When I saw Shen An again.

He was being held alone in a spacious, well-lit room.

Various Talisman papers drawn in red cinnabar were pasted along the corridor.

I looked at him through the glass window.

Shen An sat quietly on the floor. The black-red runes on his face had faded, revealing a cold, pale, and refined appearance, except his eyes were hollow and dark.

The investigator opened the door.

I whispered a thank you.

And walked up to Shen An.

His eyes were lowered, his face expressionless.

“Shen An?”

I crouched down and poked his cheek.

Cold and soft.

“Did you forget me?”

A little disappointed, I sighed softly: “I originally wanted you to hold me to sleep, but since you can’t go out now, I guess that’s not possible.”

He moved his fingers slightly, looking at me in confusion.

“Alright, you really forgot.

“If you ignore me, I’ll ignore you too.”

I hummed softly and started to get up.

Suddenly, Shen An grabbed my arm and pulled me under him, hugging my waist tightly, not letting me move, and stammered two words stiffly and awkwardly.

“Don’t… go…”

Chilly tears of blood fell on my neck.

Feeling a pang of heartache, I hugged him back.

“I’m not leaving, Shen An.

“If you behave, I won’t leave.”

“Behave…”

He nervously nuzzled my shoulder and neck.

“I’ll… behave.”

I pulled him up, held his face, dropped a kiss at the corner of his lips, and smiled with curved eyes: “I know.

“Shen An, you’re the best at behaving.”

The young man froze, then bent down, wanting to kiss me too, but I pushed him away: “You have to smell incense and listen to scripture every day before you can kiss me.”

“No… I… don’t want to.”

He unhappily trapped my wrists, kissing me carefully, quick and fleeting like a dragonfly skimming water.

That’s what he said.

I pressed his shoulders and said:

“Do you want me to teach you?”

“How… to teach?”

I sat up, wrapped my arms around his neck, and kissed him softly, gently prying his lips open, tangling my tongue with his.

“Shen An, you have to kiss like this.”

I nibbled on the tip of his ear.

Shen An tried to pull me closer, but I refused.

“I’ll… teach you.”

He cupped my face, but I stopped him with my fingertip pressed to his lips.

“Shen An, you can’t trick me-I don’t need to be taught.”

The young man lowered his eyes in grievance.

I kissed his eyelids and coaxed softly: “If you obediently get treated, I’ll let you teach me, alright?”

“Mm.”

Under my coaxing and cajoling, Shen An really did become much more obedient.

And a lot more clear-headed.

The only thing was, every treatment session required a kiss.

And he was extremely clingy.

Even when I kept him company reading, he would hold me in his arms, rest his chin on my shoulder, and lightly kiss my hair.

“You’re so clingy, Shen An.”

“Sorry.”

He lowered his eyes apologetically.

I put the book down, turned to kiss him, my eyes curving gently: “It’s alright. I like it too.”
