Yan Jinge’s mind slowly filled with a giant question mark.

He understood the logic, but…

Yan Jinge instinctively pulled up his task panel, but he couldn’t find any regulations regarding what he should do when an NPC took the initiative to ask to share a room.

When he had signed the contract earlier, Yan Jinge had only been thinking about the tasks; he hadn’t considered this at all. When he heard the relatives mention “serving,” he simply thought it meant chores like pouring tea, fetching water, or scrubbing someone’s back.

The current situation was completely outside Yan Jinge’s scope of knowledge.

He had to sleep with him, too? That shouldn’t be right…

While Yan Jinge was hesitating, Third Master Jing gave another light scoff, his tone even more sarcastic than before. “Why act so coy now? It’s not like we didn’t sleep together last night.”

With that, he steered his wheelchair toward his room.

Yan Jinge: “?”

…Last night?

Yan Jinge thought back.

When he was sleeping yesterday, it did feel like something was pressing down on him, but the object wasn’t large; it only occupied a small area on his stomach. Yan Jinge had guessed it was the Familiar.

It was just a Familiar; there was no way to link it to the Third Master, right?

He felt that sensation of being watched from behind again.

Yan Jinge frowned, feeling that the Familiar’s habit was a problem that needed to be fixed.

He glanced back but didn’t follow the Third Master immediately. Instead, he pushed open his own door first to grab his toiletries and a change of pajamas before heading out and turning into the Third Master’s room.

The room the Third Master lived in was the master bedroom, which was larger than Yan Jinge’s guest room.

As soon as he entered, he saw Third Master Jing sitting not far from the door, his fingers gripping the armrests of the wheelchair tightly. His lips were somewhat pale, the corners of his mouth turned down slightly, and his face was set in a grim expression as if he were about to lose his temper.

…Who upset him?

Yan Jinge didn’t want to provoke the Third Master, so he simply pretended not to see the man’s dark expression. He first placed his toiletries and other items in the bathroom connected to the master bedroom before coming back out and looking at the bed.

“Third Master.”

Yan Jinge spoke frankly. “We’re two grown men. Sharing one blanket seems a bit cramped.”

In the short time Yan Jinge had spent in the bathroom, Third Master Jing’s expression had softened considerably. Hearing Yan Jinge’s words, he gave a grunt of affirmation and casually pressed a bell on the wall.

“Add another blanket.”

A moment later, the servant who had previously taken Yan Jinge to the guest room arrived.

She wasn’t surprised to see Yan Jinge standing in Third Master Jing’s room. Without looking sideways, she bowed slightly and greeted them respectfully, “Third Master, Mr. Yan.”

Third Master Jing raised a hand.

Receiving the order, the servant immediately moved quietly and efficiently to lay out a new blanket.

Once finished, the servant bowed to the Third Master and Yan Jinge again before leaving.

From beginning to end, she hardly made a sound.

The Third Master was already used to it. He controlled his wheelchair to turn into the bathroom. “Scrub my back.”

Huh?

Yan Jinge looked over.

He hadn’t even taken off his clothes yet, and he was already supposed to scrub his back?

Just as he was about to say something, the Third Master’s brow furrowed, and he spoke coldly again, “In fifteen minutes. Is that enough to satisfy your requirements?”

Yan Jinge blinked and said obediently, “…It’s enough.”

The Third Master gave a heavy huff.

Yan Jinge acted as if he hadn’t heard it.

Seeing that the simple bookshelf on the side of the bedroom was filled with books, most of which were about “Familiars,” he quickly called out, “Third Master, can I look at the books on the shelf?”

“Look.”

The Third Master’s reply was simple.

Yan Jinge randomly pulled out one of them.

The information recorded in the book was much more detailed than what Yan Jinge had searched for online. Almost every blank space on the pages had notes written in a bold, powerful hand, likely written by the Third Master.

Yan Jinge flipped through the book quickly, gaining a deeper understanding of Familiars.

-All Familiars were invisible but tangible. Their form was somewhat similar to a chibi figure, slightly smaller than a newborn human baby. Once they appeared as a Bonded entity, their size remained fixed and they would not grow.

Scientists in this world had tried to see what a Familiar looked like, but so far, no instrument had been found that could truly display a Familiar’s appearance.

A Familiar’s intellect was not particularly mature; they were very emotional and seemed to have a set of criteria for judging likes and dislikes.

When a Familiar liked a human, it would be especially close to that person, but when it disliked someone, it would stay far away.

Yan Jinge couldn’t help but think about the Familiar coming to sleep with him at night.

Furthermore, the luck boost from a Familiar affected all aspects of life, depending on the strength of the Bonded Familiar’s abilities.

For example, the Familiar by the Third Master’s side was extremely powerful. If the Third Master was short on money, he could casually buy a lottery ticket and win a hundred-million-dollar jackpot. A Familiar with weak abilities might only win a few hundred or a few thousand.

Yan Jinge was reading with great interest when he suddenly heard the Third Master’s grim voice from the bathroom: “Yan Jinge.”

