Chapter 174

Beili thought she was having another nightmare.

She struggled for a moment between sleep and wakefulness before her consciousness was gradually pulled back to reality.

Then she realized it wasn’t that her blanket had grown heavier, but that a dark shadow was pressing down, heavily covering her.

Her eyes snapped open and she sucked in a breath. Her shoulders twitched slightly as she prepared to push the shadow away.

“It’s me…”

Then, a familiar, clear, and soft boyish voice sounded in her ear.

She relaxed.

“…If you don’t want to sleep, fine, but why are you waking me up?”

She spoke in a blurry voice, tinged with the irritability of someone just woken up.

The boy raised his head.

“You just… said it… I remember what… you said…”

The room was filled with a black mist.

Moonlight spilled in through the gaps in the window curtains, piercing through the faint black fog and scattering hazily across that gloomy, pale face.

His thin lips were slightly parted, and his eyelashes were like black feathers drenched by rain. His hollow golden eyes looked down.

He held her hand with one of his, while the other stroked the hair on top of her head.

…What was he talking about???

Her red eyes gradually cleared as she woke up fully.

Wait a second.

Her brain couldn’t quite keep up.

“I thought you… didn’t.”

She whispered, somewhat dazed.

According to her guess, Ashera’s torso, being one of the three items, should have already been borrowed.

But now, a part of him…

Seemed to be in her hands?

Her breath hitched, and her fingertips went stiff.

She felt like her hand… and not just her hand, but her arm, her shoulder, her chin-her entire being had turned into a heavy, clumsy stone.

The boy let out a muffled sigh.

His eyelashes trembled slightly as he suddenly leaned down and kissed the curve of her ear, which was rapidly turning the color of a cherry.

“He doesn’t have it…”

His thin lips moved from her ear to her cheek.

“I do…”

“But he… he won’t let me… wake up…”

The boy’s voice was soft, slurred, and full of grievance.

A few broken droplets slid from the corners of his eyes, landing on her neck.

She lifted her red eyes.

She looked at the boy in the hazy light. His long, feather-like lashes and pale, gloomy face were half-illuminated and half-shadowed in the thin moonlight.

“…”

Beili remained silent for ten seconds.

After thinking for a few moments, she decided to close her eyes and clear her mind of distracting thoughts.

She would pretend nothing was happening.

However, she let her entire arm down to her fingers go limp, allowing the boy to hold her.

The boy’s fingertips were trembling slightly.

He tilted his head a little as if sensing her state.

The next second.

The hand resting on her head moved to the corner of her eye, his thumb lightly stroking the thick lashes beneath her eyelid.

“Why won’t you… look at me?”

He asked softly.

Beili didn’t open her eyes. She was hypnotizing herself into believing she was currently in a dream.

No matter how absurd this dream was, it would be a brand-new day once she woke up.

“Why… won’t you look at me…”

The boy asked again.

As if afraid she couldn’t hear him, the boy leaned close to her ear, kissing her earlobe as he asked.

Beili pursed her lips, still ignoring him with her eyes closed.

Then.

The hand enveloping hers suddenly stopped.

The black mist in the room grew thicker, and the moonlight scattered in the room became increasingly hazy.

The boy gently lifted her chin, his fingertips stroking her lips.

“Did I… scare you… friend?”

“Can I call you… Little Butterfly, too?”

“Just like… him… or is it… not allowed?”

How did this person have so much to say?
No matter which form he took, he was so clingy.

Knowing this wasn’t over yet, Beili had no choice but to open her eyes, only to be met by the boy’s downcast, hollow golden gaze.

“I’m looking at you.”

“Don’t be… angry with me.”

As he spoke, he lowered his head and pressed a soft kiss against her lips.

“I’m not angry.”

She sighed.

“Good.”

The corners of the boy’s mouth curled slightly, and his voice was like a light feather brushing against her ear.

“Then don’t… close your eyes again… Little Butterfly.”

“I know.”

She replied.

…

She just watched him like that.

She watched the boy’s thin lips move as he whispered intermittent, unfamiliar words, his tear-dampened lashes drooping as his brows gradually knit together.

He said a lot, and he spoke for a long time.

Finally, his dark, feather-like lashes trembled slightly, and he suddenly buried his face in the crook of her neck.

He became quiet.

He couldn’t say anything more.

…

The next morning.

The sunlight was soft and warm.

Beili and Lady Constance rode together in a carriage, heading toward the horse farm where they had arranged to meet the Nobles the day before.

By the time they arrived, many Nobles had already reached the horse farm early.

The moment she and Lady Constance appeared, everyone’s eyes drifted over, intentionally or otherwise.

Their gazes fell upon her, filled with profound meaning.

They waited a moment longer.

The Royal Family carriage arrived.

The door opened, and a familiar figure stepped out.

Black hair, and cold purple eyes as clear as crystal.

Cyril.

When he wasn’t in the palace or attending a major event, Cyril’s attire was always simple.

He wore a clean, sharp white shirt on top, with straight black trousers tucked into his boots.

Only the magnificent, luxurious sapphire buttons, flickering with an opulent glow in the sunlight, reflected his noble status.

…

After Cyril stepped down from the carriage, he walked toward them.

The Nobles waiting at the entrance of the horse farm bowed to him one after another.

Beili followed suit, lifting her skirt in a curtsy.

However, when she raised her red eyes, she accidentally locked eyes with him.

Those cold purple eyes paused for a fraction of a second upon meeting hers before turning away as if nothing had happened.

Then.

The Horse Farm Owner-the Noble who had invited everyone here and the man behind the Imperial City Tailor Shop-stepped forward.

Beili could never remember their names.

Regardless, this Noble enthusiastically began leading everyone on a tour of his horse farm.

This horse farm wasn’t as simple as she had imagined-not just a fenced-in lawn with a wooden stable nearby.

It was more like a park, kept clean and tidy, with even the stones laid out in neat, flat patterns.

Every horse had its own private lounge and was assigned a commoner to care for it, ensuring the animals remained clean and elegant at all times, without a single bug on their bodies.

After a general look at the horses, they went to the restaurant at the farm to enjoy a sumptuous lunch.

Only after that did they arrive at the Rest Area.

Throughout the journey, Cyril had been surrounded by Nobles at the front of the group, while Beili walked at the back, cradling her lamb.

People looked back at her from time to time to make sure she hadn’t fallen behind.

Once they reached the Rest Area.

Whether it was intentional or not, the Nobles were very quiet as they departed for the next sightseeing spot, leaving her and Cyril there in a moment of unspoken understanding.

At that moment.

Those cold purple eyes turned back toward the girl.

There was a hint of stiffness on his exquisite face.
