Marry the NPC with Money, Wife Comes Knocking - Chapter 84
Chapter 84
Ye Susheng held Hua Suihe’s hand, ignoring the gazes of others as they returned to a barbecue grill at Venue One.
Xia Moyi followed them back to the recording site. She didn’t sit with them, choosing instead to sit around a different grill.
Her eyes were downcast as she absentmindedly smoothed out her skirt, her mind clearly elsewhere.
Just then, someone handed her a grilled starch sausage. “Fresh off the grill. Want some?”
Xia Moyi’s gaze fell on the sausage dusted with chili powder before moving upward to a peerlessly handsome face. When he smiled, dimples appeared on his cheeks, radiating a youthful and energetic aura.
Xia Moyi pursed her lips, her face pale as she looked away, giving him the cold shoulder.
The man didn’t get angry. Seeing she wasn’t interested, he pulled it back. He noticed she seemed to be in a bad mood and looked quite pale, wondering if she was feeling unwell.
Thinking she might not want something so spicy, he placed a cob of corn on the grill, planning to give it to her once it was cooked.
Xia Moyi’s heart was in a state of turmoil. She knew this man was Yu Yan, one of the four male leads. The unique nature of a male lead meant that her heart would race just by looking at him.
Of course, this wasn’t a sign of attraction; it was simply the mechanism that allowed her to identify a male lead. She had been drifting outside the plot for too long and hadn’t encountered a male lead to progress the story.
After Ah-He created her, she hadn’t forced her into any plotlines. Instead, Ah-He had focused solely on building a home for her, buying her clothes, and adopting pets.
If she hadn’t insisted on coming here, she still wouldn’t have been dragged into the plot.
But she had seen Ah-He. It was a rare opportunity to spend time with her, so even though she knew it would likely trigger the plot, she had come without hesitation.
Yet Ah-He was preoccupied with her romance and seemed afraid of her. Xia Moyi couldn’t forget those panicked eyes or the sight of her hurried departure.
It turned out Ah-He didn’t like her.
That was why, after placing her in the ‘Home,’ Ah-He never visited again. As time passed, Ah-He had even forgotten the pet she had personally picked up and given to her.
While Xia Moyi was lost in her sorrow, a large cob of corn was thrust in front of her eyes, demanding her attention.
“No chili powder on this one. Do you like corn?”
No one took the offered corn. Yu Yan awkwardly pulled his hand back and took a bite himself, the heat making him gasp.
It really did lack flavor without the chili powder, so he sprinkled some seasoning on it for himself.
Xia Moyi looked at him and asked, “Why are you grilling things for me?”
Yu Yan finally received some social response, and his eyes immediately lit up. He grabbed a skewer of grilled squid and handed it to her.
“You looked like you were in a bad mood. Eating something will make you feel better. Want some squid?”
“No, keep it for yourself.” Xia Moyi looked toward Hua Suihe, just in time to see Ye Susheng feeding her a grilled meatball. The two of them were in their own world, peaceful and content.
The Anomaly Ah-He kept was actually the great devil Ye Susheng. His infamy was widespread, and no one dared to sit at their grill to join the fun.
Ah-He was so bold. What if Ye Susheng went out of control? Did she really have to date Ye Susheng?
Xia Moyi’s reaction didn’t escape Yu Yan’s notice. He followed her gaze and saw the sweet couple.
“They seem to have been together for a long time. Peanut is quite impressive, actually dating Ye Susheng.”
Xia Moyi’s tone turned cold. “Are you saying Hua Suihe is taking advantage?”
“Huh? No, not at all.” Yu Yan shook his head quickly and explained, “I mean, everyone avoids Ye Susheng like the plague, but Peanut isn’t afraid of him at all. It’s impressive. I truly admire her strength.”
“I’ve seen many netizens saying nasty things about her online, but I think her being able to get close to Ye Susheng is a skill in itself. Those people badmouthing her couldn’t even take that first step.”
Xia Moyi’s expression softened. “Ah-He is the best.”
Yu Yan seemed to sense an unusual vibe. Hesitantly, he asked her, “You like Peanut?”
“Is that not allowed?” Xia Moyi instinctively tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her expression composed. “She’s so good to me, why shouldn’t I like her?”
“Erm…” Yu Yan hesitated, pointing at Ye Susheng and Hua Suihe, who were acting all lovey-dovey. “Is your ‘liking’ her the same kind of ‘liking’ as the relationship they have?”
Xia Moyi’s gaze drifted over to them again as she emphasized, “I just want to like Ah-He. She’s good to me, so I want to be good to her too.”
After saying that, Xia Moyi added, “I’m not going to be with you.”
Yu Yan opened his mouth to speak but stopped. Finally, he stuffed a whole skewer of shiitake mushrooms into his mouth and started chewing.
After finishing, he tossed the bamboo skewer into the trash bag and spoke slowly, “I only gave you barbecue because I saw you were in a bad mood. I didn’t mean anything else by it.”
“The person you like is a bit hard to pursue. Good luck with that.”
Xia Moyi didn’t respond. He had no idea that male and female leads drawn into a plot easily developed feelings for each other. Making her stance clear from the start could help prevent any romantic progression to some extent.
On the other side, Hua Suihe and Ye Susheng, the subjects of the conversation, were enjoying their barbecue.
“Hua Hua, do you like eggplant? I’ll grill another one.”
Hua Suihe clutched a greasy tissue. “I’ve eaten a bit too much.”
“Is Hua Hua full?” Ye Susheng reached out to pat Hua Suihe’s stomach. “If Hua Hua isn’t full, is it because you have no appetite? Or is my grilling not good?”
“No, I just need a break. You should rest too.” Hua Suihe took her hand. “I want to tell you something.”
“Is it about that girl Xia? Hua Hua cried today because of her.” Ye Susheng stated calmly, though privately she didn’t want to hear another person’s name from Hua Hua’s lips.
But she did care about it-just a little bit.
“I cried because I thought you liked her first.” Hua Suihe hooked her fingers. Usually, she liked to squeeze black cotton, but now she was squeezing Ye Susheng’s fingers instead.
She continued to explain patiently, “It’s like playing a game. I created a character, and when I entered the game, that character I created also existed, so I…”
“Hua Hua, I’ve never met her.” Ye Susheng pulled her hand up and kissed the back of it, her mood brightening.
“Hua Hua is Hua Hua. There is no second Hua Hua.”
“Hua Hua can play many games and create many game characters, but there is only one Hua Hua.”
“Did Hua Hua cry because she was worried I loved that girl Xia?” Ye Susheng’s smile was as bright as a flower as she leaned in to kiss the corner of Hua Hua’s lips repeatedly.
Ye Susheng had been very bothered that Hua Suihe’s emotions were affected by Xia Moyi, but at this moment, she tasted a hint of sweetness. Her smile was quite triumphant.
“So Hua Hua was jealous~”
Hua Suihe gave a soft huff and pinched her cheeks, her attitude uncharacteristically firm. “There’s no room for a second person between us.”
“Even if it’s another version of me in concept, it’s not allowed.”
“I know.” Ye Susheng enjoyed Hua Hua’s touch, murmuring softly, “I know…”
She had always resisted the mental erosion of the Thriller, because even a Ye Susheng after Formatting wouldn’t do.
