Marry the NPC with Money, Wife Comes Knocking - Chapter 80
Chapter 80
In her heart, Hua Suihe was worried that if Ye Susheng saw a girl who looked similar to her, she might start getting ideas-like the kind you see in those stand-in melodrama novels.
Mostly because, in that sudden instant, Hua Suihe remembered she didn’t belong to this world. She didn’t know when she might vanish. And she understood perfectly well that every time she promised she’d stay with Ye Susheng forever, there was an unavoidable uncertainty behind it.
And now that she’d seen someone who resembled her, all those dog-blood stand-in plots rushed into her head, stirring up a bunch of bad thoughts.
Ye Susheng was sharp as hell. When she noticed Hua Suihe was distracted while kissing her, she got so impatient she bit down hard on the tip of Hua Suihe’s tongue as punishment.
They separated when Hua Suihe hissed in pain. Ye Susheng stared at her. “Hua Hua isn’t focusing. Who were you thinking about?”
“That girl just now?” Ye Susheng was the jealous type to begin with, and now she was downright overcome with jealousy. “If Hua Hua likes Hua Hua’s face that much, I can turn into Hua Hua’s face too.”
“Hey, what are you even saying?” Hua Suihe rubbed her cheeks. “I like the way Ye Zi’s wife looks the most. I like Ye Susheng the most!”
Ye Susheng wasn’t easy to coax. She kept pressing, refusing to let it go. “Then what if there’s someone who looks exactly like me-would Hua Hua have to like her too?”
“How could that happen? I only like you. The one I like is you.”
Only then did Ye Susheng feel satisfied. She pecked Hua Suihe’s lips again and again. “The one I like most is Hua Hua too. Not anyone else who happens to look like Hua Hua.”
“And there won’t be anyone exactly like Hua Hua. The scent on Hua Hua is one of a kind-so is my mark.”
“Alright, alright, I know.” Hua Suihe pushed at the person pinning her down. “Get up. Let me look at what we bought again.”
Ye Susheng was reluctant to let go and grabbed her for a few more kisses. She didn’t finally get up until Hua Hua shook her head and refused to be kissed anymore. Then she pulled Hua Hua up from the couch and helped smooth out her messy hair.
Ye Susheng didn’t think the girl in the elevator actually looked that much like Hua Hua, but there was something strange about her-an eerie aura that carried a Thriller vibe. Yet she wasn’t an Anomaly, just a normal human.
That kind of scent wasn’t something you could pick up just by keeping an Anomaly. It was clearly something she gave off herself.
Ye Susheng filed it away as some Thriller conspiracy. Fine, then-she’d just kill her in the dungeon.
The Yu Sheng Troupe took root in Zone B and reopened for business.
The next morning at eight sharp, Ye Susheng was refreshed right on time at her post and started work, handing out tasks to new players.
Hua Suihe, on the other hand, had been messed with by Ye Susheng until far too late last night. When she finally woke up, it was already past nine. She got up, washed up, and tidied herself.
Breakfast Ye Susheng had made for her was waiting in an insulated container, but Ye Susheng herself wasn’t home.
Hua Suihe ate while scrolling short videos. She laughed for ages before it finally clicked-Ye Susheng hadn’t gotten off work and come home because she was waiting at her post for the last player.
Which was Hua Suihe.
The moment she realized, Hua Suihe panicked. She chugged down the remaining half bowl of porridge, washed the dishes at top speed, wiped her hands, and didn’t even bother with makeup. She threw on a change of clothes, slipped into her shoes, and rushed out.
Ye Susheng had already sent the troupe’s location in their chat.
It was six kilometers away. Hua Suihe tried to hail a ride, but no one accepted her order. With no choice, she walked to the nearest subway station and got off at the closest stop.
But the turnstiles wouldn’t let her scan out. She had to find a staff member and go through the service gate-an annoying hassle.
The staff’s attitude wasn’t great either. Only after a lot of pleading did they finally let her out, and they even said she wasn’t listening to advice and that if she insisted on leaving, whatever happened would be on her.
