Ye Guilan was tormented awake by a wave of nausea.

The air was filled with a stench that made her sick to her stomach, and for some reason, it was getting thicker and thicker. She tossed and turned uncomfortably, and finally got up to vomit by the side.

Everything she had eaten that evening came up, leaving her dizzy and feeling terrible.

The crucial thing was that the stench was only getting worse. Even opening the window didn’t help. She had only one thought: to get out of here, or she might just vomit up her newly awakened Spirit Seed.

Because of the nausea and constant vomiting, Ye Guilan was obviously much weaker.

She pushed open the door and walked unsteadily outside, the surges in her stomach never stopping.

Just as she was about to go downstairs, a waiter carrying dishes came toward her, and the drifting scent made Ye Guilan gag again.

“Miss, please make way. Magical Beast meat dishes won’t taste good once they get cold.”

Ye Guilan hurriedly dodged to the side, just wanting to leave this shop as soon as possible to get some fresh air outside.

She rushed down the stairs, only to have someone block her way.

“Move, I need to go downstairs.”

Ye Guilan spoke in a low voice. She could hardly stand it any longer.

“I’m not moving. If you want to go down, walk back and use the other side.”

Ye Guilan looked up-it was the girl who had pulled her hair in the weapon shop earlier in the day.

She was half a head taller than Ye Guilan, with a tall and striking figure, and an arrogant and brash face. Ye Guilan glanced at her clothes; she was from a family, and it didn’t seem to be a minor one.

Liu Ruyu didn’t dress as well as her.

“Miss, please move aside, move aside!”

Another waiter with steaming hot dishes came up, but the girl blocking the way was rude to everyone. “Can’t you take the other way?”

The waiter glanced at her a few times, said no more, and quickly took the dishes through another passage.

But Ye Guilan couldn’t hold it in anymore.

The steaming new Magical Beast meat dishes instantly triggered her already overwhelming urge to vomit, and her stomach churned fiercely.

“Urgh-!”

She vomited directly, all over the girl standing in front of her.

“You-!”

The girl was so angry she was about to strike, but Ye Guilan retched again, this time getting it all over the girl’s foot.

Covering her mouth, Ye Guilan quickly turned around and ran back, going downstairs via another passage.

The girl who was vomited on could only furiously grab her clothes and quickly return to her room to wash up.

Ye Guilan made her way to the back door and pushed it open, escaping outside.

The door closed behind her, and fresh, clean air rushed into her lungs, making her nausea fade almost instantly.

After a quick clean-up, she weakly sat on the ground, leaning against the door.

Behind the shop was a dark alley, narrow, long, and poorly lit, used only to store some sundries and tools.

Ye Guilan didn’t want to go back for now, and only felt a bit better after sitting here and catching her breath for a while.

The waves in her stomach finally calmed, and she leaned there, so exhausted that she was drifting off to sleep.

“Why are you sitting here? Couldn’t get in or were you thrown out?”

A voice sounded. Ye Guilan felt it familiar and slowly opened her eyes.

In the alley at night, someone walked towards her. It was the young man who had talked to her for no reason back in Chunyuan Town and then left just as suddenly. His face was so plain it would never stand out in a crowd.

“Why… is it you again.”

Ye Guilan mumbled softly, closing her eyes again, not wanting to bother with him. She just wanted to sit here for a while.

“Where’s your father? Why isn’t he with you?”

The youth, seeing that she was ignoring him, walked straight over and squatted in front of her. He looked very young, about the same age as Ye Guilan, but already much taller than her.

What does it have to do with you?

Ye Guilan grumbled in her heart, too tired to reply, simply closing her eyes and pretending she hadn’t heard.

Seeing her still not opening her eyes and looking so weak, the youth suddenly panicked a little.

“Ye Guilan, hey!”

He gave her face a hard slap. Ye Guilan opened her eyes at once from the pain, a little angry. “Did you just slap me?”

“I thought something was wrong with you.”

The youth withdrew his hand. “If you’re fine, don’t sit here. This is a dark alley. It’s not safe for a girl like you.”

“I know. I’m just feeling a little unwell and wanted to stay here for a bit. I’ll go back soon.”

Realizing he meant no harm, Ye Guilan replied. She was getting drowsy again, but he was right-she shouldn’t be sitting out here in the dark alley at night. She really ought to go back inside the shop now.

But when she thought of that sickening smell, Ye Guilan frowned. If she went back, she’d probably vomit to death.

“Are you feeling unwell?”

