With the consent and guidance of Dean Madeline, Beili met with Lisa.

On Holy Island, the cells are called by a gentler name-“Confinement Rooms.”

They are located at the island’s outermost edge, where it is cold and damp, battered year-round by relentless sea winds and tides.

As they approached, a heavy iron door was pushed open.

It seemed as if a swirl of black mist seeped out from the gap of the opening door.

Faintly, Beili could hear all kinds of screams coming from inside the Confinement Rooms.

Her steps grew heavy, and a nameless unease welled up inside her.

Two Knights emerged from behind the door, dragging a thin, unconscious person by the clothes-like dragging a pile of rags.

They hauled the person to the rocks near the building.

Then, working in perfect coordination, one Knight gripped the person’s arms, the other their ankles. Together, they lifted-

Beili’s red eyes froze. She hurried forward.

“Wait!”

Before her voice could be swept away by the sea wind, the frail figure had already been thrown into the sea without mercy.

In an instant, the surging waves swallowed the body, leaving no trace behind.

A chill ran through Beili.

…

“Who was that?”

“Who cares! Let’s go. Watch your step or you’ll fall in!”

The two Knights glanced at her, muttered a couple of words, dusted off their hands, and walked away as if nothing had happened.

Beili watched them for a moment, doubt gradually surfacing in her gaze.

She noticed that after the body was thrown from the rocks, a layer of black mist seemed to swirl around the two Knights.

As they passed Beili, the black mist seemed to be drawn to her, even drifting in her direction.

She instinctively took two steps back.

“Miss Bartholomew.”

The leading Knight seemed used to such scenes. He pointed to the building behind him. “Let’s go. The person thrown into the sea wasn’t Nun Lisa. Nun Lisa is still in the Confinement Room.”

“Did you see anything strange on them?”

Beili suddenly asked.

The Knight paused, glanced carefully at the two who were walking away, then frowned. When he looked back at Beili, his expression was as if he’d seen a ghost.

“Never mind, forget it. Let’s go.”

Beili pressed down her doubts, withdrew her gaze, and silently walked toward the building.

…

The sound of chains echoed. The door of the Confinement Room holding Lisa slowly opened.

Inside, the young woman looked up. When she saw Beili appear, her eyes instantly widened in surprise.

“Miss Bartholomew!”

She stood up from the rust-stained iron bed, her voice hoarse, her expression filled with incredulous shock.

Beili quickly looked Lisa over, frowning.

She noticed that Lisa, too, was surrounded by a layer of drifting black mist.

“I’d like to speak with Nun Lisa alone,” Beili said to the Knight beside her.

The Knight hesitated, but finally agreed.

“All right, Miss Bartholomew. Be careful.”

The door closed again, with the Knight standing guard outside.

Beili’s gaze fell on Lisa once more.

Lisa’s face was pale, her eyes red and bloodshot-she looked as though she had just cried.

After the initial surprise, Lisa’s smile appeared stiff, and tears quickly welled up again.

“Miss Bartholomew, why are you here…” she said.

“I…”

Beili paused. “I was a bit hungry, so I wanted to ask why you didn’t bring breakfast today.”

She tried to sound lighthearted to ease the tension.

Lisa broke into a teary smile, but her voice soon turned bitter. “Miss Bartholomew, as you can see, in my current situation, I probably won’t be able to bring you breakfast anymore…”

She wiped her tears with the back of her hand and added,

“But I’m still very happy you came to see me. Really! I’m very happy!”
“All right, stop crying, Lisa. Crying only wastes time-we have more important things to do. If you trust me, tell me everything.”

Beili smoothed her black dress and sat down on the rust-stained iron bed.

Her red eyes lifted, gazing at Lisa. In a calm, measured tone, she asked slowly:

“Go ahead. Why did you kill Prince Samuel of the Nauze Kingdom?”

As these words fell, Lisa’s shoulders stiffened.

The air in the room instantly froze.

……

In the distance, the waves eroded the shore, and the sea breeze carried the damp chill into the Confinement Room.

As the words faded, those tear-filled eyes suddenly flickered with a strange light.

Lisa hesitated, looking at Bartholomew, who sat composedly on the iron bed, her face calm and unruffled. Deep inside, Lisa began to struggle fiercely.

That struggle lifted the veil on her memories.

Pain, anger, and a trace of ruthless determination gradually surfaced in her eyes.

“Miss Bartholomew, may you never have to encounter the darkness of this world.”

Her voice trembled as Lisa slowly sat down, the shackles on her feet clinking coldly.

Lisa took a deep breath and began to tell her story:

She had never imagined she would come to this point.

She left her parents at a very young age and came to Holy Island Academy.

She remembered that day was bright and sunny. There were children in the group crying for their mothers, but the leader told one of them directly-it was his mother who had sold him, and he would never have a mother again.

Soon, she was assigned to the kitchen, where the steam and aromas became the cradle of her growth.

She adapted quickly and soon accepted life here. Not only did she learn to cook, but she also made friends.

Unfortunately, many girls left Holy Island once they reached a certain age, yearning for a broader world and an ordinary, secular life.

But she chose to stay.

The reason was simple and pure-she had fallen in love with an Envoy from the Holy Church Academy, codenamed ‘Yue.’

They got along like friends, meeting almost every day.

She would experiment with all sorts of new dishes and share her best creations with Messenger Yue to taste.

To bring more flavors to her cooking, she began to visit the market on Lottia Island during Rest Days to buy rare ingredients unavailable on Holy Island.

However, the turning point came during an ordinary trip to Lottia Island.

A plump figure followed Lisa, silently arriving at Lottia Island.

In a moment when she was completely off guard, he knocked her out and took her to a tent on a remote beach…

It was only after the incident that she learned the man was Samuel, a prince of the Nauze Kingdom.

Although the Nauze Kingdom had many princes, even the least favored among them held a status far above that of a commoner like her.

“He knew I wouldn’t dare tell anyone, and he gradually guessed that there was someone I cared about at the Academy.”

Samuel began to threaten Lisa, demanding that she meet him on Lottia Island every Rest Day, or he would expose what they had done.

For her, this was nothing short of a devastating disaster.

Samuel’s presence was like a Sword of Damocles hanging over her head, completely overturning Lisa’s life.

She began to waver between two worlds: on one side, the paradise of longing and fantasy with Messenger Yue; on the other, a hell of sin.

“Later, his appearances were no longer limited to once a month on Lottia Island. If he ran into me at the Academy… he would even wait for me in the dormitory building.”

Her voice trembled. Recalling that time, Lisa was filled with helplessness.

“I thought I could keep hiding it until I found a way to get rid of Samuel.”

“But I didn’t anticipate that Samuel’s behavior would become more and more outrageous. He started demanding that I lure other Nuns to him. If I refused, he would slap me without hesitation…”

“What…”

Beili was shocked and couldn’t help but ask, “Then… did you agree to his demands?”

“I agreed.”

A trace of coldness flashed in Lisa’s eyes as she said slowly, “And then, on the night we had agreed upon, I killed him.”
