A cry of alarm erupted, accompanied by a thunderous bang.

A suddenly unleashed Magic Fireball dragged a blazing trail, rapidly growing larger in Beili’s field of vision.

Her heartbeat nearly skipped in sync with the moment.

Her thick, curled lashes trembled lightly; her eyes stared unblinkingly at the swiftly approaching Magic Fireball.

It was like a whirlpool in a deep, crimson sea, swirling with rings of mesmerizing, dark light.

Before anyone could react, the fiercely burning Magic Fireball in the air seemed to crash into a wall of light, its gaping maw open to devour everything.

A strange blue-green light, mixed with black, caused the Magic Fireball to halt midair for an instant, then vanish.

All the heat in the air disappeared along with it.

The noise in the cafeteria came to an abrupt halt, and in the next second, an uproar broke out-

“Who was it? Who possesses such advanced magic?”

“I don’t think I heard any incantation, nor did I see anyone make a casting gesture-really! I swear!”

“What kind of magic is this? I’ve never learned it in spell class!”

…

The few Nobles causing trouble slipped away in the chaos; fortunately, no one was hurt.

But at the critical moment, that fiercely burning Magic Fireball was inexplicably swallowed by an invisible force.

Nearly every student in the cafeteria was astonished by this sudden turn of events.

Discussions buzzed throughout the room.

Surprise, curiosity, fear, and excitement mingled in their gazes as everyone searched for the mysterious Mage who could dispel a Magic Fireball in an instant without uttering an incantation.

Soon, someone said:

“I know! During the Holy Island Competition, many powerful Mages appear in the Academy! Was it one of them passing by just now?”

This speculation was widely accepted, and the chatter gradually died down.

In the corner.

Having just used her Mana, Beili immediately lowered her head, continuing to eat from her plate as if the thrilling scene moments ago had nothing to do with her.

At the same time, she was surprised-so most students at Holy Island Academy still needed to recite incantations to cast magic.

It was like waiting for a skill to finish loading.

Beili had discovered this while trying to teach herself magic in the library. Back then, she’d never managed to successfully cast a spell and thought that the tedious stage of memorizing countless corresponding incantations was only for new arrivals on the island.

She hadn’t expected it to be a constant requirement.

But… could this be considered a good sign?

Although she’d just used up nearly a quarter of her Mana to block a runaway Magic Fireball, she now understood-there wasn’t much difference between herself and the average student, and she might even be stronger.

With this realization, Beili felt much less intimidated and concerned about the top ten Hunters in the Holy Island Competition.

Her lips curled slightly in a barely noticeable smile as she continued eating from her plate.

Doctor Cassius, sitting across from her, seemed not to notice anything unusual about her, nor did he seem aware that a Magic Fireball had appeared behind him. His attention was entirely focused on the letter in his hand.

His gaze lingered on those two twisted characters.
A pair of tranquil, lake-green eyes, at this moment, seemed as if someone had thrown a stone into them, sending ripples across the surface like fish scales.

In front of him was a plate of fresh fruit salad.

It was drenched in a vivid red sauce, and beside it sat a large glass of a similarly colored drink, resembling tomato juice.

Beili thought it was blood-after all, a vampire’s food was blood-but sitting so close, she couldn’t detect even the faintest scent of blood.

…But it was taking too long.

Doctor Cassius had been staring at those two characters for far too long, long enough that Beili couldn’t help but wonder-had this second male lead already recognized their meaning, but was still debating whether to tell her?

He absolutely mustn’t do that!

Having read the original book, Beili firmly believed in the kindness of this vampire second male lead.

“…Doctor Cassius, how is it?”

Feeling a vague unease, Beili couldn’t help but speak up, interrupting Cassius’s thoughts.

She gently pressed her lips together, her red eyes filled with anticipation as she looked at him.

Cassius seemed to snap out of his reverie, lifting his head and meeting her gaze. He gave a soft hum and said, “Miss Bartholomew, I think I may need some time to study this character. It isn’t a common magical symbol-I suspect it may be related to an ancient and now forgotten script.”

Beili blinked, then nodded.

Could she trust him?

She decided to try, at least when it came to finding books-Cassius was someone she could rely on.

Though there hadn’t been much progress, it didn’t affect her.

……

Night fell.

All the lights on the cafeteria roof blazed to life, illuminating the entire space as bright as day.

After finishing dinner, the two parted ways with a simple farewell, heading off in different directions.

The students at the Academy were unusually exuberant.

They gathered in groups, lighting bonfires of various colors on the beach and singing songs from different countries.

Each bonfire group sang loudly and passionately, determined to outdo the others.

Beili had slept from dawn until dusk, so she wasn’t in a hurry to return to her attic room.

She had only intended to wander aimlessly around the Academy to help digest her meal, but unexpectedly discovered several people shrouded in sinful black aura.

Among them were Noble students in Greek-style Academy uniforms, as well as their commoner servants.

Whenever she found one, she would deliberately approach, enduring the chill brought by the black aura, and absorb their Mana as quickly as possible before they noticed anything amiss.

This made Beili even less inclined to return early.

She roamed all over Holy Island Academy, searching for people carrying sinful black aura.

This method of replenishing Mana was extremely efficient.

Unfortunately, the numbers were limited.

After all, Holy Island Academy housed only a small group of Noble children-even if each brought a commoner servant, there were only about a hundred people in total.

So, by rising early each day and visiting every competition venue, Beili managed to absorb all the Mana from everyone on Holy Island carrying the black aura in just two or three days.

She was absolutely convinced that, for the time being, there would be no one left in the Academy emitting black aura.

She was practically the Holy Island Sweeper.
