Hua Hua, I have to go out during the day tomorrow. I’m not sure if I’ll be back in time for lunch. If you get hungry, just call me, and I’ll come back to cook for you.”

“Mm-hmm.” Hua Suihe was very understanding of her work. “It’s fine. I can cook for myself. Just focus on your business.”

[She’s a Living Yama… Please tie her up, okay? I beg you, don’t let Ye Susheng out.]

[My Streamer Bae is looking for a ghost marriage partner. Should I egg him on to steal Peanut while Ye Susheng is away?]

[If Ye Susheng sees him, you’re guaranteed to be hunted down, brother.]

“Hua Hua, is this the livestream you’ve been working on?” Ye Susheng picked up Hua Suihe’s phone. Her entire face pressed close to the camera, and a pair of Anomaly blood-red eyes appeared on everyone’s phone screens.
Suddenly, it was as if a global mute had been activated; not a single soul was typing in the bullet chat.

Only after she said that did Hua Suihe remember. “Yeah! There were tons of people watching on day one-everyone who knows you. Ye Zi, you’re basically a super top-tier celebrity!”

Ye Susheng stared into the pitch-black camera lens, smiling on her own. Her tone was friendly and a little shy. “I’m really happy to meet everyone. I hope you’ll come play games at the Yu Sheng Troupe. Our troupe is always developing new scripts-everyone’s very welcome~”

Since entering the game, Hua Suihe had joined a few dungeons, but none of them had many players. With Great City’s population of five hundred million, getting only a few dozen or a few hundred players in a run meant the Yu Sheng Troupe was extremely niche.

So Ye Susheng having that much popularity genuinely surprised Hua Suihe.

It just went to show how hard Ye Susheng worked-an exemplary employee of the Yu Sheng Troupe, memorable enough that so many people still remembered her.

Feeling pleased, Hua Suihe ruffled Ye Susheng’s hair. She also echoed Ye Susheng, wanting to help her pull in some numbers. “Everyone’s welcome to come play. The quality of every script is guaranteed.”

Then she leaned close to Ye Susheng’s ear and whispered, “Ye Zi, if more players come, does it count toward your performance metrics and raise your salary?”

Ye Susheng hesitated. “I don’t think it does.”

“Ugh…” Hua Suihe cursed that black-hearted boss again and immediately took it back. “Then everyone should come less. Don’t increase my wife’s workload.”

She refused to let her wife get run ragged, only for her pay to not go up by even a cent.

[That’s our girl. Thank you, kind-hearted savior.]

[Is it possible Peanut doesn’t get it? The Yu Sheng Troupe has branches. It’s just Ye Susheng’s channel that’s the hottest because the dungeons average SSS difficulty.]

[More or fewer players doesn’t affect the death rate. Thanks though.]

[I just want to know how a normal person manages to date an Anomaly. Tutorial, please.]

[Still daring to send bullet chats? Aren’t you scared Ye Susheng will see?]

Anyway, Hua Suihe didn’t see any of it.

“Turning it off, turning it off. Bye, everyone.” Hua Suihe took the phone back from Ye Susheng and, without hesitation, tapped the end-stream button.

She and those viewers were simply on different frequencies-everyone felt busy with their own thing. What she said wasn’t what they cared about, and what they said was stuff Hua Suihe couldn’t even understand.

The fans from her own livestream angle understood her, though. After hearing Hua Suihe’s reply, they’d cried and made a scene; now that they realized she really was hard as stone, the bullet chat finally went back to normal.

“Then I’m going to get busy, Hua Hua. There are lots of unfamiliar people in the village who aren’t players. Try not to engage with them, Hua Hua. They especially love scamming people.”

Hua Suihe thought of the man who’d fallen at the doorway earlier and nodded with deep agreement. One moment of carelessness and you’d get shaken down-she’d definitely be careful.

She gathered Ye Susheng’s hair together and, with a small elastic, helped tie up the loose strands. Then she clipped the bunny hairpin from her own head into Ye Susheng’s hair.

Ye Susheng’s hair was very long; tying it with a hair tie was a pain. A hairpin would’ve been much more convenient.

After finishing Ye Susheng’s hair, Hua Suihe finally rose onto her toes and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. “I’m not that into going out and playing anyway. When you’re not so busy, Ye Zi, take me around to see the place.”

That kiss instantly had Ye Susheng clinging again. The two of them hugged and kissed until their faces were flushed and their ears were red before they were willing to let go.

Hua Suihe watched Ye Susheng step out and close the door behind her. The courtyard felt empty all at once. After Ye Susheng left, a flock of crows flew back to the dead branches of the withered tree in the yard.

They didn’t caw, just quietly pecked at their own feathers.

Seeing them in the daytime, they were almost kind of cute-she’d just treat them as company.
