Dignity and freedom were stripped away bit by bit.

Her heart had long been filled with anger, resentment, and a murderous intent that had swelled to the point of bursting.

She knew that if she failed in one strike, what awaited her would be a fate more miserable than death.

She had heard from Messenger Yue long ago that a Demon was imprisoned in the underground dungeon.

After some effort, she found that Demon and offered to trade her soul, as long as the Demon could drag Samuel down to hell.

But the young man in the underground dungeon seemed unable to understand what she was saying. No matter what terms she offered, his only response was to repeatedly deny that he was a Demon.

Yet, just as she was about to give up and leave, the young man handed her a heavy, pitch-black dagger.

With that dagger in her hand, it felt as if she no longer feared anything.

That night, Samuel came to her.

She opened the door and let him into the room.

Although Samuel was furious that she had not brought the other Nuns as promised, he soon lay on the bed, intoxicated and lost in desire.

She seized the right moment, drew the sharp knife from under her pillow, and slashed it hard across Samuel’s neck.

Blood spurted out, staining the bed, the walls, and herself red.

Samuel was conscious, his mouth open, unable to utter a single scream.

In that moment, she burst out laughing.

She had never laughed like this before-so wanton, so unrestrained, so mad.

She gripped the handle tightly and slashed even deeper.

The blood-soaked neck revealed a patch of white bone.

Another slash.

And another.

And another.

“Later, I cut off Samuel’s head, just as I had dreamed…” Lisa smiled, her lips curling up.

As she laughed, her expression gradually twisted into something ferocious. She lowered her voice and said, “He deserved to die… he deserved it!”

“He ruined my life… ruined everything I had…”

“I had to kill him!”

Her voice grew softer and softer, until it was almost a whisper.

“It was my only choice…”

After finishing everything, she did not run away, but went straight to knock on Headmistress Madeline’s door.

She would not run, nor would she let anyone else be implicated because of her actions.

Besides, her heart was already dead.

“They all say Messenger Yue is dead.”

“At the time, I refused to believe it. Only after being locked up here did I finally calm down and think it over…”

The expression on her face gradually softened. Lisa turned to look at Bartholomew, who sat beside her, her expression grave.

So beautiful.

Her soft, shiny long hair was like a curtain of water cascading from a fountain at night.

Her fair skin was as smooth as a shell polished by sand.

A stiff smile tugged at Lisa’s lips, finally dissolving into deep despair.

She asked, word by word:

“Miss Bartholomew, was it you who killed Messenger Yue?”

…

The setting sun slanted.

The shadows of the two were cast in crisscrossing patterns on the mottled wall.

As the question slipped out, Lisa’s voice trembled uncontrollably. She wanted to hear the answer, yet seemed afraid to hear it.

Her eyes were filled with chaotic hope.

Beili was slightly taken aback, then shook her head, answering crisply and decisively.

“Of course not. I haven’t killed anyone.”

This answer made Lisa’s expression stiffen.

“Miss Bartholomew, were you the last person to see Messenger Yue before he disappeared?”

Beili frowned slightly and answered calmly, “Perhaps. That night, he took me to the chapel. After he gave me Holy Water to treat my throat, I lost consciousness. When I woke up again, I was already back in the attic room.”

Lisa’s gaze locked onto Bartholomew’s face, trying to find a trace of evasion in those ruby-red eyes.
A complex emotion flashed in her eyes, and Lisa spoke again: “I heard that the ones who disappeared were three Red Cardinals and an Envoy. When I was tidying your bed, I saw four Sunny Dolls-three red and one white-which correspond exactly to the three Red Cardinals and the white-clad Messenger Yue.”

“You overestimate me! Three Red Cardinals plus an Envoy-do you know what that means…”

Beili’s brows furrowed even tighter, and when she spoke again, her tone involuntarily became stiff.

“I have absolutely no ability to kill any one of them alone, let alone all four together.”

After a brief silence, Lisa’s eyes revealed even more confusion and bewilderment.

Lisa said, “But… why were those dolls in your room… Is it just a coincidence?”

Hearing this, the image of the Black Horned Man subconsciously surfaced in Beili’s mind.

But if it was Ashera, that would be even stranger.

If, on the night Beili lost consciousness, it was Ashera who killed the three Red Cardinals and Messenger Yue-

Then why didn’t he just finish everything in the chapel? Why did he need to lure her step by step, bringing her to the attic room?

And Ashera also said those dolls were a surprise he brought her…

Beili’s heart trembled violently, and she immediately denied it.

Impossible. Absolutely impossible.

Lost in thought, neither of them spoke again, and the atmosphere fell into a stagnant silence.

‘Tap, tap, tap…’

A knock came from outside the door.

The Knight stationed outside spoke, breaking the silence, “Miss Bartholomew, it’s about time. You should leave now.”

“…I’m leaving, Lisa.”

Pulling herself together, Beili took a quiet breath and stood up, her grave and complex expression returning to calm.

“If I discover any way, I will get you out, even if you don’t trust me.”

Her tone was light.

Watching the young woman disappear behind the door, Lisa felt a surge of conflict and unease in her heart, her breathing growing rapid.

“Miss Bartholomew…”

…

From the Confinement Room back to Holy Island Academy.

The Knight who led the way completed his task, and the two parted ways.

The night wind carried the moisture of distant waves, blowing through the long silver-gray curls cascading down her waist.

Greek-style sculpted stone pillars shimmered with a faint blue light under the moon.

Beili stood on the open ground, gazing up at the star-scattered night sky above.

Yet her heart was as turbulent as waves ravaged by a storm, unable to calm down for a moment.

She closed her eyes and silently counted in her heart.

One, two, three, four, five…

She kept counting up to ninety-nine before her thoughts finally grew clear and steady.

A silhouette gradually emerged in her mind.

At this moment, perhaps only he could offer some useful advice…

Having made up her mind, she slowly opened her eyes, about to turn and walk in a certain direction.

A splash of vivid maple red suddenly broke into her field of vision.

A red-haired, black-eyed boy was bending over, looking at her with a smile in his eyes.

His slender fox-like eyes held obsidian pupils, the corners slightly upturned, carrying a natural allure.

The dim moonlight did not dull his red hair; instead, it made it stand out like burning flames.

Beili was startled.

Her red eyes widened, and she unconsciously took a few steps back.

Seeming to find the scene amusing, the boy raised a hand, curled his fingers, and his upturned lips parted as he said, “Hello, Little Lamb.”
