Chapter 82

Hua Suihe was distracted by the constant notifications of gift donations being cashed out. Just then, someone tapped her on the shoulder, and the wooden skewer she was using to thread meatballs nearly pricked her hand.

“I’m sorry, did I startle you?” The girl’s voice was clear and gentle, sounding somewhat familiar. Looking at the girl beside her, Hua Suihe realized it was the same person she had seen walking a dog a few days ago.

“Do you remember my name? I’m Xia Moyi.” Xia Moyi was wearing a black dress with a black leather corset cinched at her waist. With her straight, tea-brown hair, she radiated an aura of intellectual and gentle charm.

Hua Suihe found the outfit strangely familiar. She hadn’t given it much thought before, but now, combined with a face that bore a thirty-percent resemblance to her own, a realization suddenly took shape in her mind.

[Holy crap! Isn’t that the Main Character?!]

[That’s the face Hua Hua customized. She looks so much like Hua Hua.]

[We’re doomed. Are there two Hua Huas now?]

[She just said her name is Xia Moyi. There’s only one Hua Hua, don’t talk nonsense.]

[Oh no, I just thought of something even more chaotic. When Hua Hua was streaming the game before, she used her in-game character to flirt with Ye Susheng, right? Which means…]

[The more I think about it, the scarier it gets. My brain is a mess.]

[Will Ye Susheng fall in love with the Main Character? The Main Character is the one who spent half a year with Ye Susheng.]

[But Hua Hua was the one actually accompanying Ye Susheng for those six months.]

As Hua Suihe watched the discussion on the bullet screen, her heart gradually sank to rock bottom.

She was in a daze, falling into the same spiral of thoughts and internal struggle.

She should have realized it sooner. In the real world, the Main Character was her avatar in the game. But now that she had entered the game world herself, that version of her didn’t just vanish because of Hua Suihe’s presence; she was an independent individual.

Ye Susheng had seen her that day, so why hadn’t she shown any reaction? Could her gaze toward Xia Moyi have been…

Hua Suihe couldn’t stop her racing thoughts. Under Xia Moyi’s gaze, she felt an urge to flee and find Ye Susheng. A wave of intense insecurity made her desperate to be by Ye Susheng’s side.

“Ah-He.” The intimate nickname slipped naturally from Xia Moyi’s lips. Seeing the dazed, helpless look in Hua Suihe’s eyes, she instinctively reached out to touch her hand.

Hua Suihe immediately dropped the skewered meatball back into the basket, narrowly avoiding Xia Moyi’s touch.

“I’m sorry, I have something to take care of. Please excuse me.” Hua Suihe’s mind was in turmoil. Until she could sort out her thoughts, she couldn’t bring herself to face this “in-game version of herself” calmly.

But even that description wasn’t quite right. Standing here, Hua Suihe was Hua Suihe, and Xia Moyi was Xia Moyi. They simply shared a thirty-percent resemblance.

Not wanting to appear too unusual, Hua Suihe gave Xia Moyi an apologetic smile before turning and hurrying away.

Xia Moyi instinctively followed for a few steps but eventually stopped, watching as Hua Suihe left the recording site.

It was Ah-He who had created her, who had helped her rescue a stray dog named Mianbao, and who had ensured she wouldn’t be controlled by the main storyline after her “birth,” allowing her to live a stable life free of worries.

Ah-He had been so kind to her before, so why was she so unwilling to speak to her now?

As the most anticipated star-making program and death dungeon, the show’s live stream drew countless viewers. And as Ye Susheng’s girlfriend, Hua Suihe was the focus of many eyes.

This current scene looked like some sort of emotional drama, which was incredibly eye-catching. Since the two looked somewhat alike, people even speculated they might be sisters.

As Hua Suihe ran out of the recording site, a staff member quickly gave chase. Moving as if he had four legs, he caught up to her in no time.

“Miss Hua, Miss Hua! Where are you going?”