Yan Jinge turned to check the time.

Whoops.

Nearly half an hour had passed.
…As expected, happy times really do fly by!

Yan Jinge hurried into the bathroom. He rolled up his sleeves and grabbed a loofah. Just as he entered the shower area, he saw Third Master Jing sitting in his wheelchair, his eyes slightly red, looking over coldly.

He was completely naked, and his physique was impressive. Yan Jinge immediately caught sight of Third Master Jing’s chest muscles, eight-pack abs, mermaid lines, and the cluster below-

A mosaic.

Yan Jinge: “…”

Yan Jinge: “???”

A mosaic???

Yan Jinge was in disbelief and couldn’t help but stare at that spot.

Is the Anti-Pornography Office even going after this nowadays? As expected of Jinjiang-nothing below the neck is allowed!

“…Have you seen enough?”

In front of him, Third Master Jing’s eyes were cold as he looked at Yan Jinge, his tone icy enough to freeze water.

“…My apologies.”

Yan Jinge said insincerely, sneaking a few more glances.

Of course, Yan Jinge hadn’t seen enough.

Anyone who suddenly saw this scene would probably stare for a while. Everyone’s a man; I have what you have. Usually, you’d just sneak a peek to compare sizes and be done with it; no one would look that closely.

But if your “thing” is different from mine…

Then of course I’d want to observe it more!

Unfortunately, Third Master Jing looked like he wanted to eat him alive right now.

Yan Jinge didn’t want to offend him too much, so he withdrew his gaze and moved behind him to seriously scrub Third Master Jing’s back. At the same time, he provided attentive service, asking, “Is this pressure okay? Do you want it harder?”

Third Master: “Mm.”

After a while, Yan Jinge finished the scrub. He was sweating a bit and went to the side to wash his hands. “Third Master, I’m heading out first. Just let me know if you need anything.”

Third Master didn’t say a word again.

Yan Jinge didn’t mind. He walked out of the bathroom and continued reading.

Probably because of his limited mobility, Third Master stayed in the bathroom for nearly an hour before finally coming out.

Yan Jinge breathed a sigh of relief.

If he hadn’t come out soon, Yan Jinge would have thought he’d fainted inside.

Watching Third Master Jing roll out in his wheelchair, now fully dressed, Yan Jinge’s gaze subconsciously drifted toward that spot again.

Tsk.

When Yan Jinge heard Third Master mention sharing a room earlier, he’d been worried about certain issues, but now it seemed like it wasn’t a problem at all.

NPCs have no human rights; they don’t even have that “ability”!

NPCs really have it rough.

Yan Jinge sighed with pity and got up to take a shower himself.

When he came out, Third Master Jing was leaning against the headboard reading. It was the same book Yan Jinge had been flipping through earlier. Yan Jinge remembered something, went back to the guest room, grabbed a small bag, and tucked it under his pillow.

Third Master Jing looked over. “What’s that?”

Yan Jinge said mysteriously, “Something good.”

Third Master Jing glanced at Yan Jinge’s smiling face. Acting as if he didn’t care, he coldly looked away. However, he stared at the book in his hand for a long time without turning a page.

After an unknown amount of time, light breathing came from beside him.

Yan Jinge had fallen asleep.

Third Master Jing stared blankly at Yan Jinge’s long eyelashes for a while. Who knows what he was thinking, but his pupils grew deeper. He turned over and switched off the light, plunging the room into darkness.

Both lay flat on the bed, but there was a wide gap between them. A clear line of demarcation.

Late into the night.

The master bedroom was well-insulated. Not a sound of the wind or frogs outside could be heard; only the intertwined light breathing of the two people on the bed.

Suddenly, Yan Jinge felt a weight on his stomach.

A feeling of stuffiness followed.

Yan Jinge feigned discomfort and shifted his body. The next second, he suddenly reached out and grabbed a leg of the little figure on his stomach. The Familiar thought Yan Jinge was asleep. Caught by surprise, its body stiffened.

Just as it was about to break free, it heard Yan Jinge say, “Wait, don’t go yet. I bought you a gift.”

Yan Jinge pulled a luxuriously wrapped gift box from under his pillow and took out a simple yet elegant black anklet.

Seeing that the Familiar hadn’t run away, he tentatively and gently fastened the anklet around its ankle.

With a “click,” it was locked.

Yan Jinge let go.

The anklet immediately suspended in mid-air, moving back and forth.

As a result, the Familiar lost its balance, tipped backward, and landed right on Yan Jinge’s stomach.

Yan Jinge: “…”

Yan Jinge suffered a bit of internal damage. He thought to himself that the Familiar’s legs were like lotus roots-chubby and quite nice to touch-but its weight was an issue; it needed to lose some weight.

He reached out to steady the Familiar, preventing it from falling, and asked in a coaxing tone, “Does it look good? I bought this specifically for you. I spent a long time picking it out, worried you wouldn’t like it.”

Although the Familiar’s mind was immature, it wasn’t an idiot.

