Chapter 0 I had originally planned to head out that day to find something to eat. But the moment I pulled the door open just a crack, I saw a monster covered in black armor curled up in the hallway. The creature clearly could have mauled me to death right then and there. Instead, it simply looked up at me and slowly, bit by bit, retracted its claws. It was almost as if it were afraid of scaring me.
