Seduced the Obsessive NPC and Ran - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Yan Jinge was somewhat shocked.
He had never imagined that Bai Cheng had taken Xiaohua out just to force the little thing to call him “Daddy.”
…This.
Yan Jinge felt a pang of sympathy, but he also found it a bit hilarious.
He thought to himself that it was a good thing Xiaohua hadn’t been around last night, otherwise, things would have been quite awkward.
Although these Familiars were Bonded to humans and were essentially as old as their masters-meaning there was no such thing as being underage-they were still so tiny that Yan Jinge couldn’t help but view them as children.
He coaxed, “I’ll teach Bai Cheng a lesson for you when I see him next.”
Xiaohua said happily, “Thank you, Master.”
Yan Jinge tucked Xiaohua into his pocket. As he did, his hand brushed against the fabric and he realized another item was missing-the anklet was gone.
It was obvious who had taken it.
Yan Jinge blinked and scanned the room but said nothing. When he went downstairs for breakfast and saw Third Master Jing, he greeted him naturally. “Morning.”
Third Master Jing gave a low grunt of acknowledgment, his gaze lingering on Yan Jinge’s face.
Yan Jinge pulled out a chair and sat opposite Third Master Jing just as he did every day. There was nothing unusual in his movements or demeanor, as if nothing had happened the night before.
Noticing Third Master Jing’s stare, Yan Jinge looked up. “What is it?”
Third Master Jing: “…Nothing.”
After breakfast, Third Master Jing had matters to attend to. He reminded Yan Jinge about the banquet that evening before departing.
A short while later, a text message arrived from Jing Wenjie: “Jinge, I’ll be attending the banquet tonight as well. I’ll give you the third dose of the potion then.”
Yan Jinge: “Okay.”
Originally, after the first two doses, Jing Wenjie would have lost his Familiar, and Yan Jinge wouldn’t have needed to waste any more words on him. However, for Xiaohua’s sake, he still needed to get his hands on the third dose and make Jing Wenjie drink it to completely sever the connection between them.
He put his phone away after replying, only for it to vibrate incessantly again.
It was another message from Jing Wenjie.
“Baby, I’ve been feeling so restless lately. I’ve even started having doubts-do you really love me?”
“I truly love you very, very much. I’m afraid I’m the only one in this world who is truly sincere toward you. Jinge, I’ve been dreaming about you constantly these past two days. I saw you following the Third Master and then deciding you didn’t want me anymore… I miss you so much I can’t stand it. Can we meet privately tonight?”
“Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you. I just want to spend some time with you. I’m sincere about us; I even wanted to wait until after we were married to do *that* sort of thing, otherwise, I would have devoured you long ago.”
“Jinge?”
Yan Jinge: “…”
Yan Jinge replied expressionlessly: “We’ll talk then.”
As if sensing Yan Jinge’s coldness, Jing Wenjie’s end went quiet.
***
Evening.
Yan Jinge and Third Master Jing arrived at the banquet wearing matching outfits.
Third Master Jing sat beside Yan Jinge, idly playing with Yan Jinge’s fingers. “Today is Wen Changming’s fiftieth birthday. He’s invited the Clan Heads and the young talents of the major families primarily to formally introduce his son, who just returned from abroad. Once we’re there, do whatever you like. You don’t have to stay glued to my side. If anyone speaks rudely to you, just ignore them.”
With Bai Cheng around, even if someone was blind enough to provoke Yan Jinge, Bai Cheng would likely lose his temper and strike before the Third Master even had to give an order.
“Mhm,” Yan Jinge replied noncommittally.
In his mind, however, he was thinking about something else-wasn’t Wen Changming’s son, the one back from abroad, Wen Yibin? The very man who was the “white moonlight” of Jing Wenjie’s heart?
Before long, they arrived at the venue.
The banquet was being held at the Wen Family’s ancestral estate.
Past a small garden stood several Western-style villas. Standing at the entrance were three refined-looking men acting as greeters. However, their appearances were quite ordinary; they didn’t look like the type of men who could make Jing Wenjie lose his mind with infatuation.
Yan Jinge was staring at the three of them when Third Master Jing, who had exited the car a moment later and was now in his wheelchair, asked in a deep voice, “Do they look good?”
Yan Jinge gave Third Master Jing a surprised look. “Not particularly.”
He added, “None of them are as handsome as you.”
Third Master Jing truly deserved the description of “handsome.”
His proportions were excellent. Even sitting in a wheelchair, his long legs seemed to have nowhere to rest comfortably; he would surely be taller than Yan Jinge when standing.
The Third Master habitually slicked his hair back, revealing a broad forehead and sharp, sword-like brows. His slightly narrow eyes would squint occasionally, and his piercing, dark gaze struck fear into anyone it landed upon.
He was a man whose aura was so powerful it often caused people to overlook his actual features.
Hearing those words, the Third Master’s expression softened slightly. “Let’s go.”
A bodyguard pushed the wheelchair from behind.
There were many people coming and going, but none dared to cast so much as a strange look at the Third Master.
Before Third Master Jing even reached the building, the three men greeting guests at the door simultaneously abandoned everyone else and hurried forward eagerly. Those who had been left behind were initially displeased, but upon seeing that the three were greeting Third Master Jing, they said nothing and quickly entered the building.
One of the men said respectfully, “Third Master Jing, my father is inside. He has been waiting for you for a long time. Please, come in.”
“Father was just mentioning you to us earlier, saying he wanted to talk with you…”
Third Master Jing raised a hand.
The man stopped talking as if he had been choked. He maintained a forced smile and led the way.
Throughout the walk, the men kept stealing glances at Yan Jinge.
