My Hired Chat Boyfriend at the Blind Date Is Actually a Wolf - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
After Wen Yan got out of the car, I truly realized that his earlier words hadn’t been part of some Werewolf game at all.
When that strange thing lunged at him, it moved as fast as a blur of shadow.
Wen Yan was faster.
I didn’t even see his movements clearly; I only heard a dull thud, and the thing was already being slammed violently into the ground.
Under the streetlights, Wen Yan stood there, his back and shoulders tense like a blade suppressed with killing intent.
The monster bared its teeth, letting out a hideous hiss from its mouth.
“Young Master…”
“You’re protecting a human?”
Young Master?
My mind went blank for a second.
Meanwhile, Wen Yan’s face remained devoid of expression.
“Who sent you?”
The monster tried to laugh, but Wen Yan had already raised his hand to seize its throat, lifting it up with one hand.
In that instant, I saw faint black markings emerge on the back of his hand, as if something hidden beneath the skin was waking up.
“Last time.”
“Who sent you?”
The monster gasped for air, actually turning its gaze toward me again.
“The clan already knows…”
“She has your scent on her…”
Before it could finish, Wen Yan’s grip tightened.
The monster’s neck snapped to the side, and it stopped moving entirely.
I sat in the car, my whole body frozen.
By the time Wen Yan returned to the driver’s seat, his expression had regained its calm, as if he had just casually snuffed out a cigarette.
I stared at him, and after a long while, I managed to ask only one thing:
“What exactly are you?”
Wen Yan started the car, his tone as level as a weather forecast.
“A Black Wolf.”
I was silent for a full five seconds.
Then I asked:
“Are you law-abiding?”
Wen Yan glanced at me.
“Yes.”
“Do you eat people?”
“No.”
“Do you have a criminal record?”
“No.”
I nodded.
“Fine, then it’s not a big deal.”
Wen Yan seemed genuinely surprised.
“Your capacity for acceptance has always been this strong?”
“No.” I leaned back against the seat. “It’s mostly because tonight has already been ridiculous enough. Even if it gets a bit more ridiculous, I can’t be bothered to have a breakdown.”
After saying that, I asked him what the monster meant by “Young Master” and “Boundary Keeper.”
Wen Yan remained silent for a moment before finally telling me.
The Black Wolf clan had been searching for something for years called the Old Boundary Seal.
And my ancestors were the ones responsible for guarding the Old Boundary.
The batch of old city archives I had been handling at the company recently had likely re-activated the aura of a Boundary Keeper on me.
Those things had caught the scent and come chasing after it.
“So from now on, you can’t be left alone.”
I looked at him.
“You’re going to protect me?”
“Yes.”
“Why you?”
Wen Yan gripped the steering wheel, the lines of his profile pulled tight.
“Because you have my scent on you.”
“If other wolves get close to you, I’ll be unhappy.”
These words sounded too much like flirting.
Yet, he said them with such absolute seriousness.
For a moment, I didn’t know whether to feel my face heat up or to scold him first.
The car reached the bottom of my apartment building. Just as Wen Yan was about to accompany me upstairs, he noticed a second Wolf Scent already left at my door.
Wen Yan stared at it for two seconds and simply said:
“Something has been inside.”
“Stay behind me.”
As soon as the door opened, a black shadow lunged directly from behind the curtains.
Wen Yan reached out and grabbed it by the scruff of its neck.
The lights came on, and I saw that it was actually a little Wolf Cub.
In the next second, that Wolf Cub went “poof” right in front of me and transformed into a black-haired youth.
Even while being held by the scruff of his neck by Wen Yan, he didn’t forget to shout at me:
“Sister-in-law, save me!”
