Chapter 111

“More importantly…”

Beili’s lips twitched as she gave a tactful reminder. “How could you leave Susanna alone over there? Go back, quickly.”

“He… he said it was fine.”

Beneath the cold, hard lines of the silver mask, the youth repeated himself, his voice carrying a hint of stubbornness.

“I know he’s fine…” Beili sighed, nodding gently. “So, can you go back and stay by Susanna’s side now?”

“Tonight…”

He was still fixated on the matter, pressing for an answer:

“Do you want it?”

“To absorb… Mana.”

“Yes, yes, fine…”

Beili could only nod haphazardly to appease him for now.

“Good.”

Having received an affirmative answer, the youth finally ended the topic with satisfaction and turned to walk back toward Susanna.

…

On the other side.

After hearing the Second Prince say he wanted to kill someone with her own ears, Susanna watched him walk toward Sister Bartholomew and Mr. Clarence.

She didn’t know what was said, but now the Second Prince was walking back toward her.

Susanna had already become frightened of this mysterious and noble Second Prince.

She didn’t even dare to be alone with him.

Observing that the Second Prince seemed to have a better relationship with Sister Bartholomew, Susanna took a deep breath and stood up, taking the initiative to walk toward the youth in the silver mask.

“Second Prince, the treatment for the arrow wound on my shoulder is finished. Let’s go join Sister Bartholomew and the others…” she whispered.

Hearing her words, the silver mask slowly tilted downward in a nod.

Susanna let out a sigh of relief and walked toward the Gray-haired Girl. At the same time, she frowned slightly, thinking silently to herself-Prince Cyril is still the better one.

…

To check on Susanna’s hunting progress, Beili walked over to the soldier guarding the results.

The soldier was sitting in an open clearing with several burlap sacks laid out in front of him.

Hearing the girl’s inquiry, the soldier straightened up, lifted a light and flat bag, and said truthfully, “As you can see, currently, Miss Susanna has no hunting results.”

Not even one… Then she could rest easy.

“Sister Bartholomew…”

Susanna called out softly.

The girl turned around.

“Sister, I’m not good at hunting…” she explained.

“Don’t worry, Susanna.” The girl smiled at her, her tone exceptionally gentle today. “The Second Prince said he will dance with you tonight.”

Susanna’s pupils trembled slightly, and she instinctively shook her head in a small motion.

Then, she stopped.

She didn’t want to dance with the Second Prince; she was terrified of him. But the Gray-haired Girl didn’t see the message in her eyes.

The Gray-haired Girl was busy carefully observing the number of prey in each bag.

Susanna bit her lip, not knowing how to refuse.

She stole a glance at the Black-robed Youth beside her and lowered her head with a conflicted expression.

…

Susanna began to hunt in earnest.

This weak-willed girl even went so far as to take the initiative to ask Clarence to teach her archery.

She was fully focused, her eyes determined and her expression urgent. Her resolve to win was practically overflowing.

Beili noticed that in a short amount of time, several small pieces of prey had suddenly appeared in Susanna’s bag, and she couldn’t help but feel a bit surprised.

However, compared to the quantities others had, it was still far from enough.

Just as she had initially thought, if Susanna wanted to gain the initiative to dance with Cyril, she would have to rely on sheer dumb luck to take down the largest prey…

But wasn’t she being a bit too serious?

Beili walked at the back of the group, watching the Pink-haired Girl in White. In her pursuit of a wounded pheasant that was trying to flee, the girl took a heavy tumble on a low slope. Her clothes were instantly covered in a layer of dirt, leaving her looking incredibly disheveled.
Not far away.

Clarence’s shoulder twitched slightly, as if he wanted to step forward and help the fallen girl up.

After all, anyone with a shred of gentlemanly grace should have done so at that moment.

But that noble and mysterious Second Prince stood behind the girl, as still and silent as a tree.

Clarence had enough self-awareness to know he shouldn’t provoke this prince’s displeasure again.

So, his shoulders stiffened, and he held himself back, making no move.

On the other side.

Beili frowned, her expression full of helplessness and confusion as she looked at the Black-robed Youth, who was as wooden as a statue.

She couldn’t help but raise her hand, summoning one of the Morpho Butterflies.

Consuming a bit of Mana, she sent it to deliver a message to the youth-

‘Noble Second Prince… shouldn’t you go and help the poor girl who fell beside you right now? Standing by with folded arms isn’t exactly a good strategy…’

The blue-green winged Morpho Butterflies trailed a wisp of black mist as they flew lightly to the youth’s ear.

After delivering the message, the Morpho Butterflies dissipated into the air.

Hearing her words, the youth merely turned around, tilting his head slightly.

He seemed to be looking at her in confusion.

Beili looked up at the sky and pressed a hand to her forehead.

When she lowered her head again, she saw that Clarence, unable to watch any longer, had plucked up the courage to walk toward Susanna.

He leaned over and extended his right hand in a gentlemanly manner.

Susanna took his hand and stood up.

The two of them began observing the squirrels and hares, naturally walking off together and gradually leaving the ‘noble and mysterious Second Prince’ far behind.

You’ve got to be kidding me…

Beili couldn’t believe it. She walked quickly over to the youth.

“I think something is very wrong. Either you or he is playing me. It has to be that,” she said.

The youth was silent for a moment before saying:

“It’s him…”

Him, my foot!

So, Ashera really was playing her!

“Then ask him what on earth he wants!” Beili demanded.

“He hopes… you will regain the feeling of… ang- anger,” the youth sighed, his tone sounding somewhat aggrieved.

“Anger? You tell him I’m very angry right now.”

Beili knitted her brows and said huffily, “I’m so angry right now I want to hit someone.”

“N-no, not that kind of… ang- anger…”

The youth’s tone was somewhat helpless.

He took her hand and placed it against his cold, form-fitting mask that shimmered with a metallic glint.

“It’s…”

Just as he was about to say something, the youth seemed to sense something and suddenly turned his head toward Clarence.

Beili was looking at Ashera when she suddenly heard a brisk set of footsteps. Someone called out to her excitedly:

“Sister Bartholomew!”

Hearing Susanna’s voice, Beili hurriedly pulled her hand back from the mask, pretending nothing had happened. “What is it?”

As soon as she asked, Beili saw Clarence striding toward them, carrying a dark, lumpish object.

Looking closer, she realized the furry black lump in Clarence’s hand was a small black bear cub.

“Miss Bartholomew, we found a bear cub.”

Clarence explained to her:

“But it was already dead when we found it.”

Looking at the small black bear with its limp limbs hanging from his hand, Beili’s lips twitched.

She was just about to remind him that the presence of a cub might mean a mother bear was nearby.

In the next second.

She saw a massive dark shadow slowly rising behind Clarence.