Although his identity hadn’t been formally introduced, anyone with eyes could see that the fabric of Yan Jinge’s clothes came from the same bolt as Third Master Jing’s.
…Was he Third Master’s lover?
And a very favored one at that.
The man reached a conclusion and gave Yan Jinge a gentle smile.
Yan Jinge returned the smile.
The group entered the building, which was decorated in a European style that looked magnificent and gilded. Yan Jinge glanced around. “Third Master, I’m going to the restroom.”
“Mhm.”
Third Master Jing agreed. One of the men waved his hand, and a servant immediately came over to lead Yan Jinge to the restroom.
The others’ eyes lit up when they saw Third Master Jing, and they rushed over to exchange pleasantries.
However, since Third Master Jing was in a wheelchair, he sat lower than the rest of the group. Not daring to make Third Master Jing look up at them, the men led him to the side, where they all sat on sofas to chat.
Yan Jinge followed the servant to the restroom.
He told the servant to head back first. After washing his hands and walking a short distance from the restroom, he suddenly heard a faint, weak crying sound coming from outside the hallway window.
The sound was somewhat similar to Xiaohua, but Xiaohua was currently staying obediently in Yan Jinge’s pocket.
Yan Jinge didn’t make a sound, standing by the window to look out.
Outside was a neat lawn with a row of roses planted along the wall. The branches stretched out, some creeping inside the window. On the branch closest to him was a tender flower bud.
Smelling the floral scent, Xiaohua flew out of Yan Jinge’s pocket and brushed against his hand. “Master… Eh, there’s a Familiar over there!”
The crying paused for a moment, followed by a hiccup.
Yan Jinge couldn’t see Xiaohua, so he naturally didn’t know which direction Xiaohua was talking about. He was about to ask when he felt a Familiar land on top of his head.
???
Is it Bai Cheng???
Yan Jinge reached up to touch it.
“Master, that’s not Big Brother, it’s-”
Xiaohua had only finished half a sentence when she suddenly said with blustering bravado, “You-how dare you sit in my Daddy’s special seat!? Do you have a death wish? Just wait until my Daddy comes over and see how he deals with you!”
Yan Jinge: “…”
No need to guess; Bai Cheng had definitely arrived.
With outsiders around, it wasn’t convenient for Yan Jinge to scold Bai Cheng directly. He first reached up and took the Familiar off his head, cradling it in his palm. Like Xiaohua, this Familiar was also well-behaved, lying in his hand without moving recklessly.
Yan Jinge asked softly, “Little one, are you lost? Can’t find your master?”
“Mhm!”
The Familiar said in a pitiful tone, “I… I always get lost. I only left my master for a little while, and then I couldn’t see him anymore…”
Yan Jinge asked, “Does your master live here, or is he here for the banquet?”
The Familiar trusted Yan Jinge and said directly, “We came here by car!”
Yan Jinge understood. “Then sit on my shoulder. I’ll take you to the banquet hall. Tell me when you see your master, okay?”
“Okay-”
The Familiar’s drawn-out, milky voice was too cute. Yan Jinge’s eyes crinkled as he carefully placed the Familiar on his shoulder. Not to be outdone, Xiaohua insisted on sitting on the other side.
With one on each side, Yan Jinge turned and walked toward the banquet hall, feeling a faint, indistinct gaze scanning him.
After a moment, his head felt heavy.
Bai Cheng lay on top of Yan Jinge’s head somewhat awkwardly. He lightly tugged at Yan Jinge’s hair to get his attention but held his breath and remained silent.
Yan Jinge murmured vaguely, “I’ll settle the score with you when we get back.”
Settle the score with me?
Bai Cheng muttered to himself, “…I’m so mad, I’m so mad!”
This was clearly Yan Jinge’s fault! He was Yan Jinge’s legitimate husband, yet Yan Jinge treated him like a son on the same level as Xiaohua! This was simply outrageous!
And the result? Not only did Yan Jinge not apologize, but he even wanted to settle the score!
What kind of logic was that!
It was truly infuriating!
The lost Familiar was a bit confused. It could feel that the Familiar on Yan Jinge’s head was very powerful. It moved closer to Yan Jinge’s ear and whispered, “Big Brother, that Familiar is so mean… Oh, by the way, my master is super handsome!”
Yan Jinge had already returned to the banquet hall. He scanned the room and asked casually, “How handsome?”
The Familiar replied, “Extremely handsome! The most handsome person you see in a moment will be him!”
Bai Cheng gave a heavy huff, seemingly disagreeing with the Familiar’s words.
Xiaohua also chimed in to argue: “Nonsense! My master is clearly the most handsome!”
The Familiar froze, silent for a long while before stammering, “Both… both are handsome… Big Brother is handsome too!”
Yan Jinge’s eyes curved as he whispered a warning, “Stop it. Look at how you’ve pressured the poor child.”
As he was speaking, a man walking hurriedly passed by and accidentally bumped into Yan Jinge’s arm. While Yan Jinge reached out to steady the Familiar, he locked eyes with the man.
The man had bright eyes and elegant brows, with beautiful cerulean eyes that were full of gentle apology. He had a high bridge to his nose, pale lips, a well-defined jawline, and a long, swan-like neck.
“I’m sorry.”
The man’s voice was equally gentle.
As he gave Yan Jinge a slight nod, he maintained eye contact, a flash of admiration appearing in his eyes. “Hello, I am Wen Yibin…”
At the same time.
“Master-!”
The Familiar on Yan Jinge’s shoulder immediately rushed forward.
The man named Wen Yibin was startled. He cupped his hands as if catching something, and his gaze toward Yan Jinge became even more surprised. “You-was it you who found my Familiar?”
