Help, please…

Ye Guilan looked as if she understood, but as for the Cloud Armor Leopard, she couldn’t make the decision.

Although it was her own father who acquired it, eight million was not a sum that could be given away at will.

Seeing her expression, the young man knew she couldn’t help, so he could only nod apologetically. The siblings still stood at the entrance of the Trading House, seemingly unwilling to give up.

Ye Guilan glanced at the entrance. The people who had just attended the auction hadn’t dispersed yet, gathering there and discussing in hushed tones.

The center of their discussion was: What did Ye He buy the Cloud Armor Leopard for at eight million?

“Ye Guilan, you’re here too!”

A coquettish voice called out. Ye Guilan turned to see Liu Ruyu, surrounded by a group of fangirls, clearly enjoying the attention.

Liu Ruyu glanced at Ye Guilan indifferently, not particularly interested, but one of his fangirls spoke up.

“Are you here to see the Cloud Armor Leopard too? We’re here to see who won the bid for it.”

“Oh, could it be your father?”

Ye Guilan didn’t want to associate with them, but they inexplicably approached her, so she could only smile awkwardly. “I don’t know, I just got here myself.”

Liu Ruyu stepped forward, “It’s quite lucky for the Cloud Armor Leopard to appear here. I heard it’s very majestic and impressive. If it could be a mount…”

“Yes, if Ruyu had such a mount, he’d look so cool!”

“Ye Guilan, what are you thinking? You skipped out on the Spatial Container, but this time you have to make up for it. Just treat the Cloud Armor Leopard as your compensation gift.”

???

What kind of logic is that? If she couldn’t even give the Spatial Container, how could she possibly give away an eight-million Cloud Armor Leopard?

“Guilan!”

Ye He came out of the Trading House, beaming when he saw his daughter, striding over energetically. As for Liu Ruyu and the others, they were outside Ye He’s field of vision.

He handed Ye Guilan a key without explanation. Ye Guilan looked at it, confused.

“This leopard is a gift from your father. Here.”

Ye Guilan was stunned, staring at the small key in her hand. What was she supposed to do with the leopard? Ride it, or keep it as a pet?

“Ye Guilan, aren’t you going to say something?”

The fangirls grew excited. Ye He frowned slightly, his gaze fixed on his daughter. After a moment, he sighed, “Do you really like this boy so much?”

Ye Guilan looked up, clutching the key tightly, silent for a moment.

“Dad, there’s something I need to clarify with you. I might have been blind before and liked the wrong person.”

Liu Ruyu wanted to speak but held back because Ye He was present. The fangirls were dumbfounded. “Ye Guilan, are you crazy!”

“I know whether I’m crazy or not. As for you, I can’t say.”

“Ye Guilan, did you jump into the water and get water in your brain!”

The fangirls tried to save face for Liu Ruyu. “Weren’t you always throwing yourself at Ruyu, sticking to him as much as possible? Now you say you don’t like him? What do you take Ruyu for? Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were a different person!”

Ye Guilan noticed Ye He’s gaze on her. Yes, the change was too obvious; she was bound to get into trouble.

“Guilan, it’s good that you’ve come to your senses, but why don’t you like this boy anymore? I remember you were deeply infatuated with him.”

Ye Guilan looked toward the siblings at the Trading House entrance, steeled herself, and walked over quickly. Ye He frowned as he watched his daughter’s figure.

Fortunately, Miss Ye had always acted like a lovesick fool, so anything she did could be explained away.

The young man felt someone approaching quickly from behind and turned alertly, only to see a beautiful face smiling sweetly at him.

Ye Guilan stood beside him, calling out to Ye He, “Because Liu Ruyu isn’t as good-looking as him.”

Ye He looked at his daughter, momentarily at a loss for words.

The young man blushed, whispering, “Miss, what are you doing?”

“Emergency. Help me out.”

Ye Guilan muttered with a forced smile. The young man’s sister, annoyed, tried to pull Ye Guilan away. “You lovesick fool, what are you trying to do to my brother? Get away!”

Ye Guilan smiled at Liu Ruyu, but was dragged aside by the sister and didn’t approach again.

Liu Ruyu turned away angrily, and the fangirls cursed a few times before hurrying after him. Ye Guilan didn’t care about Liu Ruyu; she was a bit nervous because Ye He hadn’t taken his eyes off her.

Those eyes seemed to be scrutinizing, evaluating.

The onlookers dispersed, but now they had new gossip: Ye Guilan truly lived up to her reputation as a famous lovesick!

With a sigh, Ye He walked over, looking somewhat weary. His daughter had just escaped one pit, only to fall into another.

