Marry the NPC with Money, Wife Comes Knocking - Chapter 77
Chapter 77
Hua Suihe hooked her finger through hers and swayed them back and forth, chuckling softly. “Why the sudden urge to move? Are you not satisfied with our little wooden cabin anymore?”
“I want Hua Hua to live somewhere better.” Ye Susheng didn’t explain further. Living over here, she couldn’t take Hua Hua out shopping anymore. Once the Anomalies in this region became active again, it wouldn’t matter if it was a milk tea shop or a restaurant-humans wouldn’t be able to eat any of the food.
She didn’t want Hua Hua to go shopping in the future and find she couldn’t eat anything at all.
“No need to rush. Let’s save up a little more before we talk about moving,” Hua Suihe said, worried Ye Susheng was putting too much pressure on herself. Besides, even though their little wooden cabin was remote and the facilities were terrible, they’d already lived there for days. There was no need to be in such a hurry.
“It’s urgent. Really urgent.” On this, Ye Susheng was unusually stubborn. “We’ll take the high-speed rail to Zone B to look at places. Today.”
Hua Suihe tilted her head and met those red eyes. After a moment of silent staring, she laughed and nodded. “Sure. Let’s go. Today it is.”
If she wanted to look, then they’d look. Whether they could buy a place in one go was another matter.
Ye Susheng was brimming with excitement, and Hua Suihe wasn’t about to dampen it.
They took the subway to the high-speed rail station, bought tickets on their phones, and entered. The station was packed with people, and the waiting area was full, but everyone they passed couldn’t help letting their gaze linger on them.
It was Hua Suihe’s first time seeing a high-speed rail station like this. One glance showed a sea of people-yet it was as if someone had hit the mute button. Not a single person spoke. There were only footsteps and the broadcast announcements.
They finally found seats in the waiting hall. Every so often, someone would glance their way again.
Hua Suihe’s puzzled gaze swept over. Those people immediately acted like they hadn’t been looking and turned their eyes elsewhere, as if avoiding trouble.
Hua Suihe touched her cheek and muttered, “Are we just too good-looking? They don’t think we’re celebrities, do they?”
Ye Susheng nodded in agreement as she used her black mist to suppress the entire place. “Hua Hua is way too pretty. Like a movie star.”
None of these were human. There were no living people left in Area A.
Area A had been completely contaminated by Thriller. That meant the parts of Area A that had been polluted early on had now fully linked up. The Anomalies’ activity range had expanded, and since the Zone B high-speed rail station was also within a Polluted Zone, those Anomalies that could move around were using the high-speed rail to head to Zone B.
Hua Hua’s scent was far too rich. Those ugly freaks were practically drooling over her.
The thought made Ye Susheng even more unwilling to keep living in Area A. Otherwise, for Hua Hua’s safety, she’d end up butchering the Anomaly area into a true no-man’s land.
Hua Suihe pinched Ye Susheng’s chin and studied her face. “Our Ye Zi doesn’t just look like a star. You are a star.”
As someone who often appeared as staff from the players’ perspective, Ye Susheng’s notoriety really wasn’t any less than so-called top celebrities.
Then again, they’d never bought a TV, and Hua Suihe hadn’t watched any television. Even on her phone, she mostly just researched filming videos and doing livestreams. She hadn’t gotten into dramas yet, so it made sense she didn’t recognize any of the game world’s celebrity entertainers.
On the train, Hua Suihe looked up well-known high-quality residential developments in Zone B in advance and bookmarked several neighborhoods. The moment they stepped out of the high-speed rail station, she dragged Ye Susheng straight toward their first destination.
This area was lively-both the commercial districts and the residential districts were full of people. Carrying two cups of milk tea, they arrived at the sales office of a complex called Haixing.
It was a newly opened development. They claimed there were discounts for buyers, but the price per unit was still absurdly high.
The sales staff were enthusiastic. The instant they walked in, someone came over with a bright smile.
The female agent’s eyes landed on Hua Suihe. “Hello, miss. Here to look at apartments? What kind of layout are you interested in?”
The saleswoman acted as if Ye Susheng didn’t exist, enthusiastically answering Hua Suihe’s questions the entire time.
Noticing that the lady spoke to thin air from time to time, the saleswoman’s gaze turned intriguing for a moment. She gave a knowing smile. “Beautiful lady, I know exactly what kind of layout you need most.”
“We also have move-in-ready units available. You can move in immediately with just your bags. There are various themed rooms to choose from.”
Ye Susheng wanted a move-in-ready house, so she nudged Hua Suihe to look at the photos of the finished units.
The prices were clearly listed; a two-bedroom apartment cost no less than a hundred million.
Hua Suihe stared at the prices in the brochure and fell silent. Her eyelid twitched, and the words to give up were on the tip of her tongue.
“Hua Hua, this one looks so pretty! Can we go see it?” Ye Susheng pointed at a pink-and-white princess-style house in the brochure, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Hua Suihe.
Hua Suihe followed her finger to the image and instinctively reached out to flip to the detailed photos.
The master bedroom was very spacious. It had no balcony but featured a floor-to-ceiling window. In front of the window sat a pink cage wrapped in golden filigree. Inside the cage was a hanging swing chair that could seat two people.
Such a large cage didn’t even look out of place there.
This design looked a bit familiar…
Hua Suihe flipped to other designs. Sure enough, her memory hadn’t failed her; this cage was either in the room or on the balcony. Every single house had one.
“Is this… is this cage some kind of special trademark?”
“Oh, that? It’s not a special design, just a convenience for keeping pets.” The saleswoman gave a knowing wink and suggested, “It’s not far from here. Shall I take you to see it first?”
It was no secret in high society that people kept Anomalies; it was an unspoken understanding. These cages could lock up an Anomaly, preventing it from killing its owner while they slept. Thus, such cages were an indispensable tool.
Since Hua Suihe was talking to thin air, she must have brought an Anomaly back from a Polluted Zone.
Hua Suihe was unaware of this. She simply handed the brochure back and pointed at the photo of the pink-toned finished house. “Let’s go. Let’s take a look at this one.”
The saleswoman specifically brought formaldehyde testing equipment to prove to the client that their building materials were up to standard.
If the client showed interest in buying, they could also arrange for professionals to inspect the quality of the renovation and furniture.
Hua Suihe fell in love with the house the moment she saw it in person. She couldn’t find a single flaw. The swing chair was covered with a soft blanket, making it so comfortable she didn’t want to get up.
The experienced saleswoman could tell at a glance that the client was eager to buy. She skillfully chimed in, “What kind of incense do you prefer, ma’am? We can prepare it for you in advance. Or if there are any decorations you like, we have some free giveaways with every purchase.”
“All transaction prices for Haixing are public on our official website, and everything is guaranteed. The community’s security system is also top-notch. Haixing Real Estate operates across ten districts and is completely trustworthy.”
“Would you like to see the finished units upstairs or downstairs as well?”
Seeing that Hua Suihe liked it, Ye Susheng pulled her hand and wheedled, “Hua Hua, let’s just get this one, okay?”
Hua Suihe glanced at the saleswoman, who was following her every step, and gave a polite smile. “I’ll think about it.”
With that, she pulled Ye Susheng into a corner for a quiet discussion.
“The listed price is a hundred million. Do we have enough money?”
Ye Susheng stuffed a gold card into her hand. “I got paid again! This time the salary was eighty million. Combined, it’s enough.”