Hearing Yan Jinge’s words, it stood on his stomach and lifted a foot, seemingly inspecting the anklet closely.

Mimicking the scumbag Jing Wenjie’s tone, Yan Jinge said softly, “When I was out shopping today, I kept thinking about what to get you. This anklet really looked beautiful, and as soon as I imagined you wearing it, I couldn’t help but buy it. My sudden move just now might have scared you. I apologize. I’m sorry.”
The anklet swayed back and forth.

Yan Jinge spoke again. “But just because I like something doesn’t mean you will. If it’s uncomfortable or you don’t like it, you can take it off.”

Yan Jinge sighed softly and whispered, “But I’ll be a little sad.”

The Familiar never communicated with Yan Jinge; perhaps it didn’t have the ability to speak at all.

It tugged at the anklet for a while, and once it grew tired of playing, it simply flopped forward, lying on Yan Jinge without moving another muscle.

As expected, it was just like a child.

So easily coaxed.

A brief smile touched the corners of Yan Jinge’s mouth.

Since Yan Jinge would be staying at Third Master Jing’s place for a while, as long as the anklet remained on the Familiar, he would be able to spot it instantly the next time it crouched in some corner to spy on him.

It would also prevent the Familiar from sneaking up behind him to read his chat logs with Jing Wenjie.

Yan Jinge turned his head to glance at the Third Master, who was fast asleep and hadn’t stirred once. He reached out to pull the Familiar close and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

The next morning, his arms were empty.

The space beside him was empty, too.

Yan Jinge blearily scanned the room.

In the corner by the window, the small, delicate anklet was floating beneath the curtains. Noticing Yan Jinge’s gaze, the anklet twitched slightly and emerged from behind the fabric.

Relieved, Yan Jinge greeted the Familiar. “Good morning.”

The Familiar shook its foot in response.

Yan Jinge couldn’t help but chuckle.

After washing up, he headed downstairs. It felt as though a little tail was following him, and that slightly sticky gaze remained fixed on his back.

When will this kid learn to stop staring like that? he wondered. It’s quite unsettling.

As Yan Jinge reached the bottom of the stairs, he ran into a servant.

She had spoken with him a few times before. Seeing him now, she was about to offer a smiling “Good morning, Mr. Yan,” when she spotted the anklet floating in mid-air behind him.

The servant’s face turned deathly pale instantly. She stumbled back two steps, her lips trembling. “What-what is that-?”

Seeing her look like she’d seen a ghost, Yan Jinge quickly tried to reassure her. “It’s the Third Master’s Familiar.”

“What?” the servant stammered. “H-how can this be? That… that thing, did you put it on him?”

She stared at Yan Jinge with a mix of shock and suspicion, her expression full of disbelief.

“Yes,” Yan Jinge replied, blinking. “Is it not allowed?”

“…No, it’s not that.”

The servant looked like she wanted to say more, but with the Familiar standing right behind Yan Jinge, she hesitated. Ultimately, she just gave a respectful bow and hurried off to attend to her duties.

After Yan Jinge finished breakfast and was lounging on the sofa, the servant approached him again. She checked their surroundings before whispering, “Mr. Yan, the Familiar is a deity sent by the High God to change the family’s destiny. Each one is incredibly noble and must not be offended. In the past, others tried to track the Familiar’s location or appearance, but any such attempt would anger the Familiar and lead to a backlash… For instance, that group of scientists who tried to study them-they all ended up either idiotic or insane…”

Her eyes darted around nervously. Having said her piece, she didn’t dare say another word. She gave a deep bow and hurried out of the room.

Yan Jinge looked up to see the thin black anklet dangling from the ceiling, swaying back and forth.

“…Be careful not to fall,” Yan Jinge said.

As soon as the words left his mouth, the anklet plummeted. Startled, Yan Jinge instinctively reached out to catch it, catching the chubby Familiar in his arms. “That’s dangerous,” he said disapprovingly.

He gave the anklet a gentle touch. “It’s been a night; are you used to it yet? If you don’t like it, you can still take it off.”

The Familiar pulled its leg back, wriggled out of Yan Jinge’s embrace, and ran off.

It seems it likes it, Yan Jinge thought, feeling relieved.

Just then, his phone vibrated. He pulled it out to see another message from Jing Wenjie asking to meet.

Raising an eyebrow, Yan Jinge agreed immediately.

As he typed, he glanced toward the corner where the Familiar was hiding. “Do you want to go out and play with me?”

“…Who are you talking to?” Third Master Jing’s voice rang out.

Yan Jinge turned around.

Third Master Jing sat in his wheelchair, wearing a dark shirt that made his skin look even paler. His casual inquiry carried an indescribable charm.

Yan Jinge was about to answer when Third Master Jing suddenly spotted a black anklet floating in the air, pitter-pattering toward him at full speed.

The Third Master: “…”

He instinctively turned his wheelchair and backed away to avoid it.

The Familiar: “…”

The Third Master: “…”
