Rebel Against the Villain: He Raises Me, I Corrupt Him - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Inside the great hall, the air was bone-chilling.
“This is the Millennium Ginseng Fruit?”
Jing Yong spoke without expression, his cold, predatory gaze sweeping downward. The Demonic Sect Disciples stood as silent as cicadas in winter.
Kneeling at the very front, a disciple in black robes trembled, holding a swaddling cloth embroidered with strange talismans in both hands.
Wrapped inside was, unexpectedly, a small infant emitting a faint golden glow.
“Re-Reporting to the Sovereign Lord, this Ginseng Fruit has taken human form. According to ancient records, once this fruit matures in eighteen years, consuming it can increase one’s cultivation by a thousand years.”
Jing Yong’s expression was dark and sinister. Not a trace of joy could be seen on his handsome face. “Leave.”
The disciple respectfully placed the swaddled infant on the cold stone tiles and then retreated as quickly as if he were fleeing for his life.
The vast hall was left with only him and the little thing that squirmed from time to time.
Jing Yong’s fingers lightly brushed his sword, the blade flickering with a cold light.
One strike to cut it down would save time and effort. Why wait eighteen years?
Just as Jing Yong was weighing his options, the little thing wrapped in the swaddling cloth actually struggled to sit up.
The infant appeared to be about a year old, with chubby, fair, and rosy cheeks. There was a red dot like a cinnabar mole on its forehead, making it look indeed like a plump, ripe fruit.
However, what made Jing Yong narrow his eyes was that the fruit seemed to have sensed his killing intent; its watery, large eyes were fixed clearly on the blade in his hand.
Immediately after, it suddenly started breakdancing on the spot!
Jing Yong’s pupils contracted.
Then he let out a cold laugh and stepped closer.
“Is this your way of trying to survive? It’s more human-like than I expected.”
The infant didn’t seem the least bit afraid. Instead, it grinned, revealing a few newly sprouted baby teeth.
Jing Yong crouched down, his voice devoid of warmth. “If you truly possess spirituality, you should know your fate. In eighteen years, I will kill you personally. Until then, you had better grow up obediently.”
The infant tilted its head slightly as if trying to understand. Then, it suddenly raised a tiny hand and slapped Jing Yong across the face.
At that moment, time seemed to stand still.
Jing Yong, the Sovereign Lord of the Demonic Sect and the nightmare of countless Cultivators, had actually been slapped by a one-year-old infant!
Jing Yong grabbed it by the collar, lifting the struggling infant into the air as killing intent instantly overflowed.
In just a second, he could end this ungrateful nuisance.
Right then, the tiny Ginseng Fruit suddenly emitted an even stronger golden halo.
A dense and pure spiritual energy rushed toward him, causing Jing Yong to be momentarily stunned. He felt the internal energy within his body resonate slightly.
“…I’ll let you live, seeing as you still have some value.”
Jing Yong let go, letting the infant fall onto its bottom on the floor.
He looked down at the fruit, which was now wailing in pain. “Remember, to me, you are merely a Spiritual Medicine. Your only value in living is to be harvested by me in eighteen years. Any further out-of-line behavior will result in an early death.”
“Someone, come in,” Jing Yong commanded coldly. “Go and kidnap a few female Cultivators to look after this Ginseng Fruit. If they don’t raise it well, kill them and find replacements.”
With that, Jing Yong flicked his sleeves and strode out of the inner hall.
Meanwhile, in a corner known to no one else, the System reported to me in a disappointed tone:
