Last night, Ye Guilan spent the entire evening painstakingly studying the little booklet her father had given her. The strange formulas written all over it-she was actually beginning to understand them now.

Ye Guilan was so absorbed in reading that she lost track of time. It was only when she realized that daylight had appeared outside that she noticed she hadn’t slept at all.

Although the Spirit Seed inside her had already awakened, and she had taken so many Spirit-Building Pills, there was still no obvious change.

“Miss! Miss!”

Xiao Ju’s pig-slaughtering cries were nothing new to Ye Guilan. She yawned, intending to lie back down and catch up on her sleep.

Bang!

The door was pushed open by Xiao Ju. “Miss, Young Master Liu is going to Lan City! The Liu Family has become a Fifth-Rank Family!”

“Oh.”

The person on the bed answered, preparing to close her eyes and go back to sleep. But Xiao Ju’s next sentence made Ye Guilan sit up with a jolt.

“The Liu Family being able to become a Fifth-Rank Family is partly thanks to you, Miss.”

“What did I do?”

“Miss, you gave Young Master Liu so many valuable items, and even gave him lots of the medicines Master gave you.”

A bolt of lightning struck Ye Guilan’s mind.

What a disaster!

Now she finally understood why people called her a lovesick fool. If this wasn’t foolish, what was?

She dared to give anything away, all for a man, to such an obsessive degree?

And the key point was, even if the man was worth it, he clearly wasn’t worth such a price!

Ye Guilan pressed her hand firmly against her chest and let out a long sigh.

Miss Ye, what exactly did you see in him? Were there not enough fish in his pond?

“Miss, since you like Young Master Liu so much, aren’t you going to see him off? If the Liu Family moves to Lan City, it won’t be as easy for you to see Young Master Liu as before.”

Xiao Ju’s words made Ye Guilan get out of bed immediately and hurry to the door, but she suddenly stopped at the doorway.

She turned around and spoke to Xiao Ju with the utmost seriousness.

“I don’t like Liu Ruyu anymore.”

Xiao Ju blinked several times. “Miss doesn’t like Young Master Liu anymore? Then who does Miss like now?”

Ye Guilan’s lips moved, but she turned and dashed out.

The streets were packed with people. For this little town, having a family leap into the ranks was truly a big deal.

The Liu Family had over a dozen carriages front and back, looking quite grand.

The onlookers were all extremely envious. Joining the family ranking system, even if only as the lowest Fifth-Rank, was a mark of status.

From now on, it would be possible for them to achieve great success, and making connections with even higher-ranking families would no longer be just a dream.

A few fangirls were following alongside Liu Ruyu’s carriage, all looking reluctant to part.

From a corner, Ye Guilan watched the Liu Family’s convoy, counting the chests stacked one after another on top of the carriages.

She needed to remember, remember clearly-one day, she would make the Liu Family return all those things.

The more she counted, the angrier she became; the more she remembered, the more astronomical the numbers seemed.

Ye Guilan watched until her blood boiled, pressing her hand to her chest again, her teeth grinding audibly.

The Liu Family’s convoy left Chunyuan Town in great splendor. Not until the last carriage disappeared from view did Ye Guilan finally look away.

She had stared so intently, for so long, that her eyes became dry and sore, and even tears came out.

She rubbed her dry eyes and headed home, but several figures blocked her path all at once.

“Didn’t you say you don’t like Ruyu anymore? Why are you here secretly wiping away tears?”

Ye Guilan put down her hand. “Which eye of yours saw me secretly wiping away tears?”

She hadn’t slept all night, and her eyes were bloodshot. Coupled with having stared for so long just now, her eyes were dry and red-it really did look as if she had been secretly crying.

“Your eyes are so red, and you say you don’t like Ruyu? But even if you like him, it’s useless. Ruyu isn’t someone you can reach.”

“My red eyes have nothing to do with him. Who cares what you think.”
Ye Guilan tried to get past them, but was blocked once again.

“We all remember how you used to suck up to Ruyu. Now you’re pretending to be all high and mighty? Ruyu never thought much of you. If it weren’t for your Ye family having some money, do you think Ruyu would have even bothered to talk to you?”

Ye Guilan laughed. “Why should I care what he thinks of me? Liu Ruyu is your beloved, not mine. Move aside, don’t block the way.”

“Ye Guilan, you’re so flustered that you can only pretend to be aloof. It’s hilarious.”

Ye Guilan frowned slightly. “I just don’t get it-if you like him so much, why don’t you have the guts to confess? Let him marry you. Liu Ruyu is so wonderful, I’m sure he wouldn’t treat your feelings lightly. Even if you can’t be the main wife, wouldn’t you be happy just warming his bed?”

“Ye Guilan, we’re not as shameless as you!”

“Heh, so who’s pretending to be pure and lofty now? Why don’t you chase after him to Lan City? Why not be a toady and keep licking to the end?”

The fangirls were a bit dumbfounded. They’d argued with Ye Guilan countless times, and she was always the one being bullied!

How come now, she was the one bullying them?

“You…!”

“What about me? Mind your own business.” Ye Guilan sneered, pushing them aside. “A toady ends up with nothing.”

“Did she… did she just call us something? Toa-toady?”

“Toady? What does that mean? Did she just call us dogs?!”

The fangirls stood there, confused about what toady meant, while Ye Guilan had already walked far away.

She already had a fire burning in her heart, and these girls just happened to run into her-don’t blame her for not being polite.

Thinking about their words and tone, she could imagine what Miss Ye had done in the past. Poor Ye He, to still love a daughter like that so deeply.

“Your insults are getting sharper.”

Ye Guilan looked up and saw it was the boy who had inexplicably spoken to her the other day. “Why is it you again?”

The boy followed alongside her, a smile at his lips, arms crossed as he watched her fuming. “Fickle-hearted-that’s you, Ye Guilan.”

“When it comes to someone like Liu Ruyu, I should have been fickle a long time ago.”

Her words stunned the boy. “What did you say?”

Ye Guilan snorted. “Liking a dog would be better than liking him.”

The boy couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “You really are different from before.”

Ye Guilan stopped and looked at the boy’s overly familiar manner. “Who exactly are you? Why do you keep talking to me? I don’t even know you.”

The boy stopped as well. Seeing the unfamiliarity on Ye Guilan’s face, he couldn’t help but narrow his eyes. “You really don’t remember me?”

In that instant, the boy’s ordinary face took on an inexplicable air of mystery, and his whole presence became sharp and intimidating.

Ye Guilan took a wary half-step back. “Should I remember you?”

The boy said nothing, just narrowed his eyes at her. The longer he waited, the more sparks seemed to flash in his gaze.

Ye Guilan could clearly sense he was angry, but why? What had she done to make him angry? Just because she didn’t know who he was?

“Forget it.”

The boy suddenly spoke, the smile gone from his lips, his eyes turning cold. With a leap, he vanished without a trace.

Ye Guilan looked around-was that movement too fast?

She shook her head and put him out of her mind, hurrying home.

The anger in her chest was almost impossible to contain. She was even thinking about how to make Liu Ruyu so distressed that he would return the things himself.

Strength-only with enough strength could she trample anyone she wanted.

Taking a deep breath, Ye Guilan shook her head.

It was time to show her true skills.
