Novel Info

The rain was heavy today.

Night fell quickly.

By the time I got home, it was so dark it was almost absurd.

Maybe it was because of the rain, but I couldn’t get a single taxi on my phone. After thinking it over, I decided to go to a shop and buy an umbrella to walk home.

But I passed several supermarkets, and all of them were closed.

With no other choice, Shen An personally came to escort me home with his umbrella.

“I’m really sorry, I just changed apartments last month, and it’s a bit far from school.”

Standing downstairs at the residential building, I explained the reason to Shen An, feeling even more guilty when I saw half of his school uniform soaked through.

“It’s really cold. Why don’t you come up to my place for a while, have some hot tea, and use the hair dryer to warm up?”

Shen An closed the umbrella, lowered his eyelids, and let me pull down the zipper in front of him, taking off his oversized school uniform.

“Let’s go.”

I held his school uniform, knowing he wouldn’t refuse, and with my other hand, I took his cold hand and led him up the stairs.

“The rent here is pretty cheap, but there’s no elevator. My place is on the fifth floor, so climbing the stairs might be tiring.”

I put my hands on my hips, panting slightly as I explained.

Shen An glanced at my flushed cheeks, his Adam’s apple bobbing lightly, then bent down and picked me up.

I was so startled I trembled, my ears burning red as I asked him to put me down.

Sensing my resistance, he explained seriously:

“This way, it’s not tiring.”

“Shen An, your way of thinking is really unusual.”

It really wasn’t tiring this way.

But it was way too embarrassing.

I buried my face in his shoulder, refusing to look. As we just got downstairs, an old lady was watching us with a strange look in her eyes.

“Young lady.”

Her voice was hoarse and aged, suddenly ringing out.

Her hair was white, her face deeply wrinkled and exceptionally old, as if kindly reminding me:

“Some people are not people.”

I didn’t understand, so I looked up at her.

But the old lady had already disappeared.