The youth noticed her pale face. Ye Guilan gave a faint “mm,” and said, “There’s a smell inside this shop that makes me really nauseous. I had no choice but to run out.”
Ye Guilan forced herself to stay awake and looked at him. “I’ll sit here a while longer. Thank you for reminding me, but I can’t go back now.”

The young man glanced at her a few times, then stood up and walked away without another word. Watching how quickly his figure disappeared, Ye Guilan couldn’t help but twitch the corner of her mouth. What kind of speed was that?

“Look, the girl sitting over there is really pretty.”

After a while, two figures crept out of the dark alley, their eyes on Ye Guilan full of malice. Before they could do anything, a figure flashed before them, completely blocking their line of sight.

In the darkness, the young man’s gaze was chillingly sharp.

The two men shuddered under his stare, hurriedly backing away until they broke into a run and disappeared.

The young man turned and looked at Ye Guilan, who was sitting there with a face that screamed “I’m about to fall asleep.” In the end, he quietly walked over with light footsteps.

By this point, Ye Guilan had really fallen asleep.

She had only meant to sit here for a while to ease her nausea and discomfort before going back-at worst, she could always run out again.

But she hadn’t expected to actually fall asleep.

She was just sitting on the ground, leaning against the cold wall, her head drooping slightly.

The young man squatted in front of her and shook his head helplessly. “She really fell asleep… Do you think this is Chunyuan Town?”

His black eyes fixed on her sleeping face, he spoke with a hint of annoyance, “Still so defenseless. Aren’t you afraid someone might ambush you or do something bad?”

Ye Guilan’s little head swayed gently and lifted itself up.

She was sleeping uncomfortably, muddled and groggy.

The young man thought she had woken up and was about to say something, but her head drooped again.

Seeing her sleep like this, the young man turned his face away helplessly, then silently sat down next to her and reached over, letting her head rest on his shoulder.

With her head supported, Ye Guilan’s body quickly leaned over as well.

The young man’s face reddened a little, but he didn’t stop her from coming closer.

“I thought you’d changed, but it seems you haven’t gotten much smarter.”

He turned to look at her sleeping face and murmured, his eyes complicated.

The head resting on his shoulder kept sliding down. Each time it slipped, she managed to lift it and lean on him again. The young man sat silently by her side, as quiet as a wooden stake.

Once more, her head slipped down-this time, right onto his legs, where she lay.

Now lying down, Ye Guilan turned over, ending up on her side across his legs, and at the same time wrapped her arms around his slim waist, hugging him.

“You-!”

The young man was so startled by her actions that he was about to get up and leave, but when he saw her haggard face, he stopped himself. His face began to turn red, and he looked at the girl sleeping soundly on his legs, both embarrassed and annoyed.

Did she even know what she was doing?

“Ye Guilan, are you awake?”

The young man stiffened his body and lowered his head to ask. The person sleeping on his legs rubbed her cheek slightly but didn’t reply.

Behind him was a cold wall; on his legs was her warm, soft weight.

Around his waist were her intimately wrapped arms.

The young man’s face grew redder and redder. In the end, he sighed helplessly and made no further move.

Ye Guilan only felt that she had slept very well. After all that nausea and retching, a good sleep was the greatest blessing.

When she opened her eyes, all she saw was the dark alley behind the shop-only now, sunlight was streaming in.

No way, had she really fallen asleep here while sitting?

She hurried to her feet, her legs numb and stumbling a bit, quickly pushed open the door, and entered the shop. The smell of Magical Beast meat had already dissipated completely, making Ye Guilan breathe a huge sigh of relief.

When she returned to her room, Ye He hadn’t come back yet. Ye Guilan yawned and planned to take another nap.

When Ye He returned, he found his daughter still asleep. He quietly closed the door, but still managed to wake the person on the bed.

“Dad, you’re back.”

Ye Guilan rubbed her eyes and got up. “Are we leaving now?”

Fortunately, they were only staying here for one night. Ye Guilan just wanted to leave as soon as possible.

“Sleep a little longer. We’re not in a hurry.”

“No, no, let’s go now. Let’s leave quickly.”

Father and daughter set off at once. Sitting in the carriage, Ye Guilan leaned against the soft cushion, feeling drowsy again. She secretly made a note of this city’s name, determined never to come back.

The carriage had just left the city gates when several Magical Beasts carrying riders thundered past. If the road hadn’t been wide, they would have collided for sure.

Ye Guilan lifted the curtain and saw that among the people riding the Magical Beasts, there was someone she recognized.

That girl who had pestered her and made trouble more than once.

She was headed to Abyss Capital as well. Ye Guilan understood immediately-looks like with the small sect selection coming up, they’d have to meet again.