Hua Suihe held her phone in her hand, already dialing Ye Susheng’s number.
When Hua Suihe looked back, there was no one behind her. The man who had been speaking to her was nowhere to be found.

Ye Susheng picked up the call, her bright voice coming through the phone. “Hua Hua~ I miss you so much. I wanted to call you. Do you miss me too, Hua Hua?”

Hearing Ye Susheng’s voice, Hua Suihe felt a sudden sting in her nose. She couldn’t sort through the mess of emotions inside her, but she was scared.

Hua Suihe stared at the person on the screen. Crouching beside the money tree, she angled the camera so that only half of her own face fit into the frame. She lowered her voice and said, “Where are you? I want to see you.”

Ye Susheng leaned closer to the screen, studying Hua Suihe’s eyes. “Share your location with me, Hua Hua. I’ll be there soon.”

Hua Suihe minimized the video window and shared her location.

Not long after she sent it, a shadow fell over her. She looked up-and the person from the video was already right in front of her.

Ye Susheng crouched down face-to-face with her, hugging her legs with both arms. “Hua Hua? Did you hide here to secretly miss me?”

Hua Suihe threw her arms around her, practically clinging to her, and buried her face in Ye Susheng’s shoulder.

Ye Susheng dropped to one knee on the ground and steadied her securely, arms circling Hua Suihe’s waist, a palm pressed to her back. Ye Susheng was always good at reading her emotions.

Hua Hua was scared.

Did those ugly monsters scare her?

They couldn’t even do their jobs as staff properly, leaving everything to humans-how dare they make Hua Hua afraid.

“Ye Susheng,” Hua Suihe asked into her shoulder, voice muffled, “the first time you saw me-when was it?”

Ye Susheng was wearing a thin white satin shirt. Cold water droplets seeped through the fabric and landed on her shoulder.

Ye Susheng froze for a long moment, then instinctively patted Hua Suihe’s head. “At the cabin. Hua Hua was at home waiting for me to get off work.”

Hua Suihe insisted, “When exactly?”

“June 1st. Eighty-eight days ago. Hua Hua was asleep in the cabin. Eight in the morning-Hua Hua opened the door to welcome me home from work. It really made it feel like I had a proper end-of-shift ritual.”

“Hua Hua, we’ve been living together for almost three months now. Before, I couldn’t see you or touch you, but you were always talking to me. I know you were with me for a long time before I ever saw you.”

Ye Susheng tried to figure out what was making Hua Suihe so upset. Maybe she hadn’t been with Hua Hua enough. “I’m sorry, Hua Hua. I shouldn’t have listened to the show director’s arrangements. I should’ve stayed with you the whole time.”

Hearing Ye Susheng say that, Hua Suihe gradually calmed down, her heart settling. By that timeline, the first time Ye Susheng saw her was when she had just entered the game world.

What Hua Suihe cared about most was that, back in the real world, she had been tailing Ye Susheng through her game character the entire time-but from Ye Susheng’s perspective, it was like she had no memory of it.

“Then how do you know I was with you for so long?”

“I could feel you,” Ye Susheng said. “I could feel your gaze.” The tips of her ears turned red. “I knew it was Hua Hua-Hua Hua’s one-of-a-kind scent, the warmth in Hua Hua’s eyes, and the things you said to me.”

She had been created by Thriller, born for Thriller. Without Hua Suihe, she could only live under the rules forever.

Hua Hua always said she loved her. Hua Hua’s love was fierce and gentle. When Thriller realized she was about to break free of its control, it carried out the first forced Formatting on her-but the hope Hua Hua gave her was what let her break the rules for the first time.

Hua Hua said she loved her, that she wanted to see her.

So Ye Susheng granted her wish.

Ye Susheng held her tighter. The black mist rolled out, wrapping Hua Suihe completely, like transparent silkworm silk.

Hua Hua loved her-very, very, very much.

Ye Susheng’s blood-red eyes shone with an eerie light. She pressed close to Hua Suihe’s ear, her voice sticky with obsession as she murmured, “Hua Hua loves me. Hua Hua loves me so much…”