“Guilan, this is…”

Ye Guilan quickly walked to Ye He’s side, grabbing his sleeve, intending to leave.
“No need to ask his name, Father. I just think he’s good-looking, and that’s all-just looking is enough.”

Someone came out of the Trading House and, seeing Ye He, quickly walked over. Ye He nodded and followed the person back into the Trading House.

The younger sister snorted coldly. “You used my brother and don’t even say thank you?”

She wasn’t a fool and could naturally see through the situation. The young man tugged at her, signaling her not to speak further, but the sister couldn’t suppress her anger. “It’s just my brother’s bad luck to run into a lovestruck fool like you. Brother, let’s go!”

“Thank you.”

Ye Guilan spoke up, but the sister turned back in anger. “You used my brother as a shield, dragged him into your lovesick mess, and you really think a simple thank you is enough?”

“Enough…”

The young man tried to cover his sister’s mouth, but she was too worked up.

“We went through so much to get this information. My brother begged and pleaded countless times for that Cloud Armor Leopard, finally scraped together enough money… only for your father to buy it out from under us…”

At this point, her eyes reddened. “That Cloud Armor Leopard was given to you as a gift by your father, but to my brother-!”

The young man covered her mouth and forcefully pulled her away. Ye Guilan looked down at the key in her hand and called out,

“Don’t go yet, wait for me.”

She raised the key in her hand. “Although my father gave this to me, the price was too high. I’ll go ask.”

Not long after, Ye Guilan came back out. “My father said I can handle it however I want. Although this Cloud Armor Leopard is very important to you, my father did pay real money for it-eight million. For that price, the Cloud Armor Leopard is yours.”

“We don’t have that much!” The sister couldn’t help but flush and growl in a low voice. The young man also looked embarrassed. “We… can only come up with five and a half million.”

“Five and a half million is fine. The rest can be put on an IOU,” Ye Guilan said. She didn’t really understand why Ye He would spend eight million on a Cloud Armor Leopard for his daughter, but it was his way of showing affection, so not a single coin could be lost.

“An IOU?”

The young man raised his eyebrows, clearly taken aback by her demand. The sister, face red and ears burning, spoke up, “Are you kidding? We’re a Fifth-Rank Family in Lan City. How could we possibly owe you money, let alone write an IOU!”

“I don’t care what rank your family is. If you want the Cloud Armor Leopard, I’m willing to sell it to you at the purchase price. If you don’t agree, then forget it.”

Gone was the coquettish charm from earlier; now Ye Guilan was firm and unyielding on the price.

“Fine, I can write an IOU. You’re right, being a Fifth-Rank Family doesn’t mean we’re completely trustworthy.”

The young man spoke, actually taking out paper and pen to write the IOU. The sister stared in shock. “Brother, we’re a Fifth-Rank Family. If word gets out that we wrote an IOU, what will the elders say…”

“So what if we’re a Fifth-Rank Family? Saving a life is more important.”

The young man spoke quietly. The IOU was already written, even stamped with his fingerprint.

“Thank you for your generosity, Miss. Keep the IOU safe. If you ever come to Lan City, you’re always welcome at our door.”

After putting away the IOU, Ye Guilan handed the small key to the young man.

The siblings took the key and hurried into the Trading House, just brushing past Ye He.

Ye He, coming out, seemed to understand something. “Did Father buy the wrong thing?”

Ye Guilan tugged at the corner of her mouth. “Father, I don’t really like living things.”

Father and daughter chatted as they walked home.

Ye He nodded. “I could tell you didn’t like it. I was too hasty.”

“That Cloud Armor Leopard isn’t much use to me anyway, is it?”

“You’re right. Next time, I’ll buy you something you can actually use.”

“…”

“Guilan, that young man from earlier…”

Ye Guilan felt Ye He’s gaze fall on her and quickly changed the subject.

“By the way, Father, there are some parts in that booklet I don’t quite understand…”

Ye He’s attention was successfully diverted. Seeing how much his daughter cared about his booklet filled him with joy.

His daughter really was reading it, and she truly valued his things.

The topic of conversation was successfully changed, and Ye Guilan breathed a sigh of relief.

When the two arrived at their doorstep, Ye Guilan had just pushed open the door when Xiao Ju’s piercing voice rang out, “Miss! Just now, Young Master Liu…”

Just thinking of Liu Ruyu made Ye Guilan feel a surge of irritation. How many more times would she have to act like a lovesick fool in front of her father because of him?

“Tell him to get lost!”

Xiao Ju was stunned by this outburst, watching as Ye Guilan quickly strode back to her room and slammed the door shut.

The little maid wanted to ask the Master what was going on, only to see Ye He walk into the pharmacy with a smile, humming a tune.

Xiao Ju looked up. “Strange, the weather hasn’t changed, has it?”
