The healing treatment was apparently finished, and Doctor Cassius withdrew the healing magic from the room.

Beili no longer needed to stay in bed; she was free to move about.

As for why she still couldn’t speak, Doctor Cassius frowned in puzzlement.

“I think there must be some other magical factor involved, because your injuries have indeed fully healed.”

As he spoke, his furrowed brow soon relaxed, and he offered a reassuring smile.

“Don’t worry, there will be a way.”

……

A few days passed after that.

After dinner, Beili was strolling in the garden to aid her digestion when several maids suddenly brought her back to her room to change clothes.

“Miss Bartholomew, you look absolutely stunning now!”

“Like an elf!”

The maids showered her with compliments and pushed an oval mirror in front of her.

In the reflection, she saw a pale, thin, yet rather beautiful young girl.

Thanks to more than twice-daily care, her silver-gray hair, which had once resembled withered winter grass, now looked like satin. In the flickering candlelight, it curled softly and shimmered with a gentle, delicate sheen.

Her eyelashes were long and curled, and her eyes were like the purest rubies in the world-captivating and dazzling.

But her skin was so pale it was almost translucent, and the faint blue veins beneath her cheeks could be seen. Even with lip color applied, she still looked bloodless.

She was simply too thin.

The Baroque-style dress she wore, with its collar and cuffs studded with pale purple square gems, hung heavily on her, as if she couldn’t quite fill it out.

Too thin… like a mummy.

Beili silently admitted the truth to herself.

It wasn’t until she was led to board a carriage with Duke Constance that Beili realized their destination was the palace in the royal city.

For some reason, His Majesty the King had summoned her.

Passing through massive white marble columns, she entered the palace gates.

Her gaze swept past the rows of guards in silver-white armor standing on either side of the hall, and Beili saw the legendary King.

He was an elderly man, seated on the throne, his bloated figure wrapped in a magnificent golden-scaled robe, a crown encrusted with rubies upon his head.

“You are the lost child of the Constance Family?”

The aged voice echoed through the vast hall.

“Come closer, let me have a look.”

As soon as he spoke, Beili was led by the guards to the steps below the throne.

She calmly raised her head and met the King’s gaze, but for some reason, she suddenly felt nervous, as if she sensed… killing intent?

Beili’s heart tightened, and she lowered her head in confusion.

“Your Majesty.”

Duke Constance stepped forward and explained, “Bartholomew was injured and still cannot speak. Please forgive her, Your Majesty.”

The King nodded, “I’ve heard about your daughter’s injuries, but there’s no need to worry. The healers at Holy Island Academy will help her recover.”

Holy Island Academy?

Before Beili could wonder, Duke Constance spoke first: “Your Majesty, the Constance Family has already used up its quota for Holy Island Academy…”

“Of course, don’t misunderstand-Bartholomew isn’t going there to enroll, but to receive purification.”

The King smiled and continued, “After all, having stayed in the same room as a Demon, no one can guarantee her soul hasn’t been tainted.”
Duke Constance’s face showed hesitation, his eyes betraying his reluctance.

After a long pause, he finally voiced his concern. “I’ve heard that the Demon is currently imprisoned in Holy Island Academy…”

Beili quickly realized that the Demon Duke Constance referred to was Ashera.

So Ashera was now at Holy Island Academy.

The heroine, Susanna, was also at Holy Island Academy at this moment. Their meeting place had shifted from Thorn Prison to Holy Island Academy, and even the timing of their encounter had moved forward.

This was a completely different storyline from the original book.

On the other side, His Majesty the King softened his tone, comforting Duke Constance: “Don’t worry, he is locked in the underground detention chamber of Holy Island Academy. The Red Cardinal has set up a barrier, and the finest Knights are guarding it. Your daughter will no longer be harmed by the Demon.”

“Go now, the carriage to Holy Island Academy is already waiting in the palace square.”

Though the last sentence was still gentle, it carried a hint of command.

The guards had already approached the Duke, ready to escort them out of the palace.

Though Duke Constance still harbored concerns, upon hearing the King’s order, he could only follow the guards and leave.

Thus-

Beili arrived in a daze and left the palace just as dazed.

Behind her was the carriage bound for Holy Island Academy. She looked up at Duke Constance, her expression somewhat lost and a bit embarrassed.

No suitcase, no change of clothes.

She even had medicine applied to her neck, wrapped in bandages!-Though the maids, for the sake of appearance, had draped a silver-gray scarf over it to conceal it.

And she still couldn’t speak.

Beili sighed inwardly. Under Duke Constance’s worried and reluctant gaze, she raised her hand and pointed at her dress.

Duke Constance paused, then suddenly understood, and gave Beili a hug.

He gently patted Beili’s head. “Dear Bartholomew, I’ll miss you too. Your mother doesn’t know about this yet. When she gets the news, she’ll surely go crazy…”

Beili: …

Beili felt like going crazy right now.

Giving up the struggle, she waved goodbye to Duke Constance and turned to climb into the carriage.

Silvery moonlight spilled over the quiet road as a carriage slowly rolled out of the castle.

The wheels rumbled dully over the cobblestone path.

Inside the spacious and comfortable carriage-

Beili sat at the edge, motionless, even her breathing light.

Her gaze fell on the figure not far away.

Besides her, there was a handsome young man seated in the carriage.

He had his eyes closed, arms crossed over his chest, breathing steadily as if already in a light sleep.

His black hair looked especially smooth under the faint lamp light. A high nose bridge and thin lips outlined a strikingly handsome profile.

A black-feathered cloak draped over his shoulders, beneath which was a dark formal suit adorned with golden embroidery. At the collar was a deep purple gemstone button, giving him a luxurious and elegant appearance.

By observing his looks and attire, Beili’s suspicion grew ever stronger:

It wasn’t just likely-this was clearly the male lead from the original book, the heir to the throne of the Santos Kingdom, and the one Susanna ultimately chose-His Highness Prince Cyril Elvis.
