Beili walked lightly up to the second floor, and as she looked up, she saw an old man in a robe sitting at the doorway, keeping watch.

The old man was thin and frail, his back hunched, and his slightly cloudy eyes half-open, lazily staring at her.

Noticing someone guarding the door, Beili paused, a little nervous, but quickly calmed herself.

But the old man only looked at her, saying nothing.

Beili had no choice but to avert her gaze, ignoring the old man’s stare, and walked straight toward the door.

Seeing her pass by, the old man did not stop her, his gaze locked on her as if watching a good show.

His fingers, dry as withered branches, tapped lightly on the armrest of his chair, producing a rhythmic ‘tap tap tap’ sound.

Soon, with a muffled ‘thud!’, the girl in a nun’s habit bumped into an invisible wall.

Beili winced in pain, let out a muffled groan, and raised her hand to cover her forehead.

From behind to the left came the old man’s undisguised, hoarse, and gloating laughter.

“New Nun, the second floor is only open to students.”

The implication was that she was not qualified to enter here.

Beili rubbed her slightly swollen forehead and rolled her eyes in annoyance.

Seeing a strand of silky, silver-gray hair peeking out from under the Nun’s black-and-white coif, the old man’s cloudy eyes opened wider.

“Hey… Nun.” He leaned his hunched back forward. “If you’re interested in magic, I do have some Magic Books, suitable for someone who hasn’t studied magic before.”

The Nun turned back and asked, “What kind of Magic Books?”

Looking at her delicate face, the old man touched his loose, wrinkled hand and lowered his voice:

“The Scroll is at my place. You can come over tonight…”

Before the old man could finish, the Nun’s gaze suddenly darkened.

Her cold red eyes surged like burning flames.

The old man, not getting a response, was about to say something else when, in the next instant, he felt as if his neck was suddenly gripped by someone.

A tremendous force clamped down tightly.

Panicking, the old man clawed at his neck, feeling as if the force was lifting him up, his whole body slowly rising from the chair.

Just then, voices and somewhat hurried footsteps came from the staircase.

Someone was coming up to the second floor.

Beili felt dazed for a moment, and as she came to her senses, she heard a loud ‘bang.’

The old man who had been speaking a moment ago fell to the ground, letting out a painful and hoarse scream.

Hearing the old man’s scream, the footsteps on the stairs paused for a moment, then quickened.

Soon, two figures appeared at the entrance of the second-floor library.

A boy and a girl, both dressed in light flax-colored academy uniforms.

The boy in front had black hair and violet eyes, his steps elegant and noble, with his usual cold expression.

He was none other than Cyril, the Prince of Sainthos.

Following behind him was a pink-haired girl, Susanna, who was not related to Bartholomew by blood.

The two hurried to the old man, who was hunched over on the floor.

Cyril’s gaze swept over the Nun, his expression unchanged.

But his steps paused slightly, clearly recognizing Bartholomew.

After checking the old man, Susanna let out a sigh of relief. “No fatal injuries.”

Cyril nodded, finally turning his gaze to Bartholomew.

Seeing her dressed in a nun’s habit, he frowned slightly and asked, “What happened?”

Beili looked at the trembling old man on the ground and replied, “I don’t know.”

Hearing the conversation, Susanna looked up in the direction of the voice, finally noticing Bartholomew in her nun’s habit.

She couldn’t help but gasp, then quickly turned her head away, hiding her panic-stricken expression.
She didn’t see herself.

Hurry, leave here quickly.

Susanna prayed repeatedly in her heart, but the trembling old man on the ground suddenly grabbed her hand.

Susanna was startled. She looked down and saw the old man’s clouded eyes wide open.

He squeezed his vocal cords, speaking in a voice only she could hear:

“She is a monster…”

He uttered just those four words before losing consciousness.

“What a hassle…”

Cyril sighed, then crouched down and hoisted the unconscious old man onto his back. “I’ll take him to the Healing Hall first.”

“I’ll go with you!”

Susanna quickly added, standing up and about to follow His Highness Cyril out.

Before she could take a step, a slightly cold voice stopped her.

“Susanna.”

Beili called out to the fleeing Susanna with an expressionless face.

Susanna froze on the spot.

Beili raised her hand, pointing toward the second-floor library, then forced a friendly smile.

She said, “Do you know any way I could get in and have a look?”

“The second floor of the library is full of profound Magic Books…”

Susanna’s gaze flickered evasively.

“That’s not important.”

Beili’s smile faded slightly, then she smiled again. “I just want to go in and have a look, nothing else.”

Hearing Bartholomew’s words, Susanna’s expression darkened, as if she was somewhat resistant to this unfamiliar sister accessing magical knowledge, but she didn’t want to anger her either.

Susanna subconsciously looked up at Cyril, as if hoping he would say something to help her out.

Unfortunately, Cyril didn’t look at her, only gazing at the corridor.

Growing tired of waiting, he said, “You two take your time. I’ll take him away first.”

With that, Cyril went downstairs without looking back.

A trace of disappointment flashed in Susanna’s eyes.

Noticing that Bartholomew was still looking at her, Susanna pursed her lips and spoke with some difficulty, “To enter the second floor, you need to show your Academy Badge.”

She took out a black badge engraved with intricate patterns from her pocket and handed it to Bartholomew.

“This is my Academy Badge…”

At this point, Susanna paused, seeming a bit embarrassed, and said, “Bartholomew, could you return it to me after you’re done?”

“Of course.”

Beili didn’t stand on ceremony and immediately took the badge from Susanna’s hand. “It won’t be long, since I should be returning to Sainthos today.”

Upon hearing this, Susanna’s expression showed a moment of astonishment, which quickly turned into barely concealed delight.

Realizing her inappropriate reaction, she quickly suppressed it.

“Then I’ll be going, Bartholomew.”

A rare, genuine smile tugged at Susanna’s lips. She waved to Bartholomew, turned, and left, her steps becoming lighter.

Beili held the badge in her hand and walked toward the door.

……

As expected, the barrier was gone, and she entered the second-floor library smoothly.

The lighting was a bit dim.

Several Fluorescent Crystals hung on the surrounding walls, emitting a soft glow.

Though there had been some twists and turns, she had finally made it in.

The air was filled with the distinctive scent of parchment, which put her in a much better mood.

Walking along the central aisle, her gaze swept over the category plaques hanging on the sides of the bookshelves.

On the second floor, aside from some Magic Books, there were Potion Books, Talisman Books, and ancient Scrolls recording the God-Demon War.

She walked past row after row of bookshelves until she reached the spot marked “Teleportation Magic” on the category plaque, where Beili stopped.