It sounded like a curse. Hua Suihe’s mood immediately soured.
The escalator out of the subway was broken too; looking up, the stairs seemed as long as a ladder to heaven.
Hua Suihe held in a breath and climbed up. After that, she followed the navigation for a long stretch before finally spotting the Yu Sheng Troupe building.
Compared to that shabby little two-story building in Area A, this Yu Sheng Troupe location had way more presence-the kind of presence a grand hall had.
Before she went in, she checked the time. It was already past eleven.
She adjusted her mood and stepped inside.
Sure enough, Ye Susheng was standing quietly by her workstation.
She was wearing an ink-black, tight-fitting qipao, with a white mink shawl draped over her shoulders. Her hair was styled in an elegant updo, but paired with it were plastic hairpins that didn’t match the luxurious outfit at all, and a plastic ruby pendant-every last piece was cheap stall merchandise Hua Suihe had bought yesterday.
The moment Hua Suihe got close, Ye Susheng pinched her chin and yanked her nearer, a faint streak of violence surfacing in her eyes.
Dragged forward by the motion, Hua Suihe leaned over the desk with both hands braced on it. In that split second of shock, she caught the impatience in Ye Susheng’s gaze, and all the frustration she’d been holding in along the way instantly curdled into hurt.
So angry her eyes turned red, she slapped Ye Susheng’s hand away and accused her resentfully, “Why are you being so fierce?!”
Ye Susheng froze. The burning sting on the back of her hand reminded her the person in front of her wasn’t an illusion.
“Hua Hua…” Ye Susheng murmured instinctively. Then her eyes lit up. “Hua Hua! Hua Hua Hua Hua~ You’re finally here!”
Ye Susheng reached out, trying to pull her over, but Hua Suihe folded her arms and stared at her, fuming.
Ye Susheng immediately looked a little at a loss, gazing at her pitifully. The black mist seeped out of her body, slipped behind Hua Suihe, and started nudging her forward in a sneaky, underhanded way.
“Hua Hua, why won’t you hold my hand…”
Hua Suihe said, “I’m really mad.”
“I couldn’t get a taxi when I left, I couldn’t get out of the subway station, I argued with the staff, I had to climb a ton of stairs, I walked forever, and when I finally got here, you didn’t say a single word-you just grabbed my face.”
She hadn’t put on makeup today, and the red mark where Ye Susheng had pinched her was still there. Hua Suihe tilted her chin up and leaned closer, making her “crime scene” impossible to ignore.
Seeing that vivid red mark, Ye Susheng only felt more heartbroken and regretful. “I’m sorry, Hua Hua. It’s all my fault. You can punish me however you want-just don’t be mad, okay?”
“This place is too far from home. You’ve had it rough, Hua Hua.” This whole area had been contaminated; human drivers wouldn’t accept rides here, and the subway had sealed off this station.
It was all her fault. If she hadn’t affected Hua Hua’s sleep last night, she could’ve gone out with her, booked a car together.
“It’s not actually that far.” Most of Hua Suihe’s anger had already drained away. With the black mist quietly pushing at her back, she moved closer to Ye Susheng again. “You weren’t off work yet, so I came to pick you up.”
“Thank you, Hua Hua.” Ye Susheng lifted a hand and gently brushed the red mark on her face, her eyes brimming with tenderness, so full it looked like it might spill over into tears. “Hua Hua, I’m sorry. Did it hurt a lot?”
“It didn’t.” Hua Suihe couldn’t bear to make her cry, so she changed the subject. “What’s the new script?”
“The new script is Top Star Cultivation. This one’s huge. Your task, Hua Hua, is to make me happy every day.” Ye Susheng realized her wording sounded wrong and hurried to fix it. “You can just kiss me every day, Hua Hua. I’m your sponsor-I’m super easy to please.”
Hua Suihe’s eyes flew wide. “A casting couch deal?”
